šŸˆ The Good, The Bad and The Ugly vs Vandy

Good: Bama won. Vandy got their first loss and Pavia got humbled. 🤣 The Tide got 18 yards on 4th and 8 (Simpson to Cuevas). The Pavia turnover. Bama came from behind. Talty made 3 of four field goals. The Tide had several impressive runs. Williams & Bernard had good games. Ty was solid again. Proctor's first pure run.

Bad: I missed over half the game due to a social engagement

Ugly: Ty's turnover. Vandy running up the gut for a 65 yard TD. The defense once again looked LOST on numerous plays.

Good - Great team win. Ty was great and will give us a chance to win every week if Grubb doesn't take the ball out of his hands.

Germie was good again and Mr. Reliable.

Jamarion Miller and Kevin Riley both ran the ball well and opened up the pass.

Offensive line blocked well again and we are seeing even more progress.

Defense gave up 14 points. Wasn't beautiful again, but they gave up 14 points and we won. The last number of years we were begging to only give up 21 and 14 points a game.

Bad - our bend but don't break defense that I feel is eventually gonna fail us. Vanderbilt never concerned me as far as their deep ball passing game. The buffers we gave them was extremely frustrating. Our defensive backs are good ball players, but giving a nine yard buffer sets our entire team up for failure as Pavia ate us up early on the quick passes. He hit us up all game long it felt, he just couldn't string together enough to sustain drives. Pretty similar to us against Georgia in the second half. We have to fill holes and our linebackers have to scrape better moving forward.

Ugly - we just don't look fast up front. Florida State beat us because we couldn't match their speed. Special teams made up for an early miss, but the unpredictability of it all is concerning. Punter hit a couple of shorter ones that gave them good position to score in the first half.

Good 2.0 - Amazing win. First half was extremely frustrating, but we battled hard to tie it up and not go down with them getting the opening kickoff of the second half. Hoping we can fix our defensive holes and be more downhill with our run support. The meeting Germie spoke about on Gameday shows me these leaders are taking it serious now and the rest of the team is following. Excited to exact some revenge on Oklahoma and play Tennessee and LSU tough. I know Ty frustrates a lot of folks by holding the ball, myself included, but when you look at what he is able to do in the last split second at times, he's showing he's having positive results over bad ones, so I want him to progress past it, but also don't want to take that part of his game away for what it could potentially cost us.

Full disclosure, I was at an event and did not watch the game so this is purely based on what I have seen from video clips and reports

Good: A win and the O running game. Give kudos to the D as I understand after 1st qtr they held Vandies run to 22 yard. Oh and keeping them to 14 points and scorelss in the 2nd half.

Bad: I was unable to watch the game.

Ugly: sounded like 1 qtr run D and pass blocking. Basic slow start and could have been down 14-0 if not for the turnover.

I am sure there will be more once I get a chance to watch it.

Give us the good, bad, and ugly of the event you went to. haha

You may agree after you watch, but I didn't think the pass protection was that bad. Vandy is pretty stout up front and the only sack that was the fault of the OL was when Formby was playing guard and just got beat. The others were a case of Simpson trying a bit too hard to make a play and asking way too much of the OL in terms of time.

Ty basically said this response word for word after the game!

Yeah I just based it on hearing Simpson interview that said there were 4 sacks. He did say that was on him..

The event I went to was actually something I have done for a long time. Related to my music passion so not really a bad thing. Bad to miss a game but I enjoy my other passion as much as Bama football.

It's like @BamaFan334 alluded to above... there's a fine line with trying to reel him in and also letting him make plays. His feel in the pocket overall is really good. And we've seen he can absolutely shake free and find the open man for a big gainer... so he doesn't need to fire it 5 rows deep every time he feels the pressure. He's just got to learn when to do it and when to press on... a lot will depend on game situation. Today, he was on a bit of a heater there and looked to the sideline, pounded his chest, and said something that seemed to indicate he wanted to keep ripping it downfield. I think he was feelin' it and in the zone and just tried to do a little too much, but he was probably feeling like Superman at the time.

His game though is the very least of my concerns right now, really no concern at all. He's been a stud. And he'll learn quick, just like he did from his FSU outing, and be better from it.

Ain't nothing wrong with that bud...

BTW, Tom Hart dropped a "mandolin" reference into the play by play of the A&M/MSU game tonight. Apparently, the A&M OC plays one, along with the piano. Cubelic chimed in from the sidelines that he thought it was a Star Wars character. šŸ˜†

AI overview:

Yes, Collin Klein plays the mandolin, along with the piano and violin. He is an accomplished musician, and this interest in music was a part of his life even as he pursued his successful football career at Kansas State and his current role as a football coach.

In the early window of games I kept hearing a neighbor and her friends laughing. I stuck my head out to see what was going on around half time. Ends up they had two bushels of oysters (nice size single selects.) I literally ate oysters all afternoon while watching the TX vs FL game. And, don't regret a minute even though I missed Bama's game.

Five females...and I swear I saw them go through almost two cases of Twisted Tea.

So, good? That's been explained. Beautiful ladies, good food.
The bad? Yeah, ate too many yesterday.
The ugly? I saw how much hot sauce some of those ladies were using...and I don't think their morning is going to be pleasant.

It's a quarter after 5 and I can hear her outside cleaning up...undoubtedly to take the shells to the recycling drop off.

...and I just heard a can open. Someone might be a little hungover over there.

Good - Took one of my sons to the game, good to spend a day with him. He had never been to a game that hosted Gameday, so we hit that early, then off to an organized tailgate one of my relatives is heavily involved in, then on to the game. Also, traffic. Getting to the game early, no meaningful traffic and I snagged a free parking spot decently close. That cash didn't stay with me long, though, paying a cover on the strip.

Bad - This defense is the Rodney Dangerfield of moving goalposts. No respect, I tell ya. They held a high scoring team to 14, and has shut out two ranked teams in the second halves of the last two games. The long runs upset me, too, generating the same Pavia-lovian response from Bama fans, but you have to give the D some credit. The sack of Pavia on the last drive, with two guys hounding him and not allowing him a breath to throw it away, was key. Halftime/2H Adjustments took away the run and forced them to be one-dimensional. If not for the phantom hold, the D would've stopped that last drive sooner.

Ugly - Watching the irrelevant glom onto today's shiny objects. That Manziel had to join the posse of a Vandy QB to get his photo taken again is delicious.

Bonus - I hope we just started a twelve game streak of hundred yard rushers.

I meant to add this to my Ugly ad well, tge media forced visuals and precense to build this game and Pavia's character up. I get what Rece stated and what they said on Gameday about Von's precense, but Manziel being there on the sideline pulled it all together for me. They manufactured and environment trying to create a bigger storyline and to prepare breaking news if Vanderbilt won. Pretty tacky by everyone involved.
