| FTBL Updates on Alabama players that are entering the transfer portal...

Not sure on specifics from his end of it in terms of the foot injury... I'd heard he was expected to go pro but would have been welcomed back. Guess he wants to solidify his draft positioning with plans of a full healthy season as the feature back elsewhere. To me, coming back is a gamble if he has a 3rd injury... but he will probably be fine either way.

One thing I'll add on this... I'm not saying this is exactly what is going on with Jase, but it is going on...

A post from December 16...

Was talking to someone (not associated with UA) the other day about all this... The transfer stuff is now as wild, and in some cases wilder, than the actual recruiting of HS kids which is out of control in it's own right. This transfer stuff adds in tampering and agents to the pot, not to mention the similar type of high bidding seen at the HS recruit level. In some cases, guys who are draft ready are instead shopping around for NIL deals... NFL agents are having to recruit against schools now, something that they've never had to do. But for UA, this is also a reminder that while it has, and will still happen on occasion... very few guys that Saban really wants to keep in the fold, will bolt. But unless/until some changes are made or unless/until a high water mark on this circus is reached, it's going to continue to be absolutely crazy out there... unregulated free agency.

Hmm...To Kiffin's credit, this is an upgrade, but still... :what:

The ultimate offensive sign stealing operation… these guys know our signs..

I believe that the portal will be more of a danger to teams inner security than Jim Harbaugh could ever be..

If a team doesn't change their signals up often (regardless of circumstance) they deserve to have them stolen.

Consider This What if Scenario:

Jase McClellan returns for another year

Who do we lose from the RB room?

Jam Miller
Justice Haynes
Richard Young

Personally I think we lose Justice Haynes, he's probably tired of waiting and the depth chart looks more like

Jase/Miller/Young rotation with the incoming Freshman backing them up.

Now all this aside, I think Jase should go Pro. I discussed this before, his stock won't rise much if he comes back for another season. He does all the things that pros want. If he has a good combine showing and pro-day he could rise up to 3rd or 4th round. If he stays where he's at he's currently 4th or 5th round pick-up.

If he came back for a year, I'd expect them to give him a 3rd round grade so in reality there's not much to gain from coming back. If he were to have a bad year and come back, he'd likely receive a 7th round grade. It's a huge gamble here and I think at least for me, the safest bet is to just get drafted and try to make the 53 man roster and go from there.

I really like McClellan and I hope he stays. If he goes, I wish him great success in the pros.

That being said, I'm not sure he will have the NFL success of some of our backs. He reminds me most of Jacobs, Damien Harris and Ingram, but falls short of each. He's slightly less shifty than Jacobs, and looks to me to lack top end speed (like Harris), and he lacks the tackle-breaking power of Ingram.

I hope giving Haynes the ball in the playoff game helps keep him around.

We need to do a freeze about one year on rbs, qbs, and wrs.. we need good linemen on both sides and tight ends..blocking and defensive penetration as a focus..a small class next year.. and a large one the next
