🏈 The Good, The Bad and The Ugly vs. Washington

Good- Defense and Bo!
Bad- penalties, most of which were mental miscues; false starts, delays, misalignment.
Ugly- officiating was piss poor at best. They didn't have control of the game from the get go and it looked like it could have gotten really ugly if there had been 3-4 more minutes left.

A bit off topic but anybody else wondering about team and too much 'talk'. I realize that the unsportsmanlike penalties late were teammates taking issue with some questionable (cheap)shots.

However, last week it was OJ and AuBarn asking us to let up and now tonight Alabama star Jonathan Allen doesn't hold back in calling Washington 'soft' - CBSSports.com

Is media wanting to make us the evil empire or do we need to STFU? I'm guessing media is baiting us because seems out of character for OJ and JA not to mention a Saban coached team.

Via Allen's twitter:

To all the reports saying I called Washington soft that is not true I never said that, at Alabama were taught to win and lose with class

I have nothing but the up most respect for Washington and how they came out there and competed today

I saw that and not surprised. JA is a monster and a beast, but always seemed 1st class. F'ng media.

Your exact quote was: “They were soft. No disrespect, but we could have played better"

Good = Bo. Ran thru more huskies than the Iditarod!
Bad = Bad omen Kiffen missed the bus again and never regained his composure.
Ugly = Washington women...talk about dogs....wow they would make a freight train take a dirt road.

McMurphy is a pretty decent writer. When Jon Allen put that tweet out, he's basically calling McMurphy a liar. I can't see the writer following up publicly like that unless he got the quote right...

Allen is a great kid and does everything the right way. With emotions running high, especially after all the PF's and chippieness, doesn't surprise me he could let that slip out. Yes, it's possible for even the finest Bama players to make a mistake every now and then lol... And under the circumstances I don't think it's a big deal. .

Good - D Another NOT Go Ryan Go Ryan
Bad - O's Penalties
Ugly - What to make of Jalen Hurts' regression?

It's a bit disconcerting that Jalen Hurts has regressed in the last six weeks. But he has, and it's a bit usual that the talented freshman has taken a step backwards instead of showing signs of progress at this stage of his first college season. Hurts has posted three of his four worst "raw" quarterback ratings in his career during the last four games, according to ESPN's stat service.

The one attached to his stat line Saturday -- 13.8 -- was by far the lowest of the year. Hurts completed only 50 percent of his 14 pass attempts for 57 yards. He didn't contribute a touchdown pass, but he also didn't commit a turnover. Still, he flirted with disaster when his first throw of the game was nearly intercepted by Washington safety Budda Baker.

"I think he'd be the first to tell you he didn't play great today," Kiffin said. "But again, like I said all week, in the press conference, this is a big stage and he's still a true freshman."

Before Saturday, it was drilled into Hurts' head that he must avoid giving the ball away at all costs. Hurts adhered to the conservative game plan, passing up risky throws on several occasions.

"When something is not there, you just want to be smart with the ball and throw it away and get what you could get," Hurts said.

Alabama coach Nick Saban has long preferred his quarterback to be a game manager. Hurts is just a more athletic version of some of his predecessors. But his deficiencies as a passer continue to be revealed to the world, and there is no sign that he is capable of fixing them before the 2017 season begins.

Good: Bo Running posessed, defensive backs played great!

Bad: the overall attitude of the team.. Jonathon Allen, Ryan Anderson, Harrison.. I know they were fired up and pissed about the blatant cheap shots but that isn't how we roll and they know that.

Ugly: Buckeye's game plan. It looked like a Kiffin plan but with only outside plays. Clemson looked so strong because they refused to give OSU anything outside by crashing the edges, knowing OSU wouldn't run up the middle. When they did run up the middle they gained 6+ yards each time. Urban was out coached badly.. it wasn't the Jimmies and Joes this time.. it was all X's and O's

I was mainly referring to the performance of our OL. They better step up Monday night.
