🏈 Very Little Good, A Lot of Bad and The Incredibly Ugly vs. Kirby and Company

Good- If we want to honest about it and take away the childish emotions, the defense was good. They were continually put in shitty situations by the offense and were worn down by the end of the game. Keenan played his ass off.

Bama was only penalized once for just 5 yards. That is at least an area where the team has improved tremendously this season.

Bad- Pretty much everything else. I feel bad for him, but right now Simpson is broken mentally. He's completely lost his confidence to go along with his accuracy and touch. He's at his best when they go fast tempo because he's not thinking as much. A bad combo of bad throws to open (enough) guys that they can't make a play on and rare decent/good throws that are flat out dropped.

It's easy to throw blame on Grubb here too, and I think he deserves some for sure. But he's also in a really tough spot. These good defenses (OU, auburn, and UGA) know Bama isn't a threat running it. And they know Simpson can't make the throws that he made the first half of the season, when Bama was making hay with passes over the middle of the field. Other than running more tempo, more screens, and more off tackle stuff in the run game, I'm not sure what else he can try at this point that'll be effective.

Ugly- Specials teams. I was vocal from the beginning that special teams was a concern from a personnel and coaching standpoint. That blocked punt gave UGA a momentum boost that UA wasn't able to overcome. With margins of victories so thin these days in SEC play, special teams have never been more important. I've said this before, but it's even more clear today... This is an area DeBoer must adjust going forward and invest more in. Lot of good special teams coaches out there, get one and pay them.
Yes, and get a GOOD o-line coach, please.

I'd have been ok punting it too and hoping the defense could get a 3 and out, but with the time left (8 mins?), the defense getting worn down... even in that spot, I like the call to go for it. DeBoer has been very aggressive this season, and it has benefited the team much more often than not. Got bit that time, but it felt like it was doomed from the start with that play. I'd have been nervous to even ask Mahomes or Josh Allen to come in and make that throw in that situation. Much less Simpson right now. Though you know, with how things went, if he'd put it on the money, it would have probably been a drop. :cautious:

Simpson has left a lot of throws short this back half of the year. Almost like he has lost some strength and throwing falling off a lot.

Good - Williams and Bernard returned to form, a bright spot for us in the playoffs, or the Taxslayer Gator Bowl.

Bad - Ball security and special teams. We gave Georgia a short field twice on the blocked punt and the INT, then the big punt return, the missed 4th down conversion on our own nine, and finally our KO return to the thirteen. If our D played like our O, we'd have lost 63-7.

Ugly - Ty's accuracy and decision making. The 4th down throw was abysmal, and he missed on so many makeable throws. Hopefully he heals and retrenches for his next game. In my view, this game solidifies his return to Bama. He could have a stellar game in the playoffs (or at the Liberty Mutual Music City Bowl) that puts him back on the NFL radar, but I doubt it.

We got our butts whipped, and did nothing to help our case for a playoff berth. The talking heads are yammering. Personally, I still think we make it based on our win at their place, but who knows.

His touch and accuracy that he had earlier this season are gone. He's having to get shot up before each game, but at this point, I think it's more than that. He's lost in his head right now and it's impacting everything.

I expected Dear to finish with 2-4 carries for 10-15 yards each. And I really expected Hill to get more chances and average about 3 yards per. What I saw from our OL against Auburn’s D front made me optimistic tonight.
What have you seen out of Dear that would lead you to think he can get 10 yards on a carry. I have seen nothing out of him that even tends to show he is special. He didn't know the play and take thinks about running and then just hits the ground instead of heading up field. That was so embarrassing for Bama.

We've lost a lot of good players this year, but this is an excuse, not a reason for poor play that we saw tonight. Doubt if a full roster would have made any difference.

To win consistently in the SEC, you can't with trickery or smoke and mirrors. Mano o Mano. Line up and beat your man with raw power, diligent preparation and a Will to win.

We lost this game back during the week of preparation. Do the analyst escape with no criticism? I think not. I believe they play critical role in game planning, pointing out tendencies of your opponent and hopefully mismatches the team can exploit.

