šŸˆ The Good, The Bad and The Ugly vs. LSU

Another good: got in at halftime from a full day at the soccer fields, dug around in the attic and found an old digital antenna. Taped it to a window, plugged her in and attached to a spare tv. Found ABC and the picture was incredible. I don’t think the tv I used is 4k, but the picture was super clear and crisp and the color was excellent. Couldn’t have been clearer on the 8k.

Another bad… we were 4-13 on 3rd down. Worst I can remember for a while. They were good defensively, but that good? A&M had 14 points on them in the 1st quarter and was 7-10 on 3rd down, so it can be done.

Do a scan of th local channels. If it’s like Birmingham area, most of the stuff on OTA is as good or better than the shit we pay for!

A lot of passion on the board which is what makes Bama football so great.... To add to much of what has been said we can all agree Ty was not as sharp as he has been and can be. Been that way for a couple of games now. He was playing so well earlier in the year anything that does not measure up seems like a failure even though it really only shows he is human and a first year starter that still has a lot to learn. Add on top of that the poor running game and you get what we are seeing. Hope Ty returns to his play earlier in the year but I am afraid the Defenses are adjusting to the fact we cannot run the ball.... Regardless we are going to need Ty at his best and that still may not be enough against great teams and our run offense.

Another point that seems to be a challenge for some to understand is that if you point out flaws it is not saying the team is awful just saying those things are going to get the team beat if it continues. Not all teams can take advantage of those Bama mistakes but the better ones can and will. Yall do not have to go back far to when the head man would say things just like this in his press conferences all the time where the team needed to improve. That is what made him one of the greatest of all times. He always had a bigger picture view and knew if the team did not fix those things they would not achieve their goal.

I believe Nussmeier's play may have qualified as God awful.
Only bad play from him really was the bad sack he took on their 2nd FG drive I think. He was efficient with the throws given him but their OC didn’t do him any favors with no deep throws, keeping his attempts right around 5-6 yard average. Now he did start seeing some ghosts and held onto the ball.

@Bammerboy321 Ty ā€œGod awfulā€? Seriously? Was he perfect? By no means and he did miss some throws, but I wouldn’t say he was God awful! You want to know God awful is? How about 10-25 135 yards 0TDs and 5Ints?

God. Awful.

The biggest thing Alabama didn't anticipate... was LSU was actually playing for a coach that they really cared about... for two weeks the interim head coach made practices extremely physical and more old-school... the team showed it on the field... LSU wanted to win that game for the coach, because maybe they wanted him to be the permanent coach.. IF BRIAN Kelly was still there we would've beat them handlily.. that is a warning when we play Auburn.. I believe Auburn is looking for a reason to hire Durkin because the team has responded to him in a big way... plus they believe Durkin will attract. Bobby Petrino as offensive coordinator if he is hired..

I think we left plays on the field on offense with a few missed throws. If we had made them the game feel and scoreboard would have been a lot different.

I'm not arguing that... but what I'm saying is we met a team we wasn't expecting to meet.. that team was better than they've shown all year physically wise..

I still think at least on offense it was more about what we didn't do than what LSU did. They did control the line of scrimmage for the run game but who hasn't against us. They also put some pressure on Ty BUT he still just missed throws. You could say it was because LSU sped him up is why he missed and maybe that was the case. Lots of variables...

That wasn't god awful. That was a complete insult to the QB position. His entire play after UGA (minus vs LSU and Mizzou) was a complete abomination. TY didn't have his best game yesterday but he's been very good this year, with very good games vs UGA, TN, and Mizzou where he made elite throws. I think he'll step it up vs OU and connect on more deep throws.

It's amazing how Ty has elevated our expectations. I think thay shows how quickly he had everyone buying in. A number of us knew it last year, but it's tough on him as he can see extreme highs and even his lows are elevated above so many of his counterparts.

IMO, Ty's biggest issue right now is the lack of run game is putting Bama behind the chains early and he's pressing and putting too much pressure on himself. It's like watching a hitter in baseball who feel like he has to hit a HR every time up instead of just getting on base any way possible like he normally does. The touch on his passes the last couple of games has been off at times, usually in situations where Bama needs big yardage on 3rd down. He puts a lot of pressone himself under normal circumstances as it is, but I bet he feels the weight is 10x stronger when they can't get easy yards on the ground and the defense knows it.

Ty needs to become more dual threat sometimes... I think wasn't he the number one dual threat out of high school?.. he needs to start using his legs instead of throwing some ill advised passes sometimes...

Haven't seen many ill advised throws... off target on same lately, yes. But he's not making bad reads and throwing it up for grabs. The plays are there to be made.

What's wrong with our blocking at the LOS? My opinion.
It seems as though the opponent's DL gets off before our Ol.
They can anticipate our snap and get off before we do giving
them an advantage against our huge and slow OL. If we could
somehow mix up our snap count ( clap ), so our OL could could
get the jump on the DL, we might possibly open more holes
for our RB's. AND maybe a little bit better protection for Ty.

Maybe this post should have been in a different thread.

1. We are very slow getting off the ball.
2. Long developing run plays.
3. Jam dancing around too much.
4. Seldom run jumbo packages with an extra OL or H back.

Glad that game is behind us and we won. I was worried about #14 for LSU being a problem but instead he actually helped Bama with his drops

The defense played pretty well. 41 and 42 are making progress as is 31,94,90,11, and 8. Looks like 1 is more a backup at this point.
24 looks like he could be a real player

Punter was excellent and the PK did well with the exception of that one bad angle miss. Bonus points for 3 for his downing the punt at the goal or saving it.
The punchout by 41 was great

90 for LSU on defense was a load. Really good DL.

It will be interesting to see if Kalen retains his OL when the socks and jocks are put away
We played three LG's 71 started followed by 70 and 56 most all the 2nd half.
Not sure what the problem is with this bunch unable to move folks off the ball but after 9 games it hasn't gotten much better
Bama most always had a RB that was really good but not this year. 4 is the better back (JMO) and 26 is just average. He starts juking way too early instead of just hitting the hole plus he is just slow.

Bama depends so much on 15 playing well for us to win. Last week and this week he struggled with his accuracy, and it prevented Bama from putting the games away. Since we can't run the ball, passing is the only way to indeed put games away. These stupid 1st down runs are taking a down away from 15 being able to win the down and distance war.

81 looks to be a future star but he needs to speed up his game right now.

Bama vs OU is The Game. Is Bama for real or just a better than average team getting by on the play of a good QB? I don't know the answer to that question. I am glad LSU sent everybody they had to get 15 yesterday. The OL got a lot of work trying to protect him which should help vs OU.

I would like see Bama in the pistol formation more with 4 behind 15 and run downhill more. What we're doing now is clearly not working for the running game

He was a good running QB but always tried to stay in the pocket as long and possible. Pass was options 1, 2 and 3. And often option 4. Run was down the list, but he was pretty fast. Deceptively. Anyone remember his -85 yard scamper a couple of years ago in mop up duty? The one where he dropped the ball before cross pay dirt.
