🏈 Rare expression of confidence from yours truly

Damn ya'll hell.

May be, maybe not. A lot of good things can be said of the old school way. CPBB, CGS and CNS players did their talking with their play and how they handled themselves off the field as well. With a very few exceptions.
People gonna be shittin' bricks when Keelon says "Davey O'Brien" is a goal.

There is nothing wrong with individual players setting goals for themselves. But their ultimate goal should be to develop into the best player they can be at any position. Then after the season is over, the chips will fall where they may.

In any endeavor in life, it cannot be talked into fruition. Action speaks louder than any words.

Exactly what we saw out of Proctor.

I'd say few, if any, disagree.

@TerryP, I'm not trying to argue with you, but, with 14 NC's, not to mention their SEC conference titles, between the 3 coaches I listed in above post, had to be doing a lot of things right. All 3 seemed to be pretty old school to me. I would also bet my hat that these 3 coaches had the respect and admiration of the vast majority of their players. Although I know that Bear ran some of his players off at A+M.

I do not doubt that there are and have been many old school coaches whose methods did not translate to success and championships.

No arguments here.

A few here probably remember. I bitched incessantly when I started seeing NFL swagger hit the high school ranks: a decade and a half ago, or more. It hit HS before college but my point was "give it time." It's coming. (You want to take a detour? Let's bring video games and their influence on the sport(s) into the conversations. 10 year old kids playing Ryan talking shit to the Auburn crowd.)

We live in a smack talk generation with few that remain quiet. This generation also takes the mildest of comments and frames them to incite.

I know where I sit. You be you as long as you don't affect me. Kids talking bullshit doesn't, ya know? That disappointment has died and been buried.

@TerryP, I am happy to hear that you were able to get over the smack and shit talk and it does not bother you any longer. I do agree that video games has had an affect on our country's youth and young men and women, with effects that we have not seen the end of. Where will this progress to? It's anyone's guess. It worries me. I am glad that I wont be around much longer to be witness.

By the way, these attitudes of talking shit, saying anything and doing anything they feel like, without consequence, has been going on much longer than 15 years, at least in my corner of the world. I left my job in 2011. Around 2005, my boss hired a guy around 30 years old. He had lost his Dad at a young age. So he did not have much guidance growing up. He had played video games probably most of his life and probably still does. He believed he was God's gift to society. He would lie and do most anything to get out of work. He rubbed me raw. Before him, boss hired an even younger guy, maybe 22 years old. He thought he knew everything, although he was greener than my avatar. One day, in the back of our shop, there were some vines growing up the back of one of our buildings which a bird had made a nest in them and had 2 or 3 hatchlings in it.
He tore the nest out and stomped the baby birds. Heartless bastard I called him and let him know he came very close to Feeling my wrath.

So, this has been going on a lot longer than 15 years. I would say at least 30 maybe 40 years or more. Every generation, grows up believing they are so much smarter and can get away with more and the world owes them for being the person they are . WTH?

I was born in 56. It was ingrained into my brain and made part of my DNA by my Mom and Dad, to be honest, remain humble, to treat people with respect and kindness. We Boomers are dying off quick.

Yeah, the game of football and the men who play it have changed so much in my lifetime, it's just not much fun anymore to watch. Especially NFL. I still watch it sparingly. I don't recall the last Bama game I missed, if ever. Either TV or radio. I was close to missing one last year when I was in Hot Springs, Ark. Intermittent hotel internet made the stop and go flow was frustrating to watch.

I have not given up on Bama or our players yet, and not likely to.
