🏈 The Good, The Bad and The Ugly vs. OU

Good - The game went about as good as it possibly could have in the first quarter. I dont think you could possibly have a better start to the game. And the offense was unbelievable all night except for a few mistakes that made them stub their toes some.

Bad - So many mistakes at key moments, whether it be unbelievably stupid penalties (I'm looking at you Wills) or mental errors on defense like missed tackles (looking at you Mack) or misalignments or losing composure. Defense also got super gassed in the second half. Cant play like that defensively against Clemson and win.

Ugly - Holy crap Oklahoma's defense is pathetic.
Also throwing Surtain in there, good grief he had a terrible game. I have no idea how he was still playing in he fourth quarter. He was absolutely abused.

Alabama doesn't have anybody that can replace the starters with the exception of the DL....#30 an #32 didn't little last night and they both had 15 yard penalties as well. For a team that has been at the top of recruiting for years our depth at ILB is none.

Good- fast start by the offense and Locksley’s play calling. Tua was money all night.

Bad- lack of focus toward the end of the first half. Really had a chance to crush them mentally. Calling the fair catch after OU had amassed back to back major penalties and then getting nothing was the start.

Ugly- can officiating really get much worse? The illegal formation penalty on Wills was bullshit! The first 35 snaps, he lined up the exact same way and nothing but then it became a problem. #75 should’ve received his 2nd unsportsmanlike and been ejected on his hit on Q. It amazed me that we could get in their backfield and get yanked down yet not a single hold be called. Their DBs mugged our WRs yet not a single flag.

Good. Win with 3 starters out
Bad lost the penalty war
Ugly. No calls for them holding on every play

What three starters were out?
Ok 3 players suspended 1 was a starter.

I mean yeah I knew of the one but you just said three starters, so I thought maybe someone was injured or something.
Winning the game with 1 starter out just didn't make much difference. That's how deep the team is.

UGLY - Surtain getting torched by Lamb
mugging more like it! ;)

Surtain got bullied in that game, which worries me considering he's likely about to be matched up with a 6-foot-4-inch, 210-pound Julio Jones clone (in terms of size).

I think Surtain will learn from this game and play better against Clemson. As you say the physicality aspect is concerning because that takes the weight room to fix ultimately. But there are some technique things he can do to improve his ability to handle a more physical receiver.

Good - As fans, we can bitch about which players sucked the most in the game and all the deficiencies we have, but still play for the 3rd NC out of the last 4 years and going for 6 out of the last 10....yeah, let that sink in. :)

Bad - Tua threw three incomplete passed....wtf? :p

Ugly - Bulovas made a fg and didn't miss an extra point.......... again, wtf? :p

Saying we are spoiled a little may be an understatement, but I'm good with that, pretty sure the only folks on the planet that wanted us to win were (BFO).....Bama Fans Only. (y)

Oh, I'm not jumping off the cliff like some numbnuts I saw on Twitter. IMO Surtain will be an All American when its all said and done but right now he's young and he's getting bullied by more physical receivers. Justyn Ross is a freak of nature, physically, and is a guy that has been like this since he was like 16-17 years old. IMO Shy Carter needs to move outside. McKinney and Mayden can handle star/money. Let Surtain get some work, maybe trading out with Shy/Savion at different times but you're asking for trouble if he's left on an island with Ross all night.

It was a Top 10 receiver he went up against in CeeDee Lamb. it wasn't some chump. He will learn from this as a True Freshman. Not to mention the time Murray had to throw, which kills corners. He will have his hands full with 6'5 Tee Higgins and 6'4 Justyn Ross. I think he will do just fine.
