Green-Hill had an amazing punch out thay was pure and really assisted a defense that was put into multiple bad situations by the offense. The other two when you look back were rookie mistakes where the ball carrier had to ball like Reggie Bush used to carry the ball back in the day, low and away from his body.
And LSU played like a not so good team offensively last night. Look at all the WIDE open dropped passes right on them and look at their quarterback sliding before the first down when he had more room and the false start right after it resulting in a punt.
The defense on the surface looked great. But they consistently give up third and long. Our linebackers drop into a spot and do not move. Our DB's do not put their foot into the ground and drive on the ball. I watched Red Morgan on two occasions sit there thinking he was getting an interception only for the receiver to keep driving out of his break right in front of him for the reception. Another third and long we had FOUR guys playing zone and within three yards of the receiver and just so happen to leave the passing line open for LSU to complete a 3rd and 12 I believe it was.
Getting pressure is a whole other deal. Yes, we finally got pressure late in the game. Pierre had a nice play mid-way through the game, but the rest of the pressure came against a young quarterback holding the ball too long just like Ty and missing open receivers. #14 was wide open across the middle in the endzone for them where one of us could have made the throw, but their quarterback never left his first read while he rolled to the sideline and hurt himself. Is that enough for you to know I'm not being too general about it all?
I'm not saying we are awful, I'm simply saying a Texas A&M, Indiana, and Ohio Staye with decent quarterbacks and skill guys will not miss on all of these mistakes we make and us survive. It's ok to say we need to improve. If you or anyone else go back and read what I say, I always question our defensive performance and admit it almost can't be explained. We give up so little points, but yet against Missouri, South Carolina, LSU, Vanderbilt, and Tennessee the games were always still in question and concern from everyone late into each of those games. Even the Georgia game was closer than it should have been and started wondering if we could keep holding up. How many here including
@Justneedme81 talked about this game not being close or concerning? I can tell you the feel in the stadium was not good last night. Probably the first Alabama game I've ever been to and was just bored waiting on something good to happen and the overall pace of the game was not fun. I could keep going on, but this was not a #4 team to me and we did not play as if so many expected. Kind of tired of hearing "Alabama gets everyone's best shot". Well no kidding, so does Georgia, Ohio State, and all other high ranking programs. It's not an excuse to me. We very well could go on to win it all. I am proud of where this defense has come from the Florida State game and if you look at all my Good, Bad, and Ugly's I make note of this defense and call out who has played well and who hasn't. I support them all. And guess what, I was ridiculed for how upset I was for Domani Jackson, and now his ass is riding the bench. All I heard was "he's a high NFL pick", "he's not going anywhere", "why the hate for Jackson", and now Dijon Lee is kesrning and performing extremely well. That deflection in the endzone last night was text book and right where I was sitting and just looked great. He breaks down and makes tackles and is going to continue to grow and perform. Told him parents that after the Tennessee gane when I met them. It's not all venom from me, just an honest approach to it all. We have a ton of room to approve and our middle backers struggle with gap responsibilities and we get washed. Sabb is struggling, but luckily Hubbard bails a lot of these guys out after a slow start. He called himself out and has answered the bell ten fold. Keenan has been solid and really holds the line together. Green-Hill has been terrific. Jefferson has been great at times, but slow at times, but overall good. As I said, lots of room to grow with everything still in front of us. I'll leave this alone as I'm sure everyone is wanting me to shut up at this point.
