🏈 The Good, The Bad and The Ugly vs. South Carolina

Isn't this true? When the OL doesn't block well and gets beat often, Ty struggles and the run game does also. How many times did #93
make plays in our backfield? Too many. A good OL takes to the Dl and vice versa. Ours on both sides seem to get beat regularly against good or equally talented players.

But credit where credit is due. We would not be 7 and 1 if we didn't out play our opponents most of the time.
I think we got a little lucky today with that pick 6. Without it, we may have very well have lost.

Ugly - The commentators not recognizing that the USC DB allowed Bernard to score. The guy got close to him on the sideline, then pulled his hands back to this shoulders and then signaled TD when Bernard scored. The announcers never seemed to catch that.
They also had no idea about the fumble. Of course Joey had an excuse- he was trying to sell a bedroom suite or host a cooking show.

I just posted that in the game thread. But look at the two doing the game! I may get blast at what I'm about to say! But I would rather have Gray, Vern, the guy that replace Vern.

Yep. And that is the sort of thing that gets memory holed by fans. I said when Saban retired that we were going to see a lot of revisionist history as it related to his tenure at UA. As great as it was, the best run ever, IMO... a run that will never be duplicated or equaled, there were still losses. There were still games Bama should have won and lost. There were still games Bama should have won easily, but ended up in a dog fight. There were just 2 undefeated seasons out of 17 total. Some things are easy to forget as time marches on. That's normal. But I think sometimes, fans conveniently bury them on purpose so they can move the goalposts.

Saban after a 1 point win against 3-3 Arkansas. So…..every game WASN’T perfect????

Good - not all of the pieces fit or perform just right but this team is light years ahead of where they were after FSU.

Bad - running the Proctor gimmick play from any distance over a yard away is just a wasted play.

Ugly - SC not getting a personal foul penalty when Williams was body slammed to the ground late in the game. We did get penalized earlier in the game for the same thing.

Ty had an off day, our receivers dropped several they should have caught, our OL is a work in progress and the defense played the best they know how. They did exactly what they had to do, what Coach Bryant told his team in a famous video, "I need 11 men to go out there and just do their job, whatever it is. Defense, you'll have to get the ball back....." This team did that late in the 4th quarter. If we have good injury luck the rest of the season, we can be Champions. Roll Tide!

I think these are the type games where you actually improve the most - and the best part is we actually won.

What we saw out there yesterday was a team that has been “up” emotionally for four straight games, coming off maybe the most emotional week of that stretch. Coming into a game that wasn’t as easy to get up for maybe because of the opponent. And to top it all off, we have a BYE coming behind it.

Wasn’t our cleanest game by any stretch, but SC isn’t a bad team. That DL is damn good. Same with the QB.

We’re Alabama, we’re everyone’s “rivalry game”.

Last year when we saw adversity during a game, it was deer in the headlights….glad to see us fighting through adversity.

Survive and advance.

I would kill to get CBS back! At least Gary basically knew his shit, Waaaayyyy better camera work & production, & Verne was a genuine fan of the game - Tess tries to MAKE EVERYTHING dramatic.
I think it was mentioned last year the difference between CBS and ESPN in terms of cameras and production team in the truck. Can't remember the numbers, but it was a big difference.

This was probably mentioned, but Blake Doud deserves a huge amount of credit for this game. Only one of his 16 punts coming into this game was over 50 yards. All five of his punts were over 50 yesterday, including a 60-yarder, with an average of 55 yards. With us unable to move the ball much of the game, he kept giving SC a longer field. I know one was shorter and got a nice roll, but he was on it yesterday.

I've been complaining about his punting this year, nice that he put it together when we really needed it.

Good: Bama won
Bad: KW is still defensive coordinator.
Ugly: O Line got their azz handed to them 99.9% of the day. Ty poor throws. Receivers dropping balls. D line got their azz handed to them 99.9% of the day. Still don’t know how to tackle.
Give credit to South Carolina for playing a well orchestrated game plan. They are a lot better than their record shows.

Give credit to Bama because they found a way to win!

Good- This was CKD's first come from behind win away game! And I tip my hat to him for his demeanor after the game. He knew they snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.

- Hill is coming along nicely. He totally whiffed on his block that lead to Simpson's fumble but other than that, he is SOLID.

- Very Nice to see Jaedon Roberts back to his old ways. I was concerned. But I think he grades out better than Brailsford. This game shows the PRO's & CON's of switching out OL all season. Pro, guys had a lot of reps. Con's, they're not used to each others tendancies. Strong debate about which meant more in this game.

- That last drive that lead up to the 2 point conversion was CLUTCH. Maybe I read too much into it but the team played like it was a forgone conclusion. Well Done!

-The 2 point conversion play was a damn thing of beauty. There are 15 dozen way's they could score on that play. Genius play design.s

-This TEAM did not wilt! Lawson's strip fumble was the difference in the game.

-The TEAM Captiains held serve. That got bitch slapped a few times but they still stayed in the fight & made plays. Seeing Team Captians lead like Captains is VERY nice to see.

- For the second year in a row, there a VERY CLEAR signs of this defense improving by the 8th game. They are not there yet but they are making pivotal stops. SC could have been up by 2 TD's if the Defense didn't make those initial stops while the Offense was sputtering.

Bad- Drive stopping drops. You could see the disgust from CKD.

-As mentioned before, Grubb's play calling was a bit sketchy. However, I will add..... How many times did Simpson audible out of a called play? I think Simpson audibled into the teeth of the defense with a run play. And frankly, I think the SC D Coordinator picked up on disguses to bait Simpson into more runs.

UGALY- The OL was really on their heals for most of the game. The SC DL is the strenght of this team & they pushed those guys around.

-NO DOUBT about, at SC playing Bama, that is a hard place to play. I think the FSU game really paid off in preparation for this game.

-Please Lord let there be some good Meme's about the SC student section being left to dry out on the sideline after the premature rushing the field.
