I'm not saying you're wrong here, but it isn't as simple is just changing the S&C staff. If there is a problem (and IMO there are) fix the problem, don't create new ones. There are some voices that could be brought in that would help, IMO. But, I'd also add, there are other things that have eroded the ultimate motivation of players in the last 5 years. Look around the landscape and it's easy to see. I think I could make a case that the 3 star players are a hungrier group than the 4 and 5 stars these days with the way the system is now set up. And that certainly benefits a team like Indiana.

And no, I'm not saying Bama needs to quit signing 4 and 5 star players.

Any great defensive scheme HAS TO STOP THE RUN...... AND PRESSURE THE QB...... Captain Obvious here, but some things don't seem so obvious to some.

Some changes need to made in the coaching personnel circle and some mindsets need to change in some others. JMO

It's funny - and sad - to see the postgame comments that the program needs to burn down and start over. There are four teams left in the playoff. I didn't think we'd be among them. We avenged a loss against Oklahoma, a higher seeded team, to win in the first round. We got the number one seed and found out they probably deserved the seeding. Quizzical call on the 4th down in the first half. Tough fumble when Ty fractured a rib. I'm usually not one to complain about the officiating, but after three quick sacks their pass and run games were aided by holding non-calls. It wouldn't have made a difference in the game, but they were blatant.

I'm not sure how this college season will be memorialized. There are still two chapters to play out. A Texas Tech team turned a moonshot budget into a BYE but ran into an Oregon team that's been well-funded for years. Two other high-dollar NIL teams in OSU and Miami turned into a surprise. Ole Miss knocking out Georgia was unexpected for me, good story for Golding and another half million for Kiffin. IU is the blue collar team, undersized in some areas, and their D-line showed again the weakness of having really tall O-linemen. It smarts to have a Saban acolyte quote Saban about the imperative to run the ball.
 
Good - Austin Mack showed some poise and made a few nice throws.

Ugly-itā€™s time to blow up this staff. I canā€™t remember a game when Bama looked so bad. New OC, New O-Line Coach, New ST Coach, and 100% a new QB. Ty is not the answer. What do all the teams have in common that have moved on or played well in the playoffs? They all have a dynamic QB. We donā€™t have that. We have one that slides 2 yards from a 1st down, canā€™t see wide open receivers, and canā€™t hold on to the ball.
 
As a result of this loss, Alabama will most likely not be taken seriously from now until most of next season...The media and YouTube has been extremely brutal...They are really spiking the football..
 
How long has Herbstreit dreamed of saying this? He seemed to take an unusual amount of pleasure in Bama's misery. I guess he's still ticked off about Bama getting in over OSU back in the '17 playoff...

His OSU and B10 homer-ism was on full display when it became obvious there was no chance Bama would embarrass him by coming back to make him eat his words.

You tend to play like you practice. Good on good at Alabama practice should produce sparks due to the hitting in running game. That mentality is hard to capture in todayā€™s culture. You canā€™t work them like that anymore. It is indeed a fine line.

I was on the road and started listening on XMradio. It became quickly evident to me that this could be a repeat of the FSU game. Only thing was, Indiana is a much better team that the Noles. Shame and embarrassment should never be a feeling anyone connected with Bama's program should experience. A strong injection of humility, leading to an intense infusion of desire to re-ignite the excellence that WAS BAMA would be a good start.
If this squad learns a lesson from this, that will be good. But that lesson should have been experienced after the Noles, and again after the Jawja game. Might just as well taken a squad from Baker H.S.

What did he say that wasn't true? Need to face the reality of the situation. Cannot suger coat that performance a 2 others similar just this year.

I hear people say you can't do that anymore but no evidence to back it. I am sure it is a balancing act between that and injuries for sure. I do suspect that is exactly how physical teams run their practices. Stallings used to say something to the effect that his offensive style was designed to harden his defense.

This is a core issue in my view so no amount of learning or working harder by the players will fix that. Saban used to challenge the players because he knew the system was in place for them to be successful they just had to do their part. I am not sure that is the cases here. Honestly not sure what to make of it other than it is broken with that performance.

He has had slanted comments towards Alabama for longer than 2017. He - and every other media member - were distraught after the 2011 championship game over LSU.

That said, nothing he's saying here is wrong. Alabama hasn't done anything on the big stage to prove doubters wrong. Last season when we didn't make the playoffs, it would have been ideal for Alabama to come out and dominate Michigan. They had every reason too. Instead, the game proved they didn't belong. Yesterday didn't really help either.

We'll see what the future holds for DeBoer. He has a great recruiting class coming in and all the reason to go get an elite staff. But nothing will change if he doesn't fix the structure of his offseason to instill mental toughness and create a better winning culture.

Stupid HC decision....qb doesn't show toughness...D out of position...big n strong...but slow to make up for it..poor STs...

Not just competitive beat....but totally fucking embarrassed......3 time in 24.... 3 times this year. Outcoached..out played...out prepared...

This is ...ALABAMA football...
