| FTBL The Good, The Bad and The Ugly vs. Vandy?

How long ago, and who was it that said anytime Bama scores 17 points the defense should be playing well enough to win...every time. I'm somewhat interested in the GOAT might have to say about yesterday. Bama scored 35 points...and lost.

ROLL TIDE!

Its funny. I went to bed last night thinking....
In 1969 ...bama had just come off in one of most thrilling games ever...
Manning vs Hunter. ...ole ms vs bama....bama 33-ole ms 32... beyond exciting...back and forth... writers proclaiming bama best in land...
One of few night games that had been televised... incredible...
next week...lost to ....vandy.... ...laid an egg

Just wanted to share another painful memory
Thank you for this salving memory. lol! Can you now recount the 17-16 Barn game? Just kidding sir!

Disappointing - Maybe just a sign of the times. A 'heartfelt" message from Milroe popped up on my feed. The content of the message was good, but it lost me when the tag at the bottom was a sales pitch for a hoodie....

FWIW, if that’s a Facebook thing you saw it isn’t from Jalen. It’s from someone pretending to be him, making money off his likeness… which is why the hoodie pitch was added. Not sure if that’s what you saw or not, but there’s a couple out there doing it, and have been doing so for a while. The people behind the accounts deserve the worst possible things that can happen to them.

That was probably it...

Please expound on this. I haven't heard.
So there was back and forth tweets between me and few other people. He was telling folks that the game was on the players and most of us were saying it's on the coaches as well. He doubled down and was being defiant toward us and then he resorted to immature behavior and I had to tell him to chill out and his behavior was not good look for him and he didn't care. He just went down rabbit holes and wouldn't stop. I told him that's why he got fired from the show because of similar behavior and he don't know how to calm down. I blocked him and he posted my picture and called me fairweather fans. It was ridiculous.

Good: Don’t know how to find “Good” losing to Vandy. Still believe CKD is a good hire. Just believe he’s getting a dose of SEC football and will adjust accordingly or not, all up to him.

Bad: How many sacks did we have? Penalties, turnovers.

Ugly: When Vandy outplays you and makes a play on defense (strip sack) needed to win the game. You have to look in the mirror and find yourself and your desire, heart, determination and refusal to lose. It wasn’t there Saturday. 2 choices. Get it fixed or we can lose 3 or 4 more games this year. Saturday we would have made Peyton Thorne look like Tom Brady.

Went to the game today, not a to of fun. Would like to see the tv replay before going too deep into some things, but here's what I walk away with...

Good- Milroe actually did some good things overall, but he sure didn't seem to get much help... he was swimming against the current all game it looked like.

Bad- DL play, again... just way too inconsistent. But, the defense as a whole was on their heels a lot, Vandy was one step ahead all game, which is a credit to them. They called about a perfect game.

Needed more out of the run game, much more.

Also, while I try to walk softly when it comes to targeting the poor play of a player in some areas, Pritchett showed on the Milroe sack/fumble why he can't be counted on. I know Formby struggled, but he was trusted between the ears, which gave him a leg up early on. Not sure if it was shown on TV, but Pritchett lost his cool on the play before, had to be calmed down by a teammate as he was likely headed for an unsportsmanlike penalty. Then he walks to the line, still frazzled and all into his feelings, and lets the guy run right by him, BAM, sack, fumble. He walls off the field, pissed that he let it happen, and slams his helmet to the turf (after a brief conversation with DeBoer).

If you're going to return a kickoff from this point onward this season, DON'T FUMBLE IT.

Vandy's stadium sucks.

Ugly- 3rd down defense has been stout all year... terrible today. Vandy was 12-18 and 1-1 on 4th. Wommack is going to have to get some things fixed. Most disheartening thing, not being able to get a stop on Vandy's last drive when they really just lined up and made Bama their bitch.

I left the game just as the penalty on Moore was happening for kicking the ball, so I didn't see it, only knew a fla was thrown. Unacceptable. On one hand, I guess I'm glad it meant something to him I guess... he showed some fire, but damn. Use it to make some plays, not look like a 5 year old kid having a meltdown on the cereal aisle.

Pretty much everything else too.... BUT... Having two #2's on the field at the same time. Look, a lot of stuff went wrong, some dumb mistakes, some dumb calls, all sorts of dumb. HAVING TWO #2 ON THE FIELD AT THE SAME TIME IS A LEVEL OF INCOMPETENCE THAT IS HARD TO EVEN FATHOM. That can't happen in a HS game, it sure a hell can't happen an in SEC game. Zero excuses. That isn't having 12 guys on the field, which would be bad enough, it's DUPLICATE NUMBERS. Why? It almost happened a week ago, but was saved by an assistant. Nobody figured at that point, hey, maybe we need to fix this shit? I just don't get it. I wanted to kill someone. Still do, to be honest.

You don’t want to see the replay. I started to when I got home and had to turn it off. This Vandy team is the same team that lost to Georgia State … Georgia State!!!! The Louisiana Monroe game hurt but it wasn’t a complete shocker. It was after all Saban’s first season of taking over a pretty bad team. DeBoer’s was given the keys to a Bentley but he’s driving it like a Yugo. I truly don’t recall the last time I felt a bit embarrassed to be a Bama fan in another team’s stadium. By the way, it’s no wonder Vandy can’t get the four star players who have the smarts … they see the facilities and run. The stadium smell reminded me of Legion Field. Oh well, it’s just a college football game (I’ve had to repeat that mantra to myself about ten dozen times since the first series through the drive home and before I went to bed. Since awakening I’ve only had to repeat it a few dozen times).

That's an interesting emotional take. We want @Brandon Van de Graaff to give his take a d share what he thinks and know might happen

How about 2007? If you want to compare, then compare both first years. Look, this loss is humiliating. But Saban lost to MSU and LA- MONROE - a Sunbelt school at the time! That loss was just as humiliating and he followed that up by losing to Auburn. It looks terrible right now, but it's an all new staff with all new players to them and it's their fifth game in. Saban lost to La Monroe the 11th game in. They'll learn from this... at least they better!
I mentioned this below but just saw you commented on what I had originally said. It’s not an apples to apples comparison ie Saban’s loss to Louisiana Monroe in his first season versus DeBoer’s to Vandy. Saban took over a bad team filled with players who didn’t know how to win. DeBoers was given an elite roster filled with NFL caliber players at every level. And those players know what winning takes. But I’ll give you some rope. Are you saying DeBoers needs time to build a roster? Or that he needs time to get adjusted to the SEC? I’ll buy the second but that too is different from Saban. Saban knew what it took to win in the SEC he just had to recruit players who could win in the SEC. DeBoers has the players … how long do you think it will take him to learn how to use them to win in the SEC? Other than the first half against Georgia, this team hasn’t looked like the Bama teams we were spoiled to watch play since 2008. Anyway, I’ve been saying the same thing since Saban resigned. It’s unfair to expect the coach who follows the GOAT to be another GOAT. Look I so hope DeBoers is it … but what are the chances Bama hired back to back GOATs? What to know why Bama has won NC’s in every decade since the 1920’s except for the 1950’s and 1980’s? It’s because Bama fans demand it. Auburn fans just want to beat Bama … Bama fans will only accept NC’s. DeBoers knew that when he took the job. The honeymoon at Bama only lasts a few weeks. It’s been more than a few weeks.
