| FTBL Updates on Alabama players that are entering the transfer portal...

I really like McClellan and I hope he stays. If he goes, I wish him great success in the pros.

That being said, I'm not sure he will have the NFL success of some of our backs. He reminds me most of Jacobs, Damien Harris and Ingram, but falls short of each. He's slightly less shifty than Jacobs, and looks to me to lack top end speed (like Harris), and he lacks the tackle-breaking power of Ingram.

I hope giving Haynes the ball in the playoff game helps keep him around.
Yea, but a lot of us didn't believe Brian Robinson would be good in the pros but look at him.

One thing Jase does well is Pass Protection and Catching the ball out of the backfield. He's not world beating at breakaway speed but neither was Najee Harris but both of them did great on pass blocking and getting open out of the backfield.

I think Jase will be a good workhorse back at the next level and while he may not have a 10+ year career he could likely see 5-6 good years as long as injuries don't derail him.

Consider This What if Scenario:

Jase McClellan returns for another year

Who do we lose from the RB room?

Jam Miller
Justice Haynes
Richard Young

Personally I think we lose Justice Haynes, he's probably tired of waiting and the depth chart looks more like

Jase/Miller/Young rotation with the incoming Freshman backing them up.

Now all this aside, I think Jase should go Pro. I discussed this before, his stock won't rise much if he comes back for another season. He does all the things that pros want. If he has a good combine showing and pro-day he could rise up to 3rd or 4th round. If he stays where he's at he's currently 4th or 5th round pick-up.

If he came back for a year, I'd expect them to give him a 3rd round grade so in reality there's not much to gain from coming back. If he were to have a bad year and come back, he'd likely receive a 7th round grade. It's a huge gamble here and I think at least for me, the safest bet is to just get drafted and try to make the 53 man roster and go from there.

This pretty much falls in line with my thoughts... If his foot injury isn't red flagged by teams then he could sneak into the 3rd round if things go really well for him.

So the portal is officially closed on Bama's players but that doesn't mean it's over. We still have the possibility of people who got their paperwork done last night and it may take until Monday or Tuesday to process it.

Graduate Transfers can transfer whenever they please to do so also, we may have a few of those either this period or after spring if any of them graduate and want immediate release and playing time elsewhere.

So scuttlebutt is Jase is going to the NFL now, he thought about returning to Bama. He did not consider the transfer portal like all the random twitter people thought he was.

The decision was between returning to Bama for 1 more year or going Pro.
