@50+yeartidefan a suggestion on the consider the source routine.
Matt mentions Walsh who is a guy that's been in Tuscaloosa since 2004 as I recall. He's been through several outlets including the newspaper, recruiting sites, and he's written book(s) about his time there; Saban specific in a lot of situations. He's a fairly good read.
Walsh also runs the Bama Central site which is SI's arm into Alabama athletics. He has people who work with/for him to supply that content. The majority of it comes from Chris himself. In this case not only is Chris commenting on the guys returning but Cary Clark is as well. He's the one who wrote the article in the first place.
Cary has been covering Alabama going back to the days of
Bama Magazine. I'm talking about the print edition there though he did continue to/through Bamamag.com which was the Internet version of the site.
Ironically, another of the three at the front of this story is the owner/editor of
Bama Magazine, Kirk McNair. He's continued with that through Scout's acquisition by the 247 group of companies (CBS and the like.)
That's one that that really shocked me. I'd bet you've got some of Kirk's stuff around your house and you're calling him fake news.
By the way, if you didn't know it already, McNair was in the SID back under Bryant. He's been around a while.
Everyone else has followed their lead up until now.
As it stands today, there are four I'd consider gone and there's still no reason to doubt what's been reported.
