Bama is up 35-3 before they pulled the starting QB and started substituting on both offense and defense. The game was O.V.E.R. at that point. This defense, that you're calling "a bunch of average people" didn't allow more than five plays on seven of the eight Mizzou possessions.
3 plays, punt.
5 plays, downs
5 plays, punt
5 plays, punt
12 plays, 50 yard FG
5 plays, and the half ended after gaining what, a half of a yard?
5 plays, fumble.
124 yards, three points, and we're in the middle of the third quarter.
But these guys are average? No offense but I see average game awareness with that kind of take.
And, let it be said, I was impressed with what Missouri did last night. They were better than I expected and if they get a few things cleaned up should give UT a run Saturday.
I'll have to double check here but I'm thinking about 130 of their 322 yards came on two plays: busted coverage by a frosh on one play and then 75 to end the game. Larry Roundtree will play on Sunday's but it's average to hold him to 67 yards on 14 carries. As a team, the Tigers put up 69 yards. What was the average passing...they gained about 10 per completion (obviously the wheel route taints that number, but still.)
A solid opening game.
