The money isn't going to magically appear because he losses more games. The very last thing Byrne is going to spend funds on is a buyout that large that squeezes and strains other areas of the AD, collective/NIL, and fundraising. For better or worse, his approach to everything begins and ends in terms of what is most financially responsible for the athletic department.
I feel those two things are directly intertwined. Anyone that thinks people will continue to pour money into a losing product are gonna be sorely disappointed when it doesn't happen.
I personally feel today lost a lot of support and nothing short of a 10-2 season is gonna restore any trust.
Texas lost due to Arch looking like complete shit, but their defense looked amazing. We didn't look good in any aspect of the game. I can take a loss as a #1 team if we struggle in an area. I cannot respect a loss to an un-ranked team and getting your ass handed to you and looking lost in every aspect of the game while doing it.
