🏈 The Good, The Bad and The Ugly vs. LSU

Good: punt return for td and Harris. Alabama never quit. As pathetic as we looked way too often, we were an onside kick and td away from winning
Bad: defense especially our dbs. Their o-line beat our pass rush most of the game
Ugly: the first half. The fact that we were outplayed and outcoached for the most part.

Good: Najee was a beast. I don't know why we didn't use him more earlier in the game. It's like they were trying to force the passing game thinking LSU was planning on a running attach. The run game was working and we abandoned it early.
Bad: Seriously???? A missed field goal AND a missed extra point???? Pathetic
Ugly: What happened to our defense? Very little pressure the whole first half... no stunts, few blitzes easy completions for them and THIRTY-ONE FREAKIN' FIRST DOWNS given up. That is beyond ugly. That's embarrassing.

Good: An honorable effort that came up short. Moral victories are still useless nonetheless.

Bad: Stupid turnovers. The moment Tua had his fuck up in the first drive of the game, I had a bad feeling in my gut

Ugly: The defense. Seriously, this is the most pathetic defense Alabama has had since 2007. For over 10 years I've gotten used to seeing Alabama defenders make tackles on first contact, but that seems to be completely nonexistent on this team. Thankfully, I think the right coaches are in place, we just have to hope the defensive staff stays intact this year.

This team is not a play off team my fellow Bama fans. They are a 9-3 team being held together by the best QB and WRs in the United States. I think the team will be on upset alert next week as well. Its an 11:30 AM kick off against a team that loves playing Alabama really dirty. I expect it to be a gritty 27-17 type of game.

I don't know, my friend. I'm not so sure about Golding.

Good: Offense
Bad: REALLY bad turnovers
Ugly: Defense

One other note: why are we SO bad at kicker that what used to be routine XP tries are now occasions for butt-clenching? I really need to know why this is a thing. It can only be coaching at this point right?

Welp... Dang it.

Good:
-Fight... Dudes fought their butt off in the 2nd half. I know a lot of the fan base threw in the towell at half, but the D came out and got a few stops and the O got rolling a little. Certainly saved face and at least give them self a slight chance to sneak in if other teams lose down the stretch

-N. Harris. It's a shame he didn't get a chance to impact the game the same way in the first half... But he was a beast in half 2. He single handidly changed momentum with his physicality and will to win. BTW I thought it was interesting that Saban said at halftime we couldn't get the run game going... But we never really gave it a proper opportunity. Hell the first run went for 30... and were behind the sticks with penalties and sacks. More on that later

-D. Smith showed out. Waddle when given an opportunity showed out. Jennings certainly impacted the game... So did McKinney. Some good individual efforts there

-Waddle Punt return. He's the Josh Jacobs of this team. Sitting behind some great players, but he's the best all around weapon we have.

Bad:
-Coaching. Both coordinators (and the head coach) were disappointing tonight, but especially on the D side. The bad tackling is more individual effort... But when you have multiple 12 men on the field calls... 1 of them on a CHANGE OF POSSESSION. Embarrassing. I cannot count how many times LSU snapped the ball when our guys, specifically Benton and Carter are flat footed and not looking at the QB. Defensively we did nothing to confuse or get them out of rhythm, the way they did our O. Their early blitzes and stunts had our interior OL confused and impacted the game. The passive zone late in the game was infuriating.

On 'O', we just looked confused and out of rhythm. So many times we passed on 1st and ran on 2nd, out of shotgun... I guess to break tendency. When we finally found momentum it was with the pistol & getting NH some momentum. No idea why that isn't used more... But we did Tua no favors by getting behind the chains all half.

Head Coach - The end of the half was botched so badly it was embarassing. Saban refusing to call 1 of his 2 TO's on the run & short pass plays when we are in a big hole was painfully bad. What made it worse was trying to be "aggressive" with 26 seconds left after letting the clock run down. You can't have it both ways. Either save some time or sit on it and call it a half. Yes it was a horrible decision by Tua, but coaching put him in that position to try and get a huge chunk... Instead of having more time or just running the ball. Ultimately that TD killed us.

