🏈 The Good, The Bad and The Ugly vs. AweBarn?

I think Brandon needs to do weekly recap each week for next season. @Brandon Van de Graaff has done incredible job providing summary of the team each week and that helped a lot for fans like us who struggle to understand the basic concept of what football is :)

I appreciate @TerryP sometime when he stays on the subject. Terry, You ever tried this: Fish in white sauce recipe – From bowl to soul %
Put that in the receipt thread, that show good to me anyway.

Good- we got the W and now on to ATL. Defense finally getting their hands on some turnovers after a couple of near misses. Our run game showed up.

Bad- Jam finally starting to look like himself and then hobbling off on crutches. Dear and Young better get up to speed now!! RW!! Tackling and penalties!

Ugly- that cow pasture and those ugly ass colors!!!

Yes Beooks. He also delivered the blow to the guy that fair caught the punt. And had the whiff tackle on the Oklahoma punt returner on that first big punt return they had 2 weeks ago.
Actually, it was on the kickoff. He gave a half ass signal as soon as the ball left Tarly’s foot, but then allowed it to hit the ground and pop up into the air. They must’ve changed that rule somewhere down the line, because kick cover guys were always told that the ball was live when it hits the ground. Listening to the “rules guy” though, he said the fair catch signal protected him.

And the “rules guy” is correct 50% of the time lol!
Matt Austin is wrong more than the weather man!

Man, what’s the word on Ryan Williams? Was really hoping he could become more of a downfield threat for us, but he’s barely seeing the field for long stretches of the game!

Was good to see the running game producing early on. I’d love to see some film…watching the broadcast it seemed like there was more yards to be had at times and the RB’s weren’t able to take advantage for whatever reason.

Ty needs to be more mindful of the clock when making checks at the line - specifically if there’s still a pre-snap motion that needs to take place. His checks are normally effective, but that’s been a problem all year…time to get those ironed out.

We have two issues here.

When I stay on topic? What are you insinuating?

Now, to the meat of the matter.

Yes. And no. I have done that a few times. I don't use milk. I use half and half. I don't use nutmeg. Garam masala.

You are correct on the run game. Made a mental note but I have forgotten when it occurred. Hand off to Miller going left toward our bench. Green grass and blockers in front-3 yard gain. A glaring weakness on this team is lack of an SEC grade RB.

Grubb (or whoever is sending in the play) seemed to be using the full time down to 15 on the clock to get his play in. That's fine if you line up, motion and snap; however, if you have to make the play call, go to the line, flip the receivers, then motion, you're always going to be under five (usually under three) on the clock. Very little room for error last night, and we used timeouts when running late, which is not their best use.

That being said, the crowd noise made everything tough last night and contributed to playcalls and checks.

Are his checks really effective though? How many times on 3rd down do he check and then bomb it down the field instead of getting 3 yards? It was ridiculous.

I think the line repositioning (and they are drastic), is to identify the defense and to get the D to adjust and create openings for the playcall. On one play, we flipped the entire receiving corps, including the tight end, away from the side we ran, and it worked.

Good... a win. 6 in a row ....
What a game..... penalties...sure AU fans gonna be screaming....but....we could scream too...penalties kept drives a moving.. 2 good FGs...
maybe the tight game keeps Durkin there...3 years. New hc forthem

Bad....the decision to go for it on fourth...ok. It worked...chip shot fg...for lead with couple minutes... crazy more than bad...
Our wasting offensive series...no killer instinct
Cant defend a mobile QBworth a crap..

Ugly...all thing orange and blue...the "haunted place". Was rather tame..

Tried not to read any of the others yet besides some early entries right after the game, but I'm sure a lot of this has already been covered since I'm late posting.

Good- A win over auburn. ALWAYS good. Always.

Isaiah Horton stepped up... what a time for his best game. He'll remember that one. Something about WR's named Isaiah that score big TD's in auburn for The Tide.

Jam Miller ran hard... still left some yards on the table, but he ran hard. That was good to see, up until his injury.

As a whole, the OL played well. Tough environment for them to communicate, but they did it well with few penalties. Brailsford played on 1 leg and held up ok. They opened some nice holes in the run game, especially early. Had a lot thrown at them in pass pro, and were not helped by some of the calls or Simpson's decisions at times. Cuevas being out hurt here a bit too, but they managed. The young TE's are having to grow up fast right now.

On defense... James Smith showed up and played hard. Lawson, Jefferson, and Nikahi Hill-Green all played well... Saab was sticking his nose in places trying to make things happen... Hubbard was good as always, dude is just an absolute menace out there... Red Morgan was good, Zabien Brown was spectacular in coverage.

Conor Freaking Talty. Dude goes out there and nails his first FG from 45 yards... then hits the other later from about 30. Good for him.

Bad- As mentioned before, he's playing through some stuff, but Ty Simpson still isn't taking some of the easier passes. He's still trying to force things instead. His touch on his passes is still lost as well. Credit where it's due... Ty's 3 TD passes were all really well thrown/placed balls. He also used his legs tonight to extend drives, knowing he was going to get pounded a time or two while doing so. Not his best game by any means, but he was out there giving it all he had. Respect for that.

A couple of busted plays/bad tackling on defense led to 14 of auburn's points.

Ugly- Up 17-0 and momentum all on Bama's side, Grubb calls his dumb trick play that blows up (predictably), immediately kills a drive with good field position, and completely flips the momentum of the game. Grubb (and this staff as a whole) do not handle prosperity very well... They are seemingly determined to take the most difficult path possible. I don't get too mad or too excited during games... that legit made me mad. Mostly because I knew it was a blow opportunity to bury auburn, and instead, we gave auburn the spark they needed to get going. So frustrating.

More on Grubb... his move to the field was supposed to help with the communication, including getting the calls in. Last night was about as bad as its been all season... having to burn through timeouts, multiple snaps getting off within 1 second of the play clock expiring. The environment/noise had a bit to do with it but they've got to get that figured out. Go with more tempo at times if need be. I love that they trust Simpson as much as they do, but taking a bit more off his pre-snap plate might not be a bad thing right now either.

Bama was just 4-17 on 3rd downs.

I say it every week. PLEASE do away with the rules analysts. And if "do away with" means make them disappear forever in a desert outside of Vegas, then yes. Do that.

Notes- DeBoer is the first UA head coach to beat auburn in his first 2 seasons since Stallings did it in 1990 & 1991.

Also on DeBoer, he just earned himself a $75,000 bonus for making the SEC Championship game. That doubles if Bama can beat UGA in Atlanta. He will also get $150,000 extra in his stocking if/when Bama makes the 12 team playoff (and more after that assuming they advance).

If my math is right, the 100th Iron Bowl, or Bama v. auburn game, or whatever you choose to call it, will be in 2035. And barring a home/away schedule disruption, it'll be played at their place. Kinda sucks, because that's a good time to commemorate the game/rivalry somehow. Hopefully though, Bama will be winning their 16th straight over them that afternoon/evening regardless.

Roll Tide.

I still think. Win or lose vs uga. Bama will be in. To many good wins. And 2 of 3 losses would be to cfp teams... will depend on how some conference ccgames turn out.
But...scratching game 1..... bama has had a heck of a season
