| FTBL The Good, The Bad and The Ugly vs. UM Final Chapter

I have to say, I don't feel well about this game. Michigan is a more physical team than Alabama, and Alabama has a tendency to get rattled.

They are defending champs coming off a red hot win. Bowl games are also typically won by the more motivated team, and IMO they have that edge.

Hope we finish strong nonetheless! Roll Damn Tide.

What I posted in the game thread before kickoff. Sorry yall.

Out of town this week… watched part of the game at a restaurant and part on my phone. That in itself tells you how invested I was over it since I like to watch alone at the house unless I’m in attendance. Anyway, here we go…

Good- The defense played well. Really well, in fact. There were a handful of runs that they didn’t contain well, but they made Michigan work for every yard and point. The offense really put them in a bad spot early on the 1st 4 drives, but they held the line about as well as could’ve been asked of them. Then kept playing hard all game.

A couple of the younger guys on defense got some opportunities today and made the most of them. That was at least promising to see.

Bad- The OL. Proctor gets a bit of a pass from me, he’s playing when most others wouldn’t be in his situation. We told y’all in September that he was gonna need shoulder surgery after the season, and he’ll get that now. But overall, the OL was not good today. Some of their failures led directly to Milroe’s failures. His issues were not limited to that by any means, but it was a contributor.

That penalty on Bama for the sideline infraction after the 3rd down sack. I’m a little unclear on what happened there so I might be working and unfair here, but that looked like a massive overreach by the official. Especially considering it was a bowl game.

Ugly- Hate it ended like that for him, but unfortunately Milroe had an ugly game. As is usually the case, other factors contributed to that (OL mentioned earlier and another mentioned monetarily). But, Milroe imploded on his own plenty of times too. To his credit, he put that nightmare 1st quarter behind him and went on and made some plays. But he left so much on the table. It’s just really frustrating when he doesn’t get on track early and instead sputters throughout the game. There’s a in game mental hurdle (in terms of the game slowing down for him) that he’s going to have to start clearing in order to unlock his potential at the next level.

Sheridan. Too many times this season now that he’s fallen in the bad or ugly category after games. It shouldn’t be that difficult find a winning game plan AND comfort zone for Milroe. We know from a season’s worth of games 2 things… 1) Milroe is at his best when he starts off well and gains early confidence. This is accomplished by running high percentage pass plays and moving the chains with the run game when needed. 2) Bama’s offense runs best when they get ahead of the chains on first down. They fail, almost always, when they don’t. So, an emphasis on picking up positive yardage on 1st down should always be at the forefront of the calls. Sheridan will have a different hand of cards to play with next season. It should be a more comfortable hand. My hope is that this past season will be helpful to him and make him a better OC as that transition takes place. But much like the overall success of Ty Simpson, we won’t know the future success of Sheridan until the time comes to pass.

Note- It had to end at some point, but I’m bummed Bama had a chance to win 10 games to keep that streak alive and failed. Then again, maybe it’s fitting in the grand scheme of things.

This clown's buyout will be $36 million at the end of year 3. So we took a page out of fucking auburn's book and gave this inept jack wagon a Gus Malzahn kind of deal. Do we have a Yella Fella who will bite the bullet and pay that? Hell NO!

At some point we have to look hard at Sheridan. Calling same thing over & over & hoping for a different result is crazy. Alabama ain’t no training ground!

That streak of double digit win seasons ending sucks because it was our last connection to the Saban era. Now we got nothing connecting us to that glorious time and Saban has only been gone a year. Sigh....

In our 4 losses, we have looked like our late 90's-early to mid 2000's teams. When we lost under Saban, (aside from maybe that horrible beat down by Clemson in the game for the 2018 National championship) we lost due to other factors, like the other team's QB playing the game of his life, or fluke shit like the 2010 and 2013 Iron Bowls. When we have lost under Deboer, it's looked very much like the Dubose/Shula era. THAT is a HUGE problem

I was thinking the same thing about the penalty and if it wasn't a woman I had to wonder if there is no flag thrown.

Good - defense. I know some disagree but Wommack did a great job with a new system and all the injuries. If he stays (I pray he does) our D will be rally good IMO.

Bad - OL. I know Proctor is hurt but it just looked like a different group after the TN loss. Like they lost the fire and edge.

Ugly - Milroe. I actually only now realize how much CNS and our OC last year (can’t remember his name) did to help him. We need a QB that can read defenses, understands it, and can process it quickly. Mac wasn’t the most gifted, but he could do that really well. I’m hoping CKD starts working on our next qb in that department.

Lastly - I would have pulled Milroe too, but this is his last game and has given a lot to this university. I think keeping him in was a nod and thank you to Milroe. You just don’t bench a 2 year starter in their last game with nothing on the line.

I assumed she was the one that threw the flag but wasn’t sure. I couldn’t hear the tv at the time. And I barely even caught them showing her on tv when they came back from break. Call me sexist, misogynist, whatever, but I don’t care to see females calling the games. Looks ridiculous in the NFL too where I’ve seen them fuck up their share of calls.

ive have noticed that too. When we lost this year, it’s because the other team played better, but not significantly better. In our loses, we made tons of mistakes from turnovers, false starts, blown coverages, terrible qb play, name it. The loses haven’t been as a result of flukes or impeccable qb play from the other teams.

I really feel that of the 9 wins this season, we only out coached one of those teams. Georgia. And that was only in the first half. All of the other wins were really based more on talent rather than out coaching the other team. I don’t know. This team is quite the enigma.

Sure reminds me of ...curry...shula...fran...dubose...
And today i received another letter asking for more money. More money. More money.
And we pay KD 10+ million....plus coaching staff millions...
And they ask for more money. More money. Moremoney.

I be one pissed off tidepride ...long time bama supporter....
Not because of a loss...but a program that....lacks winning characteristics...

Not just the OC - need to hold the OL coach accountable. Didn’t improve all year
Trying to make chicken salad out of chicken shit isn't easy. The center is the best player we have consistently, and he came with Kalen. The others are all average at best. This team's talent is overrated top to bottom. This team doesn't play with any discipline.

I don’t disagree with any of that. I still say you should see some improvement from beginning to end. If not , I look at coaching also

After The Bear's passing, Ray Perkins made the comment that Alabama fans would need to get used to 9-3 kind of seasons. And he was one of The Bear's boys. He should have been booted on the spot. While Deboer would never outwardly verbalize such a thing, he's probably thinking something along those lines. We don't "get used to" mediocrity here. And if he doesn't get it, he won't be there long. This is why we should have kept this hire in the family. When (not if) a change is made, a member of the family needs to come home and take the reigns

5-4 record since the UGA game.

LANK!
