🏈 This year's JR class may not be finished yet- Devonta Smith returning?

SI writer for Bama saying ...........

Well....its like this.....anything that comes from a SI mag or writer.....garbage
How would some f'ing writer know...unless he is living next to Nick....
And as for SI...garbage mag... use to be great....no more....
recently....:
grap article on Dabo...because of faith...
Grap article on Atlanta Braves...because of their "racist " move to the suburbs
....etc...
Could go on....last 2 mags...straight to garbage....nuthin worth even reading

Yeah sorry to confuse anyone, I was talking about wr prospects for next year's draft. I do think Ross probably is clear #1 but Smitty and waddle are both right there . Chase is very good , but the lsu system has helped him more than anything. I do believe Smitty returns and SI still actually has some good people working there...one being John Garcia who is about to be the head recruiting editor there.

Without knowing who the writer is you've come to this conclusion?

Without knowing who the writer is you've come to this conclusion?

As i said. Based on source...SI..sports illustrated...who writer was associated with.
. Was my opinion based on contents of mag lately.
All I needed to know
And really. How does he know without knowing coaches. Players. If he references a source. Ie. " I talked to nick saban and this was what he thought " if thats what he said then OK but???????
Fake news ( as the mags other associated mag...Time)....
Been a long time reader and subscriber. Long time!!!!! Time been gone. SI will be soon

The good journalists know everything. It's their job. We could debate that many of today's writers are rinsing and repeating the same garbage, but there are still many journalist who know how to chase a story.

On the same topic, in my 20+ years of experience with vendors (salespeople), they know more about the workings of a company than most employees. They have the inside scoop on most everything. They know about leadership changes before many of the internal leaders. The same reason, it's their job.

This is my experience also. We used to be broken into 2 divisions at the company I work for so when a particular chip vendor would come see us I would get more news on how the company was doing and what was brewing than anything I could come up with. The really good ones have developed relationships and just have lots of connections.

As you pointed out the same would apply with real journalists that are good.

They don't really know more... they surmise more... when they are right they "crow about it" when yhey arent " just shrug their shoulders"
" chase" a story ... Putting facts from credible sources together that lead one to surmise a conclusion.
But its chasing... not always factual
" Rinsing and repeating " non credible
As long as we readers or"employees from ur example " know the difference. Its ok

That's just it. That's not all you need to, or should, know here. You're basing an opinion on people and their reporting without even knowing who they are: just the outlet.

I'm all for considering the source. Here, you are not.

What really strikes me as wild is one of the guys you're criticizing here has been around the Alabama program since you were a teenager--a guy employed by Coach Bryant (I think it was Thornton that actually hired him)--all the while labeling his reports "fake news?" Asking if he knows the coaching staff? Or the players? Hell, another has been on the beat in Tuscaloosa since 2004 I believe. Another, long than that.

The attack on academia, science, and facts is the most troubling development of my lifetime. The notion that there are people out there with: 1. The power to control a narrative that contradicts the facts 2. The desire to do so 3. A large portion of the masses actually believing the obviously manufactured narrative "fake news."

For example Ambassador Taylor is and always has been a patriot of the U.S.A., but somehow half the country believes otherwise.

educate yourselves

I apologize if inappropriate, please delete at your discretion. I understand we live in an age of zero tolerance of opposing "opinions?" I guess... if calling Ambassador Taylor a patriot is now no longer fact but an "opinion."

I will say from 20+ years of experience in the media and dealing with writers they are rarely in the know now days. Most of them are lazy hacks that have a bias, an agenda and do little to no research or fact checking. Instead, they use words to protect themselves from slander suits by hiding behind anonymous source said, or I believe this to be true..... There are too many to list but true journalism is dead for the most part. It's now all opinion pieces in every magazine, newspaper or website. It used to be when you picked up the paper there were 15 to 20 news stories and 1 opinion piece per section maybe... now it's all opinion and all have an agenda.

Just saying, read it if you want and you can enjoy their opinion but I promise very few have any access now a days because few have been proven to be reliable with access. Cecil Hurt is one of the few guys with any access at Bama and probably has much more info that he knows than what he shares.

Agreed. His access is reliant upon a few things.... He's trusted, that's for sure.

I think we're saying the same thing. There are some good ones out there.

I got the feeling that 50 is allowing his hatred for Time Magazine - because IDK honestly - make him look down at SI, too. Unless SI has done a bunch of underhanded or just bad reported that I have never seen, I dont get it.

FWIW, Mac Jones is staying, too.

After seeing the AP snub all of our juniors for 1st team All America honors, I'd like to see them all come back pissed at the world!!! I know it won't happen, but a person can dream.
How Devonta and Waddle weren't first team is unbelievable!!! Instead, AP goes with Chase and Lamb as WRs for the 1st team and some freshman from K State as their return guy. BAMA FATIGUE is real my friends!!!
