🏈 The Good, The Bad and The Ugly vs. Rocky Top

But he's still averaging 275 yards a game and that is counting Arkansas where he played 1.5 quarters, as well as other blowouts where he didn't play a whole game.
Seriously, why are these last two years so different than any other of Saban's? NIL is the absolute only difference.

This statement was why I responded. We had an incredible receiving corps in 2020, not so much the last two years, due to graduations and injuries. That's been the difference this year, drops and not getting separation. Absence of dominant receivers, lack of explosive passing plays, both palpable and not an assumption that NIL has tainted the resolve of some of the team.

But we had two amazing receivers last year. Didn't Jameson go over 1,500 yards and a first round pick? Metchie had over 1,100 and was a 2nd round pick I believe last year. That is not much of a drop off from 2020. This year, yes, it hasn't been good. Once again, what is the issue?

Agreed, but neither one was there at the end last year, and we faltered. I think we all saw how that affected our play in the NC game. NIL didn't creep in between the SECCG and the playoff, it was the loss of key players and the dropoff to their replacements.

I can't argue that drop off, but what's to say NIL isn't the reason it caused them to not prepare properly. Agiye Hall was mad for lack of playing time and his ability to get deals after a breakout A-Day. That led to his unhappiness, not being focused, and ultimate transfer. Holden, Brooks, and others were all four and five star guys, so no drop off in ability. We won the SEC Championship by like three touchdowns because we blocked. Bryce ran for his life and garbage play calling in the Natty, not all on the receivers and said drop off. I do not agree that the talent has dropped off so far at Alabama that we seemingly got all the recruits everyone else wanted, yet we somehow got all the ones that by percentage wouldn't pan out. Never been our MO. We're also talking a lot of young guys. We've been spoiled recently with D-1 ready starters and you just don't see that often, so I'm not as upset with Brooks and others last year, especially after he saved us against Auburn.

Even with all that said, Bryce still threw for 370 against "the best defense ever" in the Natty. So where exactly is the drop off you're speaking to? A timely drop is not falling off a cliff, and young receivers as well as veteren ones drop passes. We going to say Gubbs has fallen off due to his drop against Tennessee that ices it?

3 7 11 are all average. Not a dog in the entire bunch. 3 runs his mouth 24/7, 11 is lazy as hell and is a penalty machine, and 7 is an individualist. He can't wait to flex is if makes a catch. Our future is in the young dudes. 81 is average at best but he gives a better effort that 19 from last year. Why Nick ran out 19 every game last year is beyond me. That guy was just F lazy. Oh, if you're waiting on 81 to block anybody on one of those pathetic WR bubble screens then pack a lunch. BoB needs to remove that play from the charts since we run for a loss or no gain each time it's called.

I agree with 3 and 11 at this point. Loved 11, but he's just not flashing at all. I still think 7 has a lot of ability and skill that benefit our team. 81 has killed me with his blocking at times, you are 100% correct. I think he has come leaps and bounds though from where he started as a defensive end with not much hope to a starting tight end for two years and a reliable target for Bryce. 17 is the guy we need more of. He can take the top off and catches the ball. Zero reason he should not be in there and targeted more at this point. I liken it to our travel ball team last year, "hell, if our starting infield can make six errors in a game and we get our butts kicked, why not bring the outfielders in to see how they do, what's the worst that can happen, we still lose 10-0". 80 is getting it done, so I like what he's giving the team. Would love to see if Aaron Anderson can do what he did to climb the rankings at the college level.

Latu played well vs Tennessee - great weapon in the passing game. Made a couple of great contested catches. Showed up big time. He didn't get a couple blocks on quick RPO throws, but Tennessee had the numbers on those anyway to stop the play. Latu did have a great perimeter block later in the 3rd on a quick RPO screen and got Brooks a good gain. Latu was a difference maker this game.

Brooks is good. Bond and Prentice need more targets. Those are the top 3 WRs. Burton is unreliable, as is Holden.

I'd like to see Law get some opportunities, and Anderson and Harrell if they are healthy.

Or Leary. Or Henderson - he stands out when he's on the field with how fast he is.

I want Law to have success just because of the blocking effort he gives. I notice it every time he’s on the field.

How is anyone disappointed with Brooks at this point?! Am I crazy to think he's been the best WR, especially in big moments?

Experience... Seasoning... The youngsters are coming along. Hopefully more quickly! Sooner the better

He had the bad drop(s) one game, otherwise he's been very good. He's the best big WR for sure.

He and Prentice and Bond are the best 3. Holden and Burton can play less.

Let it sort out between young guys like Law, Leary, Harrell, Henderson, and Aaron Anderson as to who else should be in the rotation.

Contrary to popular opinion, there is plenty of speed in that group.

What happened to Leary?, he played last year and I haven't seen much at all this year.

The most undisciplined display of crap I've seen in a long time. And this year, thats sayng something. That's on the coaches. Say what you want. but this was
This is somewhat of an embarassing season! We look like we're content with where we have been, instead of keeping our eyes on the prize.
