| FTBL The Good, The Bad and The Ugly vs. UM Final Chapter

I am just concerned that Deboer doesn't quite understand what the standards are here. I'm going out on a limb here, but I'm worried he may think that just having 9 win seasons is good enough
I'm not concerned. I don't think ppl who has well connected to program are concerned. I don't know why everyone getting worked up. Y'all were spoiled by Saban and it's not a good thing.

Feel free to give a deeper response instead of shrugging everything off and dropping a one liner. Seriously, be honest, because Terrion was the only one truly making a difference and continued to grow and show his naysayers wrong. Milroe has created more of them, so seriously asking why we think this charade will continue to inspire future Alabama athletes. It was cute during the run last year when you had two guys earning some money, but it has lost its meaning when the naysayers aren't proven wrong, yet justified.

I just hope CKD can make staff changes. But I heard that he has an extreme aversion to firing folks. I hope he can overcome that and understand that firings are just the price of doing business

I'm sure he understands but I'm not sure we as fans understand what this new realm of college football is going to look like for all teams. I don't think what Saban or Bryant accomplished is possible with the way things are currently. I think that's kind of the point, dynasties aren't good for ratings.

I can all but assure you big donors are asking questions. Don't think I've ever met a rich, wealthy, well off, legit businessman that has never questioned their investment. Season tickets, donations, Yea Alabama money will not stay the same if they see a product like today, again and again.

How many buyouts have we seen around the country? Alabama is not unique in any way where fans are willing to accept less. Deboer obviously deserves a few years, so don't take my words today as unsupportive of him, because just like any new employee, you don't really know what you have till about a year in. But I can all but assure you fans at every donation level sent some interesting texts around and questioned a lot. They ain't sitting there all happy and comfortable tonight.

Here’s what I think (after having some time to cool off):
The 2nd year will tell us all that we need to know. Under Bryant, Stallings, & Saban, year 2 was a marked improvement. I always hear that a coach needs 3-5 years to prove themselves- bullshit. Year 2 will tell the story.

It will certainly answer some lingering questions and it's accurate to say that the clock on DeBoer's tenue (in terms of how he'll be judged by those that matter) began today when the clock at Raymond James Stadium hit 0:00. .

Know a guy who would fall into this category... skybox seats, etc. He's pissed. LOL They are gonna be hard pressed to get an extra nickel out of him for the foreseeable future (for football anyway).

Kalen and staff should be reviewing today's game about right now. Not sure who is bringing in the food for them. Byrne can pay for it himself.

Good - Graham’s Field Goal, Defensive Effort

Bad - Losing to Michigan again this year

Ugly - Milroe, OC, Offensive Scheme, Lack of discipline, Chance that Milroe tries to come back, Deboer saying the same crap after every loss, losing our 10 win streak, Milroe.

We’re headed to FSU status.

Everyone will calm down eventually, but yes, I expect donations to be a little more hard to get out of clutched hands until earned. DeBoer unfortunately won't get that hunger that Saban got when he was basically given everything he needed to build the program. DeBoer got given the keys to the Bentley and will have to do with what he has instead of a blank check. Just my thoughts.

I would love to be able to view Byrne's phone tonight just to see what has been said.

I think the whole staff new that this team just wasn’t that good… and they knew they wouldn’t come close to meeting expectations this year… They just had to weather the storm..and take the slings and arrows..
Ok. Thats fine. Any coach in FBS would’ve pulled Milroe after the 1st quarter though. It’s almost like sabotage. That was literally the worst QB play I have ever seen at any level.

UGLY…We found out that this team was just not that good…I think the coaches knew that from the beginning, they just had to bite the bullet…This team NEVER deserved to be anywhere near the playoff…Hopefully CKD gets his players and transfer in quickly… Hopefully the off season has “ THE FIFTH QUARTER” program, especially for the guys in the trenches..Glad we got taller and more physical receivers coming..
I actually think this team was pretty good. Trash coaching and a horrible QB kept the team from reaching its potential.

Out of town this week… watched part of the game at a restaurant and part on my phone. That in itself tells you how invested I was over it since I like to watch alone at the house unless I’m in attendance. Anyway, here we go…

Good- The defense played well. Really well, in fact. There were a handful of runs that they didn’t contain well, but they made Michigan work for every yard and point. The offense really put them in a bad spot early on the 1st 4 drives, but they held the line about as well as could’ve been asked of them. Then kept playing hard all game.

A couple of the younger guys on defense got some opportunities today and made the most of them. That was at least promising to see.

Bad- The OL. Proctor gets a bit of a pass from me, he’s playing when most others wouldn’t be in his situation. We told y’all in September that he was gonna need shoulder surgery after the season, and he’ll get that now. But overall, the OL was not good today. Some of their failures led directly to Milroe’s failures. His issues were not limited to that by any means, but it was a contributor.

That penalty on Bama for the sideline infraction after the 3rd down sack. I’m a little unclear on what happened there so I might be working and unfair here, but that looked like a massive overreach by the official. Especially considering it was a bowl game.

Ugly- Hate it ended like that for him, but unfortunately Milroe had an ugly game. As is usually the case, other factors contributed to that (OL mentioned earlier and another mentioned monetarily). But, Milroe imploded on his own plenty of times too. To his credit, he put that nightmare 1st quarter behind him and went on and made some plays. But he left so much on the table. It’s just really frustrating when he doesn’t get on track early and instead sputters throughout the game. There’s a in game mental hurdle (in terms of the game slowing down for him) that he’s going to have to start clearing in order to unlock his potential at the next level.

Sheridan. Too many times this season now that he’s fallen in the bad or ugly category after games. It shouldn’t be that difficult find a winning game plan AND comfort zone for Milroe. We know from a season’s worth of games 2 things… 1) Milroe is at his best when he starts off well and gains early confidence. This is accomplished by running high percentage pass plays and moving the chains with the run game when needed. 2) Bama’s offense runs best when they get ahead of the chains on first down. They fail, almost always, when they don’t. So, an emphasis on picking up positive yardage on 1st down should always be at the forefront of the calls. Sheridan will have a different hand of cards to play with next season. It should be a more comfortable hand. My hope is that this past season will be helpful to him and make him a better OC as that transition takes place. But much like the overall success of Ty Simpson, we won’t know the future success of Sheridan until the time comes to pass.

Note- It had to end at some point, but I’m bummed Bama had a chance to win 10 games to keep that streak alive and failed. Then again, maybe it’s fitting in the grand scheme of things.

One other Good I should have added earlier… I applaud the guys that played today that didn’t have to, didn’t “need” to. Yes, that includes Milroe. I wish he’d have played better and ended his career on a much higher note obviously, but I appreciate that he went out there when he didn’t have to. Same goes for guys like Jihaad Campbell, who unfortunately had the one thing happen that you hope not to see… left with an injury in his last game. But others that aren’t leaving… Proctor for example, delayed his surgery and gave it his all even though he couldn’t do it all game. People like to point to culture and team toughness, well there’s a mark in the good column for how a lot of the guys handled it today. Don’t let the loss wash that away.
