🏈 The Good, The Bad and The Ugly vs. Oklahoma

Only good is that Wommack actually had an excellent game plan and the defense played out of their minds. I'm usually very critical of Wommack but they've been playing great ball lately. Just how lucky are we that DeBoer and Grubb's "great offense" looks lethargic as ever and it beginning to turn the ball over. Shit play calls and designs. 4th and short with the game on the line, and the receiver barely runs to the first down marker. Also, on again, Alabama does nothing to move the pocket or has any play designs to throw off the defense. We rarely use presnap movement.

I was dissappointed in the low average play call. Why on Earth would you run a play where a defender has time to get in between you and the ball? Not even taking into consideration their dumb fucking asses didn't run a play to get a first down. Why not a quick pop pass or seam to Cuevas? Use Bernard, Williams, and Horton to clear it out and run a route Ty can hit in the chest, not needing a peefect rythm throw. It was a middle school level play call.

It’s a little sad that Hill has 2 carries that went over 7 yards (13 yards and 28), and we get excited. He had 19 yards on his other 13 carries. But something is better than nothing these days in the run game.

True, but he added some physicality on those lesser runs and fell forward, instead of getting hit for no gain.

Absolutely. I am 100% on board with him and proud of what he did with his opportunities tonight. Oklahoma did not want to see him.

At this point I want to see him and Riley only. I can no longer handle Miller's dancing feet at the line of scrimmage every play and the dancing in the hole. I wanna see guys be shifty, but hit the hole hard and fall forward, not get stacked up.

We're 48th in the country. Not trying to be a dick, but if our coverages are based around thay I'd want to see better than that. As a fan, I absolutely want to see more turnovers.

I will say, we had two major opportunities tonight by backers and they missed. Our secondary hasn't had many chances at all that I recall. Dijon in the endzone against LSU is really the only one I recall being close.

Last year OU was missing all their WRs and still lit us up. Tonight they were missing their O-linemen and top defender. We dodge bullets they aren’t at full strength!

81, I hope you’re still on that high man! That must have been some good stuff. Puff puff give in that stuff!

The Defense played very well

The Missed FG turned out to be the difference in the game. #44 touched the ball as well after jumping the center. Bama just doesn't have the discipline needed on special teams. Why the F do we try to return kickoffs when the 25 is given to you.

Ty has regressed these last 3 weeks. He makes a play or two then gives one back. JMO but I think he is what you see right now. This is his norm.

Why does 56 play at all on this OL

Bama doesn't have a good RB on the roster. Not one. 4 and 26 are so average with 4 being the better guy. Neither 4 nor 26 block well.

JMO but #2 needs to hit the road at the end of this season. Take his million and go buy two RB's. The guy plays like he is a sophomore at Saraland.

Kalen is a 7-5,9-3 coach but many teams will be digging for that record in the coming years.

Losing that game today was a shame since Bama is the better team but lack discipline in so many areas and that is coaching. Things never get corrected week to week.

Emphasis on big play. Coming into tonight, Bama was top in the SEC in giving up the fewest 10+ yard pass plays, 20+ yard pass plays, and 30+ yard pass plays.

Understood, but teams flip the field on us a lot by destroying us on the intermediate stuff. I'd like to know our 3rd and long statistics. Clock gets eaten up as well. When I see an offense sputtering and teams beating that bend but don't break, it gets concerning. My 9-5 job is to find trends and how we can financially benefit and plan. As an observer and fan, I think we can shore up a lot to assist a sputtering offense. Less plays, more pressure, and minimizing these third and longs we give up. Any good coach is finding ways to get better and we can absolutely get better here. At times today I felt helpless with the holes we had for Oklahoma to exploit.

The boys did a great job today though, so I'm proud of them as my Good and Ugly shared. I just wish we save some clock somewhere because we needed it due to the offense. I'm not happy right now so I'm being more negative than usual, but I feel strongly about our ability to go more lockdown man and force a quarterback to beat us. Any SEC quarterback can hit a wide open receiver, but how many can make that throw Aimpson threw to Horton near the goal line?

Good- The defense played as well as they could...The Tight end played very good... Bernard..Hill at running back ( even though he got beat up)..

Bad- Simpson not as good as originally believed... NO Heisman trophy or Home Depot awards shows for him this year... he might should consider staying another year and not throwing himself to the NFL wolves.... If he thought Oklahoma was good just wait till he sees Auburn's defense in two weeks... Auburn's defense is well conditioned because they have been playing most of their entire games..The O line is just not a physical enough to be in the SEC gauntlet.. Will a new OL coach matter next year?...The running backs..Why can't we find a fresh and hungry running back in the later quarters (when our others are beaten up)?... it doesn't have to be the best running back just a really hungry and hard runner..Running up the middle most of the damn time..Any misdirection plays in our arsenal?.... when we really need some short yardage, how about a wishbone play with nothing but offensive and defensive lineman as the backs?

Ugly- Penalties at the worst possible time.. Turnovers..Not only are we Oklahoma's bitch, but we are Brett Venable's bitch... Let that soak in..It's gonna take a long time to get out of that category.. We finally surpassed Notre Dame and the number of national titles..

The loss hurts for two reasons: (1) we were clearly the better team even with our flaws, (2) it puts all the pressure in the world on winning in Jordan-Hare.

Good: Defense in general, but tackling was bad at times. Lawson confounds me when smaller guys break his tackles. And Sabb took several bad angles and lacked physicality too.

Bad: OL push. Special teams. I think Ty's feeling the pressure with every passing game, pun intended. The lack of an offensive rushing threat will continue to degrade Ty's performances.

Ugly: WRs. Not really "ugly," but I put it in this category because for all the hype of our starting 3, we just aren't seeing elite separation and hands, with the exception of Bernard. Really, where would we be this season without the breakout performance of Cuevas as a receiver???????? No one predicted he'd be a critical difference maker as a pass catcher. Meanwhile how much hype did Williams and Horton get before Game 1???
