| FTBL The Good, The Bad and The Ugly vs. Boomer

Good- still trying to come up with something on Sunday afternoon.

Bad- lack of tackling.

Ugly- both offensive tackles, consistently beat over and over.

I think CKD makes changes with the staff after the season, maybe right before or after the minor bowl game we play in this year. Remember, the original OC that came very briefly to Bama went back to Washington and the Seahawks in particular. There is no way CKD can be happy. Our offensive tackles are too big and slow for what DeBoer wants to do with this offense. Why are we trying to throw deep, long progressing routes when short, quick slants and passes will work? Why are we lining up with one back or empty in short yardage situations?

On defense, I know our secondary other than Moore is young and or inexperienced. The DL and LB’s are severely lacking IMO. We can get pressure at times but cannot get to the QB. Our LB’ cannot cover worth a crap and our consistently getting burnt on 3rd down runs or passes.i see wholesale changes with the defensive staff. Swarming to the ball,is a thing of the past. Solid tackling, one on one has been lost to grabbing at a player.

In closing, I figured we would lose 2 games but I did not see 3. Mental mistakes and players not performing and staying in the game has almost driven me to cuss and drink. Serious about the first part, not the second.

IMO, they should have been able to adapt and win, especially last night, with the tools they had. For whatever reason, they went with a completely shitty plan. The 2 most disappointing things from last night, and there were a gazillion of them, was Milroe’s effort on the “tackle” after his INT and the offensive game plan. Both were inexcusable.
I would have to add a 3rd to your list and that was the defense against the run. My god how hard is it to get someone to set the edge and stop a one dimenstional offense? For Womack it seems really difficult. 250+ yards given up on the ground with 200 of that in the first half. That is pathetic D. To make it worse we get our best LB hurt and I assume he is done.

Yes, Lawson is supposedly done. And that’s not good going into next week’s matchup. At all.

Nope it does not work that way but you already know that. Barn is not and has never been the end goal for Bama. Now lose to them and that is another story but all will not be forgiven by beating the Barn.
Very true. 2022 is a perfect example. Much like this year, we came into the game looking like crap while they came in having won 3 in a row, looking a lot better under Cadillac as interim HC. We won by 22, but it did nothing to erase the absolute underachievement of that season

Offensive game plan was so damn bad!!! Do we not have screens for our RBs? Only WR screens that can be slow developing that my 70 year old mother could recover and defend!! Our WRs can’t block worth a shit on the perimeter, so we had might as well run them down the field. I know Coach Homer Smith would be dialing up Lakeland and Rivertown to slow oncoming blitzers.

To that point, we dinked & dunked to the running backs to open the game against LSU & it worked like a charm. Why the hell didn't we do that more in the flats instead of those WR screens?

And we showed some signs of running up the middle with some effectiveness. This actually was a great counter to their outside edge rushers. Did Milroe always usually pull out of the RB runs & keep it? Hell, he should have be told to hand off to the RB until they start stop the RB 3 times in a row.

It's like the entire offensive play calling & execution went to sleep. Or they were playing scared due to OK phsyicality. . . . . which is not really being discussed at all. OK made their ass quit!

Personally, I would like to see an overall improvement in the analyst department.... some of the advanced game planning that falls on that group has been terrible. But on the regular staff, I do think there will be multiple changes, possibly including one or both of the coordinator(s).

This is so baffling to me. You'd think one of them would have dusted off game film of how Venebles game planned at Clemson Vs J Hurts & Co. We had detailed files... Just baffling.

100% correct that our receivers cannot block. I mean, it looked like a 10U team. Williams has hurt us big time with his "blocking" all year. The questions remains, why do you still have them trying to block in crucial parts of the game when they've shown you they can't?

His body can’t take the beating… We need Megatron types to run this offensive… Dense and tall guys..Basketball players on the grid iron..

Arnold threw 11 passes. What's the O/U on Thorne's attempts this weekend? Hunter had 130 yards against aTm on 30 carries. Me thinks we'll get a major dose of the same. The aTm defense made Payton Thorne look like Peyton Manning.
