🏈 The Good, The Bad and The Ugly vs. Auburn

Ugly: Slade Bolden. Although he caught the TD in overtime (his only catch of the entire game), he provides no offensive threat to the defense. NONE. He can't get open. How does a starting receiver not catch a single pass in the entire game until overtime? Backups had more catches than he did (and they didn't play until the second half). Even after Williams went out, he still didn't catch anything. RBs had more catches than he did.
Totally agree with this statement. He is not a threat to do much with the ball in his hands at WR and you automatically eliminate any potential for a punt or kick return with him back there. I have to believe Javon Baker, Hall, Leary and even Bell are better options at WR.

Ugly - the first three quarters of play for us. I haven't ever seen that bad of play since I became a fan of the University of Alabama. It was way worse than the Championship against Clemson. It was almost abnormal. We were failing everywhere, everywhere.
In my Good, Bad and Ugly statement, I mentioned that I believe some coaches have checked out. As you said it was abnormal. Maybe they have already been told or the see the writing on the wall about next year. That poorly of a prepared team did not add up for sure.

BoB definitely appears to have checked out. How do you not have a plan for the defensive attack that you know was coming? His offense has NO CREATIVITY! We essentially ran the same 2 run plays all night. What happened to the other 99% of the run playbook? What happened to utilizing the TE? What happened to runs plays for the QB? What happened to the RB screen? Saban can bitch all he wants, but it doesn't take an expert to see the issues and a fair amount of it is coaching.

Worst game we’ve played since our last visit there. Boogs have Sabans number in Lee County. Don’t believe his LSU teams won there either.
No doubt. He has to own some of these performance in the cow pasture. I have said on here before Bear is 1A and Saban 1B. It comes down to the Bear buried the Barn and their program, Saban has not. I know it is different eras so hard to compare but for me that is the small separation between the two.

Same for me, I’ve been saying it all year. You can stick single coverage on him all game. He’s zero threat. Started 12 games, plays most snaps, and has 279 yards receiving. Oh, and 1 TD on the season. And he is absolutely no threat in the return game, even when he does start at the correct depth and field one. How can we not have a better WR and punt returner with all the studs on this team?

Trey has made it back to contribute, and I love that, but he's no longer dynamic and more of a Roy Upchurch plant and push guy. I'm hopeful he continues to progress.

I have a couple thoughts on this. I feel he isn't 100% mentally over his injuries. Totally understandable. As Terry has said, he's not 100% either from a health prospective.

My second thought is they have really scared him with potentially turning the ball over. I mean, he carries that ball with two arms well past the line of scrimmage and I think it's hurting his durability and speed.

He's gonna get back, but will need another offseason in my mind. Hopefully Weaton can step in somewhere. Also hoping Robinson isn't badly injured.

Did B-Rob hurt his leg?

CNS had 6 NCs in about half the span. Although it is an apples to apples comparison, it’s not the same types of apples.

Larry Munson would have said Bama hit them in the face with a hobnailed boot.

He is now 4-7 there. 0-3 at LSU.

Coach Bryant had a similar problem with ut. Finally the program just got bigger than that problem and Bama ran off 11 straight on them.

No offense, but Bear never had to play Auburn in Jordan Hare.

You and I agree on a while lot … and we agree that Saban’s record against Auburn is a knock on his otherwise amazing record with the Tide. We differ though on its importance in whether he’s the GOAT or not. I absolutely loved Coach Bryant but what CS’s done since 2008 puts him at 1 and Coach Bryant at 2. That’s not to say I don’t want him to make beating Auburn more of a priority. I posted a comment a few months back saying the last box I want CS to check before retirement is a multi year run of victories over the tiggers. In fact, I said I hoped he wouldn’t lose to them again. Of course, CS didn’t play for Bama so he’s had to learn about the rivalry. CB played for the Tide so he viscerally knew how important a victory in the Iron Bowl was to Tide fans.