I hate zone defense. If you only plan to rush three, then please, Cover the receivers. Don't give the QB targets to throw to. Same as last week, in the beginning of the third quarter, we did get some pressure on the QB but allowed a wide open receiver to catch the ball along the sideline and run untouched to the end zone.

When all is said and done, we have played pretty good defense this year, statistics say, but spotty. Same with the offense. The game of football is the greatest game ever invented. But to win consistently, you have to line up and play with POWER. Not finesse, Not trickery or Smoke and Mirrors. If you are spending too much time practicing gadget or gimmick plays, you are taking away too much time from Real plays.
You also need to develop a plethora of route trees from any formation on any given down or any quarter. There is no substitute for a Good running game. It takes so much pressure off your QB, no excuse or reason Not to have a strong running game.

On defense, you Have to prepare to stop the run on Every down, no matter the field position, and if it is a pass play, you Must p Pressure the QB
and Cover All Potential Pass Targets. I know it's a tall order but that's why the coaches make the big bucks.

I may be wrong, but it looks like our coaches don't put much emphasis on special teams. Special teams will get you beat in a hurry.

That's unfortunate. He was so good early. I never thought he was as bad as most for Florida State and he got better. Hate he's supplementing just to play.

Good - Defense played well relative to the positions they were put in. You can't keep going 3 and out, giving the other team short fields and hope to hold up completely. They were the only unit to show up today and have been carrying this team for weeks now.

Bad - Every damn thing else. Offensively, we are one dimensional and even that dimension (the passing game) is mid. It has been looking bad for a long time now. It's clear we don't have the guys or the gameplan for the team to be where we want it to be. I don't like calling the "kids" out, they are pretty much professionals now tho. They get paid for this shit. Ryan Williams gets paid millions to be a catcher of the ball and can't catch. None of our backs, injured or not, have any vision, strength or wiggle to make plays on the ground. Our offensive line has gotten its shit pushed in literally all season, from game one to the SECCG. That's coaching ain't it? Why do they look so weak out there? That's strength & conditioning ain't it?

Ugly - The final product. It is what it is. This is a mediocre team that has managed to squeak by one elite team, some decent and other not-so-decent teams this year but can't, and hasn't, put a complete game together. Not once. We don't make needed adjustments. If we make the playoffs, I will root for them but I don't have any confidence in them.

Roll Tide

If Ty is in his head then that should be addressed as well and he should sit, he’s not performing well.

Good : the game is limited to a certain time limit.

Bad : seems as though the oline play has affected Ty’s play to the point he’s feeling pressure even when the oline does protect.

Ugly : our talented wide receivers limited to running 2 yard routes cause our oline play can’t protect on a 3 step drop. 5 guys running 2 yard ins, outs and curls. 😂

That's unfortunate. He was so good early. I never thought he was as bad as most for Florida State and he got better. Hate he's supplementing just to play.
Same here. And if he is so banged up, are the other QB’s that bad that they don’t get a chance when Ty can’t hit a barge? He was a liability for 3 quarters and it wasn’t the first game, clearly. I mean, people were talking about Heisman in week 5. That INT throw was awful. Some of the passes in the flat didn’t reach the receivers. Saban pulled Hurts when we were down 14, right? We were down 21 and Ty has 63 yards passing at one point and was still in there.

I agree with others in the special teams. They’ve sucked from early on and haven’t improved whatsoever. We’ve made many special teams blunders and failed to get big plays from special teams. We didn’t have any punt return yards against SEC teams for the most part (may not have had any), inconsistent FG kicking, short punts and blocked punts given up, poor KO and punt coverage. Returning KOs when we should‘t. Muffing punts. Poor snapping. What have we done good on special teams? If CKD keeps this special teams coach, we’ll continue to be in trouble.

Good- defense played admirably considering they were put in bad positions the entire game!

Bad- I could seriously write a book here. OL- awful! RB picking up blitzes- awful! Ty- damn son! If he’s injured, get him out!! DeBoer and Grubb- WTAF?

Ugly- OL coach- you need to walk your ass back to T’town, pick your shit up on the sidewalk.
Damn UGA fans are FAR AND AWAY THE MOST OBNOXIOUS I have ever been around!!!
