I'm having a difficult time finding anything that catches my attention, must less anything that I can stick with for more than a few episodes. I've been having o go back and rewatch old stuff I've already seen, but at least enjoyed to some degree. Last week it was Godless, a western on Netflix. I did start Lioness (Paramount+) last night... another Sheridan special... only 1 episode in and it's ok. Will watch episode 2 later tonight. Tried to watch the new Netflix series The Waterfront last week and dumped it after 1 episode. It felt like a really, really lazy Ozark that was thrown together with haste. I hate that I'm so picky about what I'll watch, but the bar remains high. Mentioned recently that I was giving Vikings a go... I lasted 2 seasons and had enough after the 1st episode of season 3.

Anyway, I'll take suggestions...

If you’re into “fantasy”.
Wheel of time is ok
Carnival row is ok
Rings of power is pretty good

Drama
Homecoming is pretty good
Absentia is ok

Sci-fi
Peripheral is pretty good.

I’m just spit balling on stuff you may not have seen. These are all prime series. I have plenty of time on my hands on occasion so I’ll binge at night sometimes, I be also suffer from insomnia bouts on occasion.

Also there is quite a few Korean shows I can’t remember the names of, that are pretty good. Koreans do fantiastic zombie stuff, if you care for that.

I'll look them up, haven't heard of any of them. Was it Koreans that did Squid Games? Tried to watch that a while back... awful.

Period pieces:
Vikings (which you gave a shot) I thought was pretty good)
Marco Polo is pretty good
The last kingdom is good.
Frontier is pretty good
Black sails is pretty good
Barbarians (season 1) is pretty good
Warrior is good (the one set in 19th century San Francisco China town it was actually pitched and thought up by Bruce Lee)

I believe all these are on Netflix. I’m sure if I really sit down go back and see what I’ve watched during my down times. It’s a lot.

First season of true detective was pretty good, predictable though.
I liked first 3 or 4 seasons of vikings but it got redundant and off the rails as it went on.
Hard to find a decent series, started on sopranos again

I need to go back and watch that... I stopped after a couple of episodes, but not because I didn't like it. Just got busy and then dropped HBO at the time.

Yeah, Vikings started off promising, but like most everything just got worse as it went on. These writers run out of runway and then just get too wild with stuff. Sheridan is a perfect example... most all of his stuff is great for a season or 2, then it falls apart unless you enjoy soap opera shit.

I don't watch a lot of TV. The last series I watched is Landman (although there's only been 1 season, so far). Before that, it was...hell I can't even remember. I used to watch broadcast TV, but for some reason one day I just stopped. I do watch a fair amount of movies, though (2-3 a week).

So far, Landman is good. The 2 women (wife and daughter) are major speed bumps... way too much of them, but Sheridan can't help himself with that. See also: Yellowstone.

Same here but didn't make it through E1. Holt McCallany has a lot to do with that as I've never liked anything he's done. But, that reminded me...

Did you ever watch Mindhunter?

I haven't. If that's the show I think it is, a good friend recommended it a while back too. And he's a tough grader on shows like I am. He's also a former investigator and usually hates shows dealing with law enforcement.

That's the one. It's a show where I watched each episode from start to finish in one sitting. That's the highest compliment I can give a series. If you enjoyed any of Criminal Minds, this will exceed that show (and I still watch that one on binges.)

One another ...

I started watching Manhattan in the last week or so. Two seasons...been watching it on Plex (I think.) To me it's a show mixed with a lot of protagonists ... I'm in S2 and still can't figure out if I like some of the characters. It's not your typical "atomic bomb" movie even though the characters are the same. (Coincidentally, "Jimmy" of Yellowstone has a supporting role with quite a bit of air time...Lloyd has a spot as well.)

In the Line of Duty. A British police procedural that ran four seasons. (There are some good mini-series in this genre on BBC, BritBox, et. al)

Have you watch the new CM on Netflix?

I'm going to give Animal Kingdom a try and see how it goes. Will report back. I also need to go back and finish The Americans... I was enjoying that years ago but around half way through I got busy and never finished it. May have to rewatch from the start... I recall a good bit of it but I'm sure I've forgotten too much detail to just pick up and start back. I don't even remember where I left off at.

I liked animal kingdom but never finished it as it followed the same path of most shows that hang around a little too long.
