| NEWS Jay Barker Arrested

Jay not living the dream, he and Sarah separated. She was obviously with someone else at a party near his/their residence. Tough situation to be in…kind of in your face but he’ll take the hit for this.

Barker, 49, was charged with one count of felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Court records indicate he was to be held for 12 hours because the charge related to “domestic violence.”
....
As they pulled into the driveway of a nearby home, Barker allegedly reversed his vehicle “at a high rate of speed attempting to hit them, but missed,”
....
"The passengers of the vehicle and an unidentified number of unnamed witnesses told police Barker “intentionally” tried to strike them."

He "missed" them - says the unnamed accusers.

TN law (written by lawyers turned politician) for the crime of aggravated assault says you don't have to actually "assault" someone - your accuser just has to say that you "tried" to assault them.

Did he have a gun? No.
Did he hit you? No.
Did he physically harm you or touch you in any way? No. But he was in a car and that's a deadly weapon.
So, he hit you with a car? No. But, I'm pretty sure he meant to. I was afraid.
Okay, let's arrest him for aggravated assault.

Prediction:

Charges will eventually be reduced because he'll agree to pay off the accusers and the Courthouse Cartel (judges, lawyers, bail bondsmen, corrupt politicians) will also get their share of the profits.

And so it goes.

EDIT

OK, so I really don't know who is Sara Evans other than she is apparently a musician married to Jay Barker.
And it wasn't clear from first story posted that she was one of the accusers - just said "unnamed" accusers.

I still think a felony is kind of a ridiculous charge given that nobody was actually injured or even touched.

Sounds likely.

Yeah, Evans probably has more money than Barker. Hate it for all of them.

It’s a felony as it should be. If you pull a gun on somebody and point it at them you’ll be charged with felony, regardless of what you do after that (outside of self defense). You only have to show intent

She either has really bad luck picking men, or she is just one for drama. Her first husband got addicted to porn and it led to their divorce. Now this. I have no clue who to feel sorry for until more details come out. That being said, you should never pull a gun on someone unless you plan to use it.

No gun. Story says he tried to hit them with car. Don’t know if they were also in a vehicle, or pedestrians. Story that I saw wasn’t clear…

Was talking to our local DA the other night and told him kind of in jest… On of the few times in life when you are awarded for failure? When you shoot and Miss or maim versus kill. Attempted murder comes with less time than murder. You try to kill and fail, you get a lighter sentience. Intent was the same…

Like the pictures of the gal he was "diddling" that were posted for the world to see? Is that "in your face" as well?
