| FTBL The Good, The Bad and The Ugly vs. Vandy?

Here's the clip linked in the article for those interested.

2 things...

1- That was a pretty brutal takedown by Harris on the situation, with a little ground and pound action for good measure. In my head, as he was showing the rings, I could hear Mike Goldberg yelling, "It is all over!"

2-
Serious question here... Does Mike Rodak contribute any original content to the world wide web, or is at all quote mining pulled from every corner of the Alabama athletics universe? That's literally all I ever see him tweet out.

I thought Harris was little emotional and lot of things he said, I understand but he didn't have to be that brutal. Reggie Ragland feels the same way. To me that's an old school mindset they have and they don't like the soft culture they're seeing these days.
I don't know if Harris is trying to be neutral but it didn't help. I bet he calls and apologize to Deboer soon. I would bet we'll see Saban defending Doeber this week.

2. Rodak just rodaking all of the stuff. He half ass it.

One thing I'll say this: I know they had a meeting or will have one soon and address or addressed lot of stuff and hopefully we see stuff nipped in the bud. I hope Keeley and oatis are back playing with team this week.

Made the mistake of turning on local sports talk radio this morning. These people are ecstatic. Some old men saying that was the greatest sports moment of their life. I forget how big a deal it is for others to beat us, sometimes we are immune to that. The country saw something it had not seen in 17 years, nearly a generation. The king losing to an unranked team. It’s a big deal for folks.

On a side note, they are just roasting Moore for his childish antics at the end of the game. Nobody is ignoring that outburst. It was a black eye for our team this year. He’s getting blasted around here.

I bet people creamed their jeans when the beat a Bear Bryant team back in the day..😉

It's reminding me of the Jermaine Burton thing all over again (in some cases), when he had the incident with the female Vol fan that ran on the field after their win. Had to hear all week about the upset, seeing the goalposts hauled down to the river, etc... and oh yeah! Also, a Bama player did something dumb at the end of the game so let's everyone make a massive deal out of that too!

There’s a huge difference, the cupboard was empty for Saban. The cupboard is full for Deboer. Now I think they’ll do better in the future, but damn. Vanderbilt????? Sheesh!!!!!!! Should throttle them, every time!!
The 2007 roster included; Terry Grant, Glen Coffee, Roy Upchurch, DJ Hall, Darius Hanks, Andre Smith, Mike Johnson, Brandon Deaderick, Wallace Gilberry, Josh Chapman, Rolando McClain, Eryk Anders, Prince Hall, Simeon Castille, Kareem Jackson, Rashad Johnson, Cory Reamer and Javier Arenas. The cupboard was in no way bare for Saban. Shula was a crap coach but he could recruit.

How about 2007? If you want to compare, then compare both first years. Look, this loss is humiliating. But Saban lost to MSU and LA- MONROE - a Sunbelt school at the time! That loss was just as humiliating and he followed that up by losing to Auburn. It looks terrible right now, but it's an all new staff with all new players to them and it's their fifth game in. Saban lost to La Monroe the 11th game in. They'll learn from this... at least they better!

IMO, that loss on Saturday was more like the loss to Garcia and South Carolina than it was ULM or some of the others.

I mentioned this below but just saw you commented on what I had originally said. It’s not an apples to apples comparison ie Saban’s loss to Louisiana Monroe in his first season versus DeBoer’s to Vandy. Saban took over a bad team filled with players who didn’t know how to win. DeBoers was given an elite roster filled with NFL caliber players at every level. And those players know what winning takes. But I’ll give you some rope. Are you saying DeBoers needs time to build a roster? Or that he needs time to get adjusted to the SEC? I’ll buy the second but that too is different from Saban. Saban knew what it took to win in the SEC he just had to recruit players who could win in the SEC. DeBoers has the players … how long do you think it will take him to learn how to use them to win in the SEC? Other than the first half against Georgia, this team hasn’t looked like the Bama teams we were spoiled to watch play since 2008. Anyway, I’ve been saying the same thing since Saban resigned. It’s unfair to expect the coach who follows the GOAT to be another GOAT. Look I so hope DeBoers is it … but what are the chances Bama hired back to back GOATs? What to know why Bama has won NC’s in every decade since the 1920’s except for the 1950’s and 1980’s? It’s because Bama fans demand it. Auburn fans just want to beat Bama … Bama fans will only accept NC’s. DeBoers knew that when he took the job. The honeymoon at Bama only lasts a few weeks. It’s been more than a few weeks.
Interesting viewpoint. I don't agree that Saban took over a bad team - he took over a poorly coached team with lots of talent and there's a difference. As I posted elsewhere, the 2007 roster included; Terry Grant, Glen Coffee, Roy Upchurch, DJ Hall, Darius Hanks, Andre Smith, Mike Johnson, Brandon Deaderick, Wallace Gilberry, Josh Chapman, Rolando McClain, Eryk Anders, Prince Hall, Simeon Castille, Kareem Jackson, Rashad Johnson, Cory Reamer and Javier Arenas.

I'll give you some rope, too. I never said CKD needs time to build a roster. There's plenty of talent. But - just like Saban - he needs time to gel with his players and his new staff. To wit: The biggest single weakness in the second half against UGA and the game against Vandy was the defensive backfield. We lost 11 players from last year's squad from this group, including the best defensive backfield player in the country in Caleb Downs. We have young talent there on the roster, it will take more than 5 games for CKD and his staff to gel among themselves and gel with the players to produce better consistency.

I don't think this loss is any worse than the La Monroe loss. The big question is: How will they respond? That will determine what we look like down the road. There are A LOT of very young players on this team starting and getting significant playing time. And it's the NIL era. This is a tougher row to hoe than in the mid 2000s.

Saban is without question the GOAT and I've never seen a school replace a GOAT level coach with another GOAT level coach in succession. I don't expect that and I don't think most rational fans expect that either. But CKD is an excellent coach with a proven track record and I think he deserves more time than 5 games to show his full mettle.

PS - let's hope Saban doesn't give USCe and Tennessee any bulletin board material for those games!

What's hilarious is before that went viral, there was a shit ton of coverage about how hostile and toxic Vols fans were that weekend. Just a flood of videos of Vols fans on TikTok picking fights and acting like trash towards Alabama fans. The biggest one of course was Kerry Goode getting drinks poured on him. Others reported having golf balls thrown at them, girls getting their haired pulled by frat boys from Tennessee as they're exiting the stadium, etc.. Then I believe Clay Travis found footage of Burton doing that dumb shit and all of the attention went towards him.

I'd like to push Clay Travis him in front of a train.

This just happened on Saturday. Nowhere near the coverage.

Was watching that game in the hotel the other night... I was looking at my phone, but my buddy said a Vol player pushed a fan down or something while leaving the field... I guess that was what he saw? Though that view is from a phone, not the TV copy, so maybe it was something else?

That’s what I put at the end of my initial good bad ugly post after the game Saturday. I was at the 2010 game and it felt eerily similar. Got punched in the mouth early, had some bad turnovers, D never could get it going. Had a chance in the 4th and couldn’t get it done.

USCe did have Lattimore and Jeffries though.

Yep. Vandy was the bigger "upset" of the two but the feel of the games themselves and some similarities within them stood out to me.
