šŸˆ The Good, The Bad and The Ugly vs. AweBarn?

Tried not to read any of the others yet besides some early entries right after the game, but I'm sure a lot of this has already been covered since I'm late posting.

Good- A win over auburn. ALWAYS good. Always.

Isaiah Horton stepped up... what a time for his best game. He'll remember that one. Something about WR's named Isaiah that score big TD's in auburn for The Tide.

Jam Miller ran hard... still left some yards on the table, but he ran hard. That was good to see, up until his injury.

As a whole, the OL played well. Tough environment for them to communicate, but they did it well with few penalties. Brailsford played on 1 leg and held up ok. They opened some nice holes in the run game, especially early. Had a lot thrown at them in pass pro, and were not helped by some of the calls or Simpson's decisions at times. Cuevas being out hurt here a bit too, but they managed. The young TE's are having to grow up fast right now.

On defense... James Smith showed up and played hard. Lawson, Jefferson, and Nikahi Hill-Green all played well... Saab was sticking his nose in places trying to make things happen... Hubbard was good as always, dude is just an absolute menace out there... Red Morgan was good, Zabien Brown was spectacular in coverage.

Conor Freaking Talty. Dude goes out there and nails his first FG from 45 yards... then hits the other later from about 30. Good for him.

Bad- As mentioned before, he's playing through some stuff, but Ty Simpson still isn't taking some of the easier passes. He's still trying to force things instead. His touch on his passes is still lost as well. Credit where it's due... Ty's 3 TD passes were all really well thrown/placed balls. He also used his legs tonight to extend drives, knowing he was going to get pounded a time or two while doing so. Not his best game by any means, but he was out there giving it all he had. Respect for that.

A couple of busted plays/bad tackling on defense led to 14 of auburn's points.

Ugly- Up 17-0 and momentum all on Bama's side, Grubb calls his dumb trick play that blows up (predictably), immediately kills a drive with good field position, and completely flips the momentum of the game. Grubb (and this staff as a whole) do not handle prosperity very well... They are seemingly determined to take the most difficult path possible. I don't get too mad or too excited during games... that legit made me mad. Mostly because I knew it was a blow opportunity to bury auburn, and instead, we gave auburn the spark they needed to get going. So frustrating.

More on Grubb... his move to the field was supposed to help with the communication, including getting the calls in. Last night was about as bad as its been all season... having to burn through timeouts, multiple snaps getting off within 1 second of the play clock expiring. The environment/noise had a bit to do with it but they've got to get that figured out. Go with more tempo at times if need be. I love that they trust Simpson as much as they do, but taking a bit more off his pre-snap plate might not be a bad thing right now either.

Bama was just 4-17 on 3rd downs.

I say it every week. PLEASE do away with the rules analysts. And if "do away with" means make them disappear forever in a desert outside of Vegas, then yes. Do that.

Notes- DeBoer is the first UA head coach to beat auburn in his first 2 seasons since Stallings did it in 1990 & 1991.

Also on DeBoer, he just earned himself a $75,000 bonus for making the SEC Championship game. That doubles if Bama can beat UGA in Atlanta. He will also get $150,000 extra in his stocking if/when Bama makes the 12 team playoff (and more after that assuming they advance).

If my math is right, the 100th Iron Bowl, or Bama v. auburn game, or whatever you choose to call it, will be in 2035. And barring a home/away schedule disruption, it'll be played at their place. Kinda sucks, because that's a good time to commemorate the game/rivalry somehow. Hopefully though, Bama will be winning their 16th straight over them that afternoon/evening regardless.

Roll Tide.
Red Morgan was good, Zabien Brown was spectacular in coverage. - I could not believe how Brown basically neutered Coleman all game.
I kept pointing out Morgan all night. Except for Mincy a few times & Lee forgetting the WR & getting eyes on the running QB, I thought the secondary was really good.

Ty's 3 TD passes were all really well thrown/placed balls. He also used his legs tonight to extend drives, knowing he was going to get pounded a time or two while doing so. Not his best game by any means, but he was out there giving it all he had. Respect for that. - Ty was under a lot of pressure (physically & mentally) last night. I didn't personally see WRs running free many times - may have missed it. It took TREMENDOUS guts (Coach Bryant term) to accomplish what he did last night. The 2nd TD throw to Horton where he had like 37 defenders in his face, throwing off of his back foot, practically going down, was NFL-type shit!

Side note - I would love it if some of the ones who have shit on Lawson all year would acknowledge his game last night. (I was guilty of this with Hightower in 2010)- I learned a lesson. Just because a guy has the guts to get back on the field, it doesn't mean that he's 100%. Maybe give him a little grace & credit for going out there & trying before he was completely back. I thought Lawson the last few games has looked like a bassass!

