| FTBL Updates on Alabama players that are entering the transfer portal...

Coach Saban is gone. His style of defense is gone. That means something to exhisting players.

Downs has always been a smart & savy kid. He made a very calculated decision to come to Alabama. I can see him even being pragmatic at waiting on the new D-Coordinator & his defensive philosophy. Turns out, it just didn't appeal to him.

Deboer & staff have got to use this as a lesson that THEY have to build a SOLID team that produces well on the field. And we have to come to those terms too. UNTIL then, nothing is given.

I certainly don't like any of this but it is what it is. And hope this galvanizes Deboer to bust ass & come out with a vengence in 2024.
We will have a great team, when we separate the “wheat from the tares”…these events will bring this team much closer…

Find us $4-5M to pay him then instead of blaming "us". That's what I'm hearing Georgia offered.
I wonder how sustainable that is in college football? I mean the turn rate has got to be High with the portal and new players every year. Can boosters really afford to drop all the millions they are currently over a 5/10/15 year period? Are they just doing it now because they know eventually it'll get pulled in a bit? I just don't see how any program can sustain the cash burn rate that some of these programs are throwing around at players.

My love for College football was the driven from the pride and identity the players seemed to develop over many years with the program. They loved the school and the program. They bleed Crimson and White... Now... I don't think we will see that any more. College ball is becoming what I hate most about the NFL. Players for hire.

It's unreal how much money is on the streets. @It Takes Eleven can speak to it, but I don't think it's sustainable, but up front there is so much money in the hands of people in the world at the moment it is unreal.

College football really sucks right now. Wild west with no freaking rules. The game as a whole has been tarnished.

Is it really true that our boosters are not ponying up NIL that can compete with these other schools?

I think the push for rules and a CFB P5 Commissioner will be in the next year or two. Once schools start struggling or coaches leave and big time schools get gutted again. Like UM and LSU may get gutted here soon. There will start to be a cry for changes.

I think there are a handfull of programs that can afford that burn rate. Keep in mind, this is dealing w/ boosters who have 8, 9, 10 digits in their bank accounts. This isn't about costs for them. It's about notariety for bringing in players. Programs with these type of boosters can do this ALL the time. But they will have to win championships w/ these players for these rich boosters to be validated for their contributions.

'Bama is not one of those programs. I truly believe CNS saw this from the beginning, begging the his question "Is this what we want college football to be?"

Also, if this trend continues at these astronomical rates, the non-revenue producing schools & sports programs are either going to wilt into oblivion or create their own new, intercollegiate conferences.

Wonder how some of these players are going to feel when their NIL deals are pulled because a team bought someone better. Or how some of these players are going to feel because they aren't getting the ball given to them as much as they want. You've got to believe that there are going to have locker room issues and coaches who get fed up with a team filled with premadonna's and players constantly on the move to "greener pastures".

I think the proverbial kernel of popcorn stuck in everyone's throat, especially mine, is .... sure we knew some of the guys were going to transfer. Hell, that's how we got Amos to begin with (as one example). We will use this very same portal to grab a few of our own like the DB at Washington that is set to take a visit.

The thing that royally pisses any of us off is if that player decides to go to fooking Georgia! Fooking Georgia! Next in line for any moral outrage is if any player goes to Gosh damn Tejas! Tejas! Aside from Auburn, the most insufferable fan bases of them all because, let's face it. The guy going to Syracuse? The guy going to Tulane? Couldn't give a shit but those guys going to UGAg and Tejas? Fuck those guys and Trob too.
