🏈 The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly...

Ah, I see. Thank you, I appreciate it.

So, QB and Kiffin = bad. Henry awesome but underused. Howard improved.

If Kiffin costs him a shot at NYC .. RAGE!

Henry did poach a touchdown from Drake that Drake deserved from a yard out. He ry got the touchdowns and almost 100 yards, but like everyone has said, it appeared that Kiffin was keeping the ball out of his hands for most of the first three quarters.

Good: rbs, secondary play improved, OJ usage

Bad: pass blocking against non-sec opponent seemed difficult at times, place kicking, dl and lbs played below their ability for much of the game, Coker in one word **uncomfortable**

Ugly: my face most of the day because I had to miss the game to visit my wife's grandmother... sourness

Bateman being the starter may be inevitable. He had some errant throws but things just seemed to run better with him. When coker has lots of time he's pretty good. Under pressure it's ugly. I don't think that will improve as we head into sec play. Ole miss will hit alabama's offense harder than any team all year. If he plays the majority of downs saturday, I think we drop this one to missy.

So you think Ole miss defense is not exponentially better than the 2 teams we've already played?

If they play anything like they did last year, they are going to give us fits... I don't think that Coker under pressure is going to look good. I hope he proves me wrong.

It would not surprise me if we were down 10-20 points at halftime.

I will chime in and say that based on the 2 games we've seen from Bama, Bateman fits better with what I think (and I don't get paid to think about football) would serve us better against OM. His ability to get outside the tackles and throw on the run (assuming he doesn't throw an ugly pick) gives us some cushion against the OM d line. Just my opinion.

Good... Howard is coming into his own. I wonder how many other times he was open, yet totally missed. Humphrey is coming a long nicely, his coverage & ball hawking on the fumble was slick. Henry, when he his given the reigns to run downhill. JK Scott improved.

In between; Kiffin seems to have used MTSU as a glorified scrimmage to pressure Coker to make throws, of all types, screens, long posts, receiver screens, passes to the RB in the flat but just as important, managing the huddle quickly w/o looking like a dear in the headlights. Coker did ok. Same with Bateman. Whoever can show the lack of bonehead decision making over the next week will be the starter for the rest of the year.

Bad... Sub par QB decision making on all counts. I wish these guys would just let the game happen, use the check down or throw it away.

Ugly... Griffin seems to be toast. What a waste. I hope, strictly for this kids sake, he can have a moment of redemption. I'd hate for him to live with missed opportunities.

Dude where do you get that from? How in the world did things "run better" with Bateman?

Coker's drives went like this:
- 3 and out, punt.
- 4 plays, 32 yards, TD pass to Robert Foster (after Humphrey forced a fumble)
- 7 plays, 30 yards, turnover on downs.
- 3 and out, punt.
- 10 plays, 75 yards, TD from Henry. (OJ had the long catch and run)
- 2 plays, 70 yards, TD from Henry. (Drake had the long catch and run)
- 1 play, interception. Horrible deep pass that came nowhere near the receiver.
- 10 plays, 44 yards, Griffith misses a 24 yard field goal as the half ends (this was after the blocked punt and safety. Coker had a pretty good 2 minute drive only for Griffith to miss pretty much an extra point).

Bateman's drives went like this::
- 4 plays for just 3 yards, missed field goal. (This was after the defense forced another turnover on MTSU's first possession of the second half) Griffith misses a 49 yarder that was actually kicked 43 yards at most.
- 4 plays, 55 yards, TD pass to Drake on that little shovel pass again.
- 3 plays, 4 yards, punt.
- 11 plays, 97 yards, TD from Henry (pretty much the whole drive was Henry pounding the ball).
- 3 plays, 4 yards, punt.
- 6 plays, 24 yards, punt.
- 3 plays, 37 yards, interception on a horrible pass.
- 10 plays, 69 yards, game ends (they were running the clock out).

So in essence both started their day with bad first drives and then led TD drives and had TD passes on the second drive. They both had 10+ play drives and Batmean had a 97 yard drive. Both had horrible interceptions and both had multiple 3 and outs. So please explain of all of that how did the offense look better with Bateman? It looked like to me both had decent control of the offense and both had some pretty solid throws while at the same time had some bad throws. The best play for each, in my opinion, was this. Coker had a play were he scanned the entire field and couldnt find anyone open finally looked over to probably his third or fourth option and threw a bullet to OJ for a first down. Bateman's best throw was a beautiful 31 yard pass to Ty Smith on the sideline, but the probelm was he had his horrible pick two plays later at the goal line. I still feel a bit more comfortable with Coker than I do with Bateman but I like what Bateman brings to the game with his feet. Neither have hit a deep pass down the field which really bothers me. Last year we had a phantom complaint from fans that Sims couldn't complete passes down the field (despite him throwing several long passes) but right now the only passes that we have had go for more than 20 yards are because the receiver/runner breaks a tackle or a few tackles and takes it the rest of the way. We need some down field passes to convert or we will be in trouble regardless of who is in there.

@bama alum thanks for starting the thread for me, I was out of town yesterday and did not get to watch the game until today. To tell the truth, I was at the Marshall at Ohio University game...free tickets. Anyway, I digress.

Good the use of OJ Howard

Bad giving up a cheap TD in the 4 th quarter, 2 nd teasers need to make the most of their opportunities

Ugly field goals, Nuff said. IMO, Griffith is not healthy

I have two areas of concern, quarterback, and placekicker. Can Coker or Bateman get the job done against Ole Miss? I honestly don't know. They have put up 70 points against glorified high school teams. Is their offense and quarterback that good? Again, right now I don't know. I do know their defense is top notch, and Coker/Bateman will get picked off with some of the passes thrown this past Saturday. I do not feel good about it. Our field goal kicking is beyond pitiful. Although I admire Griffith personally, it is time to try whoever is next in line. I feel more uncertain about this season than any other within the last 6 years. Praying that I am terribly wrong.

Has anyone mentioned Dominick Jackson? He needs to go to a shelter after being abused Saturday.

If your kicker can't kick, your punter can't punt, one of your tackles can't block, your quarterback can't throw, and the fans leave early during blowouts, is there any way the Tide beats Ole Miss?

I see ole doom and gloom himself has returned.

First of all, Wisconsin is far from a 'glorified high school team'. Second, as some have mentioned, we were probably working on some things on offense, perhaps showing Ole Miss what we wanted them to see.

Good-Defensive play overall. It got better as the game went on.

Bad - offensive mistakes that killed drives

Ugly- As most have said, Griffin. My heart wants him to get his groove back, but my head tells me it is time for a change. I know our options are limited.

Look back over Saban's time at Alabama, one thing everyone seems to forget is that Bama inexplicably plays down to its competition. I am going to keep wearing my optimism hat and believe that was the case Saturday.

It is my belief that the Tide we saw in week one will return and cover the spread, (as long as it stays at 6.5). Further more I think Ole Miss will be the Tides hardest test, they get by them we will get to the playoffs.
