Milroe pass to Niblack in end zone. Niblack got a foot down & caught the ball behind the defenders helmet. (Aka Prothro) . Ref ruled incomplete - no review
Milore threw a pass into the back of the endzone, Niblack makes a contested grab and appeared to get a foot in. Ruled incomplete... whatever, not a huge deal, it was close. But replay official was either asleep at the wheel or horrible at his job, because they never stopped play to look at it closer. The ball might have squirted loose a bit when he hit the ground, but it was hard to see. At the very least, it should have been reviewed.
All I can say is that I am glad Mr. Steele is our DC this year along with Mr. Bala as the ILB coach. We really would be floating down Shit Creek without a paddle if Pete Golding was still the DC. And no, the defensive issues weren't all his fault, but this is the first defense we've had since 2017 that appears to be more physical and well coached. They have a long road ahead of them, but they are one good DL coach away from being championship caliber.
Mr. Rees I'd say is meh at this stage. I'd give him a B- at this point. I think some of the growing pains we'll see on offense is on account of the fact that Rees is still pretty much a kid himself. His unit has improved however.
The SEC has a lot of parody this year, and its shaping up to be a year like 2005 IMO. I think it is going to be very hard for this team to go into aggie land and beat Texas A&M. Ultimately, I don't think this team is championship caliber, but I do think their ceiling is 11-2 with a possible upset over Georgia in the SEC title game.

In general I agree but I also have seen several cases where Milroe holds onto the ball and refuses to drop the ball down to take the easier throw. Take what the defense gives them. Several times the RB in the flat is open and he just does not throw it down. If Reese is calling the plays but Milroe is not executing the way it is called not sure what Reese can do other than coach him up during the game and in the film room.

I wonder (pure speculation) if he has been told to go ahead & run on those shorter routes unless they are WIDE open & no more than his second read. Less risk of an INT. And maybe, as he matures & the game slows down he'll be able to handle the congestion of the shorter routes.
But what is very clear now is that he has been told to run after a certain amount of time. Which I am fine because every defense is going to change their play after his 50 yard TD scamper. Hell, he was barely shoe stringed on that last TD run where he split the safety & CB. All he has to do is scamper like that once or twice & the entire defense will creep in & then BOOM the long ball.

Good - 3 ints and 4 sacks
Bad - Giving up 150 yds rushing
Ugly - SEC officiating
Why does the best college football conference have the worst refs? That end zone play to Niblack was clearly pass interference. The DB never looked at the ball and hit Niblack well before the ball got there. If that were a Bama DB that would have been called every time. There were a couple of more plays where Bama receivers were clearly being held. In the last few years Bama opponents have been the least penalized in the SEC. That trend continues this year.

I have noticed this year, college and pro, that they aren't making that pass interference call as much if a guy doesn't turn around. Glad they are making an adjustment after it caused us some losses the last few years, but still frustrating not knowing how to judge and apply these rules.
Good: Not having to hide from MSU fans at work Monday
Bad: Actually thinking I may have to hide form MSU fans at work on Monday
Ugly: Only 9 points in the second half against a depleted MSU team
Youāre seeing something Iām missing on the o-line slowly getting better. On almost every snap someone misses an assignment or gets a penalty or just flat out gets beat. They donāt play with passion and thereās not an alpha. Theyāre obviously physically gifted but appear to be dumb as a sack of rocks. That or they just donāt care. Saban has landed numerous 5 Star linemen the past several years but Iād rather he go back to recruiting 3 Star and low 4 Star and develop them. Go back to finding guys who play with passion and have a nasty streak. Recruit linemen who are hungry and maybe not coming in with huge NIL deals. Do something different cause whatever theyāve been doing aināt working. Of course I could say a lot of the same things about the d-line. During the meat of the dynasty Bama dominated the lines of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. Bryce covered over a lot of issues that without him shine brightly.
They still arenāt very good, but I feel like theyāre playing a little better than what I saw against Texas, I think itās probably going to be next year before we really see what they have. Itās unfortunate that they arenāt really playing up to what I think we all thought they would.
