šŸˆ The Good, The Bad and The Ugly vs. South Carolina

Bad Part 2 - the fans upset with the Proctor play. The defensive lineman got lucky and submarined to just do what he could and got lucky. Not some elaborate scheme to stop just Proctor. It's absolutely fine we ran the play, because until then Proctor has not been stopped for no gain. Have issue running the ball three straight plays when we can't run blocking

If they has been at the 1 yard line, I;d have been fine with it. But from the 4, when I saw him lined up I knew it was going nowhere unless he was used as a decoy for a pass. At the very least, let him run the wildcat (again) to speed it up, bring in an extra blocker on the line and give him better vision of the blocking (like they did at Mizzou). But with the way Carolina was crashing the middle in the game and the fact that Proctor doesn't have a ton of agility, made me feel it was a wasted call. But, I think it was only 2nd down if I recall, so it wasn't egregiously bad.

All that said, I think if he cuts it wide to the right he probably scores, but I also don't expect him to have that level of vision or feel. And I'm on the record here, I love the Procor Package... I'm not against it in any way, shape, or form. He's going to throw a TD pass (or 2 point conversion) out of it at some point, IMO.

Pretty sure we have 4 games left....
He was not counting
That is why it should not just be left up to officials on the field... That one should be flagged from the booth...they should have an off the field crew or one guy to flag this call... this mistake was missed by the field crew... Could've drastically changed the outcome of the game, if called correctly (even though we won it.)... they have the technology to end these controversies...
Can't review the push in the back.

In all sincerity I appreciate the response and am glad to hear it. It is difficult to (for me anyway) to tell sometimes with how you respond to games.

On a side note, Paul Crane was my HS coach. Good man.
Thanks for your response. You can probably tell I’m old school and from a different generation than today.🤣 Of course, many of my comments are a reflection of that. I sure did enjoy watching Paul Crane. Anyway we are on the same team. RTR.

I'm not gonna lie..... We have balance of optimism and naysayers on the board but most of us usually find the balance in between for the most part. So kudo to you.

It's a different world fellas.
I read an article last week, and can't find it now, where they said basically the same thing you said in your post about the parity among the top twenty. It noted that 10 years ago there was a difference of 2 sometimes 3 TD's between the #1 team and the #20 team where today it's about a TD.

Closer games, which means little things like penalties and turnovers are amplified. And what do we often see in most every close game these days? Some degree of discontent and frustration over a controversial call or two by the officials. Teams are going to have to be good enough and play clean enough, that the game isn't left in the official's hands. By that I mean, it's hard to sit there and bitch about a game changing missed pass interference call in the 4th quarter when your team also committed 10+ other penalties and turned the ball over 4 times in the game.

Championship level teams don't let penalties/officials beat them twice, thrice, etc. It's hard to do but the next play is the only play that matters. I appreciated how CNS wouldn't go on about penalties/officials during the games & the only time I ever remember him saying anything after the game on penalties was how his team made too many penalties (if that applied).

That mindset absolutely affects the demeanor of the sideline. These are kids & they will mimic their coaches.

AU folded like a cheap suit after that no call TD vs Jawja. Just a simple example of how kids get redirected.

LOL, and their goofball AD Cohen running and screaming at the ref on the way to the tunnel at the half. Like a bunch of soccer mom Karen's.

I remember the P Manning years when UF traveled to Knoxville & that was going to be the game the VOLS beat them. Nope. And there was a documentary about a bad call after that game & how these VOL fans screaming in hillbilly dialiect "That's a travesty of justice! A real travesty of Justice!". . . . I was like damn, I didn't know that dialect could annunciate such words.

Hey Genius, it's enunciate not annunciate. 🤣

From there if Ty had faked the handoff and ran a naked bootleg I would've liked that call a lot better.

True! I didn’t like Proctor on a dive play from the 3-4 yard line. Inside the one? Sure!! A bootleg after faking the dive to Proctor would’ve sucked everyone in and Ty walks in.
It’s coming. Every time Procter has been in the backfield he’s got the ball. It’s only a matter of time before they fake a dive and bootleg or throw a jump pass to a tight end.