Everyone’s already covered the G,B & U. Though here’s the very Ugly for me. When is the last time a Bama team has scored in the 20’s seven times in the regular season? When’s the last time they’ve averaged 27 ppg against 10 teams that weren’t cupcakes? By the way, they scored 30 against a really good Vandy team (I’m not sure before now that those last four words in sequence have ever passed my lips). That does mean Bama only scored 30 or less points in eight regular season games … EIGHT! When’s the last time a Bama team has NOT scored 40 or more points (other than against the two or three cupcake teams they faced) in the regular season)? Of the ten Power Five opponents they faced, Bama only scored 30 against Vandy, 37 against Wisconsin and 34 against the Vile’s. OK here’s some ā€œGoodā€ … Bama won ten games this season having not scored 40 or more points. So kudos to the defense! I doubt we will find many times a Bama team accomplished that feat (winning 10 games without scoring 40 or more points against non-cupcake opponents) since the college game became football on grass. And if I’m not mistaken, the defensive minded Saban only had one season at Bama when his teams didn’t score at least 40 against any opponent that wasn’t a cupcake and surprisingly that was the 2009 NC team. Of course his defense that season held six opponents to single digit scores and the most they gave up in a game was 24 … once.

I’ll try to find out the answers to the other questions I asked when I have more time. If anyone has some of the answers please post them. I might be shocked to learn some of the answers as my memory’s not what it used to be. In fact if I was to graph my age and memory they would look like a large X … age going up and memory going down. I was only able to ā€œrecallā€ the 2009 stats because the schedule’s included on a framed 2009 Bama NC Season collage hanging on a wall in my office.

Had to break it up to make it easier to read.

You could see early in the year he was still slow (and maybe tentative some) from the knee injury. He's playing faster now, and it isn't just because he's more comfortable with the system (even though that's some of it too).

I’m on the fence about us getting in with a loss to UGA.

I know they say a conference championship game will not hurt a team, but, you can’t tell me they wouldn’t love to shut bama out for another year.

That committee changes their criteria like the wind changes at the beach.

They've been changing their reasoning, not their criteria... which is what makes them look so dumb. But the TV partners will be pissed if they leave Bama out (unfairly). It isn't just a case of making Bama and Sankey mad.

I think Brown probably just had a top 10 DB performance. Coleman has had his drops this season, but he is about as explosive as a WR in anyone in the country. Brown was dynamite. In fact, the whole defense was.

Credit where credit is due. Wommack has completely turned the D around. There was some real issues early on, but now, I think Alabama is playing with a ton of energy and physicality. I still hate the 3 down lineman rush on 3rd and long.

Some points from multiple posts:

The D has improved a lot but they do not get a complete free pass. Gave up 400+ yds and If they had not allowed the explosive plays this would have been a double digit win even with the offenses struggles. QB scrambling and WR's going into scramble mode was an issue. One explosive was a bad angle/tackling by #12.

I keep being most dissapointed with the offense because that is supposed to be CKD and Grubbs strengths.

Lastly on Bamas chances with a loss to UGA, sorry but a 3 loss team gets whatever they get. If you do not want to be in that position where you are having to debate things off the field then play better and win... This is the bubble conversation I mentioned elsewhere. If they lose then this will be two years in a row that Bama under CKD is part of the bubble conversation which is far from Bama football expectation. Hope they find the spark they need to get better and simply win.

Good - Auburn WR's can't catch. Won turnover battle. Love me some Bray. OL played well, mostly.
Bad - Not kicking the field goal, but I guess it worked out okay.
Ugly - Taking too long to get the calls in, kept the offense off balance. Ty seems to be losing his touch and his accuracy. Hope he gets in back in time for Georgia.

Good- we won, Talty did well, defense played well overall and we ran the ball well at times.

Bad- my attitude watching the game last night, special teams play and Ty pressing too much.

Ugly- I am sick of the inconsistency in the offensive play calling, we do not take what the defense is giving us, not picking up hot routes when everybody knows a blitz is coming and #12 with poor coverage and tackling.

Not even sure they have a hot route. It is mind boggling.... need 4-5 yards and they call a 15-20 yard route with no check down. At least it appears that way at times but hard to tell from the TV camera angles.

Think about this and the kicker. he did two I think both were 40+? But the coach didn't trust him for what may had been 20 yards?
Also here is the 4th down that DeBoer had and made in 2025.

Alabama had 27 fourth-down attempts in 2025, converting
17 of them, resulting in a 62.96% conversion rate through November 25, 2025.

  • Total attempts: 27
  • Total conversions: 17
  • Conversion percentage: 62.96%

But every failed 4 th down is a "turnover ".

Good: "No Brainer" any time in any sport, we beat Lee County Tech it's all good.

Bad: Our punter. Think I could out kick him if I had just one leg.

Ugly: Burning through our timeouts in the 1st and 3rd quarters. No way, no how, should you ever have to burn a timeout at the beginning of a new quarter. What the hell are you doing during that period, getting after game takeout orders? 😬

True, but zone has served us better in the latter part of the season than bringing the house and getting burned as happened early. We just need to find the right mix against UGA, and keep the little QB from running on us.
