🏈 The Good, The Bad and The Ugly vs. OM Rebs, Bears or Landsharks

good: big win

bad: tv crew for them showing that couple (or the guy) eating popcorn at the end. wth was that even about?!

ugly: the secondary.....at times. we'd heard about om offense, but i thought our secondary was a bit better. yes we held them to just 7 points, but we had WAY too many holes in our secondary for them to get passes out there and get some decent yardage. if not fixed, that can bite us later in the season.

Good - Well... pretty much everything lol
Tua was unbelievable and Jalen was great, too except for the one pick.
All the running backs played well.
Offensive line did well until the third team guys got in there.
Defense really showed guts after getting punched in the mouth after the first play and absolutely strangled Ole Miss after that.
Trevon Diggs had a coming out party. Both times they tried him deep he absolutely owned their QB.
Mike Locksley has been an unbelievable play caller through three games. It's not just because he has quite possibly the best QB in the country and some of the best skill players in the country, but his formations and plays have been very creative. The new wrinkle with the two back pistol/shot gun set really, really could be a weapon this year.
Josh Jacobs' taunting penalty may have been the greatest 15-yard penalty ever. Totally worth it to see him mock that stupid land shark BS. Saban didn't care for it too much though lol

Bad - Kicking still sucks.
Jalen's pick. That was a horrible decision. Don't know if he got too greedy or what.
The first play. Savion Smith didn't give much resistance there. Seemed like Surtain and Shy Carter played the other side for the most of the game. I didn't notice Savion but hopefully he shakes that off. I think he's going to be good.

Ugly - The Ole Miss defense. It is quite possibly the worst SEC defense of all time and I'm not being hyperbolic with that. I truly believe they may give up 40+ upwards of 7 times this year. Absolutely pathetic.

Every time Tua made a big play the camera would pan over at Jalen. It really looked like they were hoping to catch him pouting or making a sour face, which really doesn't sit well with me. Jalen has handled this situation much better than 99% of people out there would or could and BS like that only makes things worse.

Good - Defense. Ole sis completed ONE pass in the second half, One for 6 yards. Except for the first play, our D handled those awesome receivers with ease.

Bad - Field Goals make me nervous, really need to improve, Popcorn guy is about to become famous in bad Bama memes.

Ugly - Scoring, we could have hit 100 and been the talk of Sportscenter for a week. I know it's not our style, but when you have a sports car sometimes you just want to hit the gas and let her run. Could have been really ugly if we had a coach like me.

Good: Putting in QB #2 with 5 mins remaining in the half. #embarassing

Bad: Ole Miss fans who didn't stay for the whole game. Guess they just came for the blue pom poms.

Ugly: Equipment manager washed their white britches with the blue jerseys. Rookie mistake.

Good - The first play of the game... didn't do anything but piss us off.

Bad - The first play of the game.... really got toasted pretty bad on the play.

Ugly - The first play of the game.... It went from a raucous, packed house Vaught-Hemingway crowd to an almost empty stadium ('cept for Bama Fans), staggering, slobbering drunk by halftime, wandering in the Grove.

Good - Offensive line blocking in the run game. All 3 qbs passing. Mac’s pass to the sideline while getting walloped was probably my favorite.

Bad - Ole Miss defense. That’s the worst I’ve seen them field in many years.... and I’ve seen plenty of bad ones.

Ugly - Ole Miss mascot

The Barners just lost a walk-on punter who started and was decent for them last year. Let's talk about what we have. OK, that was painful, now, let's discuss what we are going to do about not SKYler and not DeLONG. Is it time for coach Saban to bring in another free agent?

Good.....offense ...execution....players...play calling
Bad...ugly....combined....
The commercials in 4th quarter.... didn’t think the game...would ever just get on with it....as the announcers thought the same....
Yep, and the minutes long discussion & camera shot of the man eating his popcorn straight out of the box the passing it to his two female companions. but it was funny though

Good write up BamaBoyJosh... I cannot stand anybody or anything that tries to incite dissension or is quarrelsome. Just today's media these days.

Good- This says it all for me... Have you EVER watched a game where a team scores 62 UNANSWERED POINTS?!!! In anything?!!! Me neither. That had to be a complete TEAM effort. Both sides of the ball AND it went down as far as the 3 deep roster. Just plain inconceivable.

Bad- I am concerned about our DL & Linebackers. M Wilson still seems to be lost at making his calls & getting the right angles. Quinnen Williams has been a nice surprise on the DL but he is the only one that seems to be a monster. Raekwon is still underperforming IMHO which I just don't get. I don't know how much of what I am seeing with the front 7 is the new defensive coordinator, players not making the right calls, talent... maybe all the above but they just don't seem to have the suffocating run stop that we've seen in the past.

UGLY - CNS is starting to look like he has a real blind spot with developing a Field Goal kicker. In all his years, he has consistently fixed problems across all phases of the roster EXCEPT this one issue. It's such a freaking anomaly that he hasn't been able to find us a shut down kicker. It's baffling really. He definitely deserves the benefit of the doubt. Heck, he may have solved the issue with kickers by recruiting a roster & coaching hires offensively that we may not need a kicker to win a game (it sure is looking that way this year) but lawd help us if we need to. What would I do if I could get us another Michael Proctor!!! Has he had any kids who is close to recruiting age?

Good- the play of our defense AFTER that initial play. The defense allowed 173 yards on their other 58 snaps for an average of 2.98 yards per play!!! SALTY!!!
Coach Locks was dialed in calling plays and the kids executed!!

Bad- coach getting caught on a hot mic going off on JJ8.

Ugly- that Landshark defense was more like "Land Sharts!"

I gotta say, I've been pleasantly surprised with Locksley myself. But, he hasn't really been tested by a good defense yet either, so I'm still wait-and-see.

Still, 500+ YPG and 50+PPG thru 3 games is still pretty impressive.

You're right about that. Just the fact that I see some actual creativity out there again rather than the bland play calling, formations, schemes, etc. we saw last year is a breath of fresh air. Locksley has really brought some nice concepts to this offense.

Yes, I have. Same two teams in fact.

If you happened to read over Tidesports writers picks yesterday you'd have seen Cecil quote the score as his score prediction--62-27. In fact, as I recall, the game came up this past week talking about Hollingsworth throwing five TD's in one game and those who have thrown four.
