| FTBL The Good, The Bad and The Ugly vs. Boomer

To pick up a bit on the comment(s) on the offense... we've all rehashed this, but it tends to get lost in discussions over the course of the season. But, the current WR group is not what DeBoer prefers and wants, as a whole. He wants more size, more physicality (while keeping speed). On the OL, it's the opposite, in terms of size anyway. The guards are great, but Roberts for example is a step slow for what this offense likes to do. Both (well, all 3) tackles are hindered by their size as well. I think Proctor will be ok as he continues to shed some bad weight and get better with his technique and quickness, but Bama will absolutely explore portal options on the right side and see if they can improve the situation for '25. Possibly with Formby sliding inside.

But I say all that to remind everyone... It is a new offense this year, yes. But it requires a certain type of personnel to be run the way DeBoer wants to run it. And not just at QB.

I really question the receiver aspect. How many 6'3-6'5 receivers are out there that retain their speed? Julio was a needle in a haystack. You gotta have a guy like Williams. We have Bernard whom he brought from Washington. Caleb Odom is young and doubtful to return in my eyes. He was left wide open in the endzone earlier in the game on the same side of the field Milroe was targeting when we still had a shot, but Milroe threw it away instead. I get Law and Prentice are smaller, but does he not have every build of receiver you could want? Guys are open, the ball simply isn't getting to them. That's more of a quarterback issue, nit a receiver one in my eyes

They don't want them all to be tall, but they want a couple of good ones that are. When I'm talking speed, I'm talking overall... they have it now with some guys, they don't want to get away from that is all I mean there.

This is the most mind boggling to me. Apparently we don't have a round peg on the roster. The seemingly unwillingness to even test that theory makes no sense, to me anyway. Im a "shit aint working" try something different kind of guy.
Bingo

Bama needs to know if the backup can play at a high level but our backup never gets to play with the 1st bunch!!!! You really come to two thoughts and A-Kalen is afraid to bench this low IQ QB or B-this low IQ QB is the very best we have and the staff is happy with his production.

If B, then Byrne hired the wrong dude, and the program is going to pay big for that mistake. People say LSU has a big problem with the buyout for Kelly but Bama would be worse since this is year 1 for Kalen.

IMO, they should have been able to adapt and win, especially last night, with the tools they had. For whatever reason, they went with a completely shitty plan. The 2 most disappointing things from last night, and there were a gazillion of them, was Milroe’s effort on the “tackle” after his INT and the offensive game plan. Both were inexcusable.

Think there may be an option c, the team may not play for another qb.

Beat AU and most all will be forgiven

15 rushing attempts from Milroe and then a total of 15 for Haynes and Miller is mind boggling. Especially when it sounds like OU set the tone on our first offensive play when Milroe tried to call his own number. I guess Sheridan didn’t see the neon signs. If we expect the QB run to beat the Barn, we are in big trouble.

It made zero sense.

It didn't seem like they played very well last year at SF when he was benched. That's all I was going off, appearance. Maybe it was a misread.

They didn't play too well this year against USF with him at QB either. But there is a false narrative out there that guys would lay down if he got benched... it's silly. IMO, it's a coping mechanism from some fans.

Agree 100% with being able to adapt and win. When they dont and nothing works there doesnt appear to be any type of contingencies. We all know there's no way in hell OU should have been able to stay on the field with our talent level. Guess aTm felt the same way about Auburn.

The lack of effective motion and misdirection at times has been mind boggling... it's such a staple of this system... and it can give a defense fits... gets them out of position, allows the QB to read pre-snap coverage, etc. We have guys like Williams and Law who should be getting multiple touches behind the LOS every game, getting them out in space. They get away from that way too often, and in most cases, it's a game where Bama struggles on offense.

I felt like it was gonna be a bad night when we kicked a field goal from the 3 yard line. Their crowd was jacked up, and that early score would have taken them down a notch, especially with them not getting much on offense early.

I was really pissed off at the idea that they don't run a guy like Haynes there who has the leg drive, but have no problem at all giving Milroe the opportunity time and time again on third down to pull it from his back and run for no gain or a negative gain. That's why I have no ill will towards Haynes when he leaves here soon. Utter failure by the staff and it pisses me off my Yea Alabama money goes to studs like him and Williams and the staff will lose them to the Portal for dumb shit decisions. Even handing the ball off to Miller would have been fine with me, but we settled for a field goal and it was the last time we freaking scored.

I felt like it was a gonna be a bad night when the first 2 offensive plays were Milroe runs that barely got past the LOS. Seeing 1 was bad enough... 2? I almost went to the liquor cabinet.