-The D in general. Just not much good to say outside of 3 dudes - McKinney, Jennings, Barrimore. Lewis was in the backfield but didn't make any plays. R. Davis was on a milk carton... Seriously. Unfortunately just too many marginal & young guys out there to be dependable. Mayden & Carter are just finesse. Benton is a step behind. Battle is just green. And when the "studs" have an off night, it's just a lot to overcome. Diggs was just atrocious in all ways... And ultimately the DB coach has to take some responsibility. They were bullied tonight be the RB... He didn't make them miss, he went through them. That 3rd down sideline conversion on Diggs was mind boggling. Ugh.

-Tua's TO's. Both of them were back breakers. You just knew it would come back to bite us. As mentioned I put a lot of the 2nd one on the coaches... But the first one was just bad. No excuse. He played with a lot of heart tonight and made some incredible throws... Props to him. In regards to the Heisman... Does a Heisman slide on 3rd down short of the marker in the biggest game of the year? Dang.

-WR's dropping passes. Hadn't happened all year but unfortunately it did tonight. Too bad.

-Penalties. All over the place. Looked extremely undisciplined and rusty

Ugly:
-Kicking game. Welp... Here we go again. The missed XP looked like ole boy kicked it 90 degrees sideways. How does that happen? Our poor walk on punter couldn't catch the ball to punt it. Every single big game there are catastrophic issues in the kicking game.

-Landon Dickerson cheap shot... I think it was BBJ who mentioned earlier in the season that he's a borderline cheap player. Well it's no longer borderline. I'm all about dudes playing with intensity but that was basically a 4 point penalty. We missed an XP. 4+1 = 5. FML

-The Moss "reception". WTF was that? I still don't know what happened there. I do know the dumb ass officiating "expert" came on and stumbled over his own words to basically admit he had no idea what the hell happened. Huge play... Bad luck.

Good game for lsu, they deserve credit.

Bad, two to's from Tua and two on downs, one by the punter and missed kick

Ugly, too much to list on the defensive side, but will say some of our defenders should be on the wrestling team instead
of the football team.

I take the youth into consideration. You can be the best general in an army, but if your army is made up of mostly inexperienced privates then your strategies are hampered.

I give him one more year. If this nonsense continues, then get rid of him.

Fair points. Still, I would have liked to see us try some stunts and more blitzes in rushing the passer. We are overly focused on contain and don't play aggressively enough. I told my LSU buddy, that the main difference here is that LSU played to win, and by that I mean they played with complete aggression. We, on the other hand, played safe, especially on defense and it stung.

Good - nothing when you lose and give up 40+ points (ok there are some things but I am not in the mood to post them when we lose)
Bad - officiating, turnovers, first half play calling and use of our #22. I stated in an pregame post I wanted to see bama play a clean game. We did the opposite in the first half. If they had done that they win this game even with all the ugly points below.
Ugly - Defense especially tackling. We are a soft team.... If I see another missed tackle or #7 allowing LSI's #22 to gain an extra 3 or 4 yards after contact I am going to puke. Any team that gives up 40+ points NEVER deserves to win including LSU. The Who will get exposed when they play a decent D that has some semblance of an offense.

Good: Guys didn't fold like a cheap suit.

Bad: Reality IMO...we got beat by a team that is all around better than us. Our defense could not do what was needed to win and that as a combination of our youth and yes LSU has an offense that does what it takes to win. I see them and Ohio State in the final.

Ugly: Just watching a young defense get torched by a qb bootleg, a qb draw, and other shit, our mental errors, air fumble and terrible first half.

Good - Najee in the 2nd half putting the whole team in his back. And penalties. Only 5 the whole game. I think that’s the best penalty performance all year...

Bad - Kicking game, broken record, DB’s getting toasted, lack of pressure on Burrow most drop backs, preparedness

Ugly - 3rd down D, watching Burrow light is up, watching Burrow run for 60 big yards against us, and poor tackling.

Horrendous - Inside LB play leaving short crossing routes wide damn open, Tua’s phantom strip fumble, and the inexcusable INT with under 1 minute left in 1st half followed up nicely by their TD pass to a RB that we had no plan whatsoever for.

Burrow pretty much wrapped up the Heisman tonight. He’s a stud. Can’t argue it. He had some very good games before today, but he had an incredible game tonight. His to lose. Sad that Tua won’t win a Heisman as good as he’s been for 2 years. Tough break.
