| FTBL Updates on Alabama players that are entering the transfer portal...

Bond was wanting more money, more than Bama was willing to pay. That was going on before Saban left. Proctor had to be talked into staying by Saban recently as well... that was an ongoing thing. He wants to get closer to home, at least that was his reasoning. He had agreed to stay through the spring, but then Saban retired and that pretty much went out the window.

Did Bama player to play, because what I was hearing was CNS wouldn't pay to plays?

We can put lipstick on this pig if you want but you do not lose the quality of players as Downs and Bonds and act like business as usual. The reality is the CNS factor is no longer in Tuscaloosa. CKD does not have the same street credibility. Will he one day sure but not right now. Bama still has the name but Bama with CNS was unstoppable. Bama w/o him will still be good but do not expect there not to be some down years (not sure how down). CKD is getting a clinic on the cut-throat recruiting in the SEC. He will have to significantly up his game as will the big donors in this area because we will not attract the same level of talent with less money because of CNS was the coach.

This is just the new world we are in post CNS.

I used to say Les Miles won because of the foundation the CNS laid. We have a great foundation but LSU did not have to deal with NIL and the portal. It took Les Miles 10 years to destroy what CNS built. It will not take that long because of the portal today. The flip side is that CKD should have a path to stop the bleeding as well. I doubt it will be a zero sum game because of how great Bama has been and the elite talent we have had.

I am holding my hope on the system that is in place and CKD past experience as a winner that he will flip this but not w/o a glitch.

I don't think anyone is saying there won't be a glitch. Personally, I'm saying, some people are overreacting to some of this. We knew a lot of guys were leaving. A handful of them hurt... Proctor, Downs, Amos... Bama needs to hold onto as many key pieces as possible. But realistically, they were going to lose some when they lost Saban. The good news is, come spring, the handcuffs are off Alabama, and DeBoer & Co. can play the game too. What comes around, goes around. But this is a short term issue... Yes, Bama is bleeding right now. But Bama is also in position to put this back together pretty quickly.

With the NIL and transfer portal IMO CNS Is just the first of many to retire or go to the pros. I don’t believe Smart, Day, Sark, DeBoer, Dabo, and many others will be college head coaches at 65.

I 5000% agree with this and currently one of those idiots. I am definitely rethinking my entire position here because it'll be car purchasing time for my four and these donations would allow me to pay cash for those vehicles. Cars for my kids or what we are seeing with college football???
Well you just need to put your kids in their place and tell them that their own needs and vehicles will be addressed ONLY AFTER daddy helps to contribute millions of dollars, luxury cars, gold chains, $500 shoes, to kids who don’t have half of your commitment to Bama or to the values you try instilling at home. 🤡

I still do not think about this first. I guess I need to shift my mindset because Bama/CNS and champonships would have been more than $$$ to me but easier for me so say I guess.

Bame + CKD still has to prove themselves. Said this in another thread no CNS bump but we do have the Bama bump but this NIL thing is crazy.

With transfers out and in with a roster as elite as Bama it will not be a zero sum game and it strengthens our competition.

Wanted be to closer to home was the way it was worded to me, I figure homesick. For those that may not remember, he almost signed with Iowa to begin with... Saban had to play ball with him and got the flip.

Yep, I knew that was a big "last minute" flip. Oh well. I don't get so worried about linemen as I do specialty skill positions. Bond is a tough one to replace, though I think we can find someone as speed is out there so it's not as hard to find. Downs leaving chaps my backside. It's extremely tough to replace a defensive back because it takes a certain kind of guy to come from where he did at the beginning of the season to the end of the season. Knowing you have to fill that role is a tough one to swallow. I do feel if we keep Haynes, Sayin, Mbawkwe, Booker, Lawson I'll be happy.

Alabama is in a sitting ducks situation right now. I'd make a Pearl Harbor analogy if I knew folks wouldn't take it the wrong way (there, I kinda did it anyway, without having to actually do it). But to quote the goat, "We just gotta survive the shitstorm." Saban was talking about Gus' play call script in the 1st quarter in auburn. I'm saying Bama has to survive and just get out of this 30 day window with as few substantial losses as possible.
