Sorry, I assumed everyone was watching so I eased up on the updates tonight...
Not sure the announcers have talked about Arizona enough or shown Jennie Finch enough...(not that there's anything wrong with that).
She still looks great for her age...

Headed to bottom of the 6th.... Fouts has faced the minimum (1 hit, 14 K's). Bama still up 2-0.
Bama added some insurance to make it 5-0 (Morgan RBI double, Doerr PH 2 run HR). Headed to the 7th... Top of the order coming up for the Wildcats...

I think Doerr had a confidence issue this year after a slow start, she's a much better hitter than she showed.
UCLA beats FSU 4-0... Noles had some chances against Garcia but never got one across, then they imploded in the 6th and gave up 3 runs. It'll be Bama vs. Bruins Friday night (loser goes to OU's side of the bracket, winner sits pretty going into the weekend). Not that it means much but I was more concerned with UCLA than I am/was OU... but we have Hemphill, they don't, so I'll sleep ok.

Alabama softball earned a convincing 5-1 win Thursday night over Arizona to stay in the winner's bracket at the Women's College World Series.
OKLAHOMA CITY ā Alabama softball earned a convincing 5-1 win Thursday night over Arizona to stay in the winner's bracket at the Women's College World Series.
Alabama (51-7) took an early two-run lead over Arizona (39-14) with runs in the first and third innings, including a solo home run from Bailey Hemphill. Still leading by two in the bottom of the sixth, an RBI double from Maddie Morgan made it 3-0 before Abby Doerr stepped in as a pinch-hitter and slugged a two-run home run to left center to make it 5-0. The Wildcats' Jessie Harper erased the shutout with a two-out solo home run in the seventh but a strikeout ended the game in the next at-bat.
The Tide was led by a dominant performance by Montana Fouts (25-3) in the circle, tying her career high with 16 strikeouts in the complete-game victory. She faced the minimum until the solo home run in the seventh and struck out the side in four of the seven innings pitched. Hemphill scored two of the team's five runs and Morgan went 2-for-3 for her third multi-hit game of the season.
With the win, Alabama advances in the winners bracket and will play Friday at 8:30 p.m. CT on ESPN2. The Tide will play the winner of tonight's game between UCLA and Florida State.

Curiosity led me to look back at the 2019 season to see who it was that pitched against Arizona when the Tide played them in the WCWS. It was a 2-0 Bama win with Fouts in the circle. I'd forgotten the team played AZ early on in the '19 season: a 6-1 win. Last night, Fouts for the third time in Bama's 5-1 win.
AZ has scored two runs against Fouts, only one of them earned. 21 innings, 1 earned run.
I'm pretty sure I heard this correctly, maybe not. IF I did, either Tom or Gray mentioned last night that in AZ's batting order, positions 4-9, were a combined 0-13 last night. 13 K's.
