The Good: Jalen Hurts is showing great progression as a quarterback. It appears to me that he is the number one running back on our team.
The Bad: Jalen Hurts is the number one running back on our team. He risks season ending injury with every run.
The Ugly: The entire defense. The defensive line could get no pressure on the quarterback, and entirely quit playing the fourth quarter against the run. Our secondary looked porous to me the entire game

In my opinion,we are not the number one team in the country, Clemson is. Their defense looks like the type I have become accustomed to seeing in Bama Crimson. We may not be the best team in the SEC after watching Mississippi State dismantle LSU last night.

Bad - Bland, pedestrian offense and another missed opportunity to work on something other than QB runs.

My postscript there was directed more at the number of definitive statements made by people in reference to others opinions. My guess is if you had enough experience in coaching/observing/evaluating QB's you'd be too busy to get on a message board and call anybody that disagrees with your opinion a dumb ass (essentially what you did). I've made the same mistake in the past but try to refrain from it when it comes to someone else's thoughts on a subject I'm not an expert in. But, if that's your thing by all means do what makes you happy. I'm just glad to get to work and have matching socks on every day.

Once again, don't like me calling you and others out, but have more to say than a gimicky comment, because you lose all your audience. Anybody else notice Jalen dusting off his imaginary lapel after one touchdown run and later holstering his invisible six shooters after a pass? Is he going into acting or does he have a condition we fans should know? Maybe I'm old school and behind the times. Maybe that's cute nowadays. Seriously? That's what you bitch about? One of the most calm and laid back QB's that barely ever shows emotion let alone show boat does a little "dust himself" off motion (which he did several times last year) and a gun pointer motion and hes suddenly a "gangsta"? Good grief.

As far as your prediction goes, if it turns out the way most of your predictions go we should expect a pretty great season.

For example when Harris or Bo motion outside with an empty backfield and Jalen takes on step and then runs up the gut? That's a designed QB draw and we ran that at least 3 times last night.

good: we won

the bad: defense...and i like to think it was mostly the secondary. granted that was the best qb we've faced so far. but to allow that may guys to be open for that long is just unacceptable. and the pass interference penalties? turn your damn head around and make a play for the ball. if their guy catches it, at least you can say you did your best. but if you don't even turn your head around and look for the ball, then all we can do is blame you.

the ugly: special teams..especially when it was us receiving the ball. we don't have that electric playmaker back on kick returns who can set us up with good field position. not great....just good is all i'm looking for. if you're not going to catch the ball, then please make damn sure you know it's gonna into the end zone for a touchback. this shit of watching it hit inside the 10 then roll out of bounds is bullshit. at least try to do something with the damn ball.


and i have to agree that we are not yet a championship caliber team. to that end, we haven't been tested yet. we haven't been down by 2 or more scores and had to come back to win yet. but that may very well happen in the coming weeks if we don't get better, especially defensively.

The Good... Hurts is a quality QB for another potential "college" playoff run and Saban plays to the strengths of his players.

The Bad... it appears that a good blueprint is in place to run with Bama. A short passing game and super tall X receivers.

The Ugly... about half of the fans are spoiled, expecting perfection. I think an announcer put it best and fans truely believe this.. "Sure Jalen can walk on water but I don't think he can swim!"

Good: Jalen has improved very much. Each game his progress is very noticeable.

Bad: Sure hated to lose Foristall (sp?)

Ugly: The concession prices at Bryant Denny. I paid more for a hot dog, nachos, popcorn, 1 water and 2 cokes at the game than I did for 3 premium burgers and fries at Mugshots pregame.

A long time friend of mine has this opinion of our team. I think this is puts it into focus.

Jon Allen, Rueben Foster, Tim Williams, Ryan Anderson, Dalvin Thomlinson, Eddie Jackson, and Marlon Humphrey were all NFL draft picks we lost off our D, 3 of which were 1st round and 3 more in 2nd or 3rd round. Allen and Reuben were absolutely 2 of the greatest defensive players in our history.

Then 1st game we lose Miller, Lewis, Jennings, and Evans. It is not possible to lose that many great players and several of the very talented "next up" guys and STILL be a historically dominant defense, especially like we are all accustomed to seeing.

We have a very good defense that will be even better when Evans and Jennings return and the next up guys get more reps. But it's not gonna be like last year or year before. And we can still compete for a spot in the playoff and the NC without a historic defense. We have enough offensive weapons to play with anyone.

Alabama had 9 players drafted in the first 79 picks, the entire Big 12 combined has produced 3.

In the live thread I noticed a few times in a series that he bailed... At the 30:35 mark is 2nd down and next play 3rd down. Looks like Saban and Daboll were coaching him up coming off the field in some regard.

I'll give you those 2 plays. The first could have been a quick hitting pass like a stop route or a slant and it was covered. Both times though, it didn't seem he needed to bail due to pressure,

The good- another win! 67 in a row over non-ranked opponents I believe. Jalen is progressing at the QB position.
The bad- I'm not crazy about Jalen being our leading rusher. Don't take away his talent, but I would like to lean more on Damien and Bo.
The ugly- our tackling wasn't up to BAMA standards. Our young pups struggled at times. Got fooled with their eyes and were slow to react. Problem with injuries, is you have to play those not really prepared. Good thing, you build depth for when Evans and Jennings get back to action.

Ugly. The D and the bickering around here. Come on people we all love the Tide and we all have opinions. @TheChief is on of the most knowledgeable football people on here. He knows a lot more than me. It does get heated, sometimes, during the game but remember why we're all here.
That's all I'm saying.

Good: our kicker kicked a 48 yard field goal when he couldn't hit from 30 yards in the spring game. He is doing a fine job compared to my expectations for him. I also think Levi Wallace is playing very well.. he got beat one time but recovered to knock it away but besides for that he has really solidified that other side. CSU was a good offensive football team and we shut them down for the most part until we emptied the bench.

Bad: I have heard people say leadership which I do agree with but the part that is missing is the "heart" There is very few people out their playing with the heart on defense that we are used to.. No Rueben Foster, Marlon Humphrey, Landon Collins, Ryan Anderson. There isn't anyone besides for Tony Brown and Minkah that even play with much fire in their belly and to me that is what is missing more than anything. The other players who aren't wired that way feed off of that and it is missing.

Ugly: The Offensive line play. We have the horses up there which is what is upsetting. They aren't working together and again they aren't playing with any fire, there isn't a Fluker, Robinson or Jones type up there getting in everybody's ass and getting them fired up. I don't think we have a talent issue or a scheme issue I think it is a competitive fire issue and we need to get it solved. I still don't think we are a championship team this year but we would have a chance if we can get everybody's fire lt.

I don't feel like the OL play was all that bad... I thought pass protection was a lot better than the first 2 games? I know we didn't trash CSU on the ground but didn't seem like it was any worse than the other 2 games. 4th quarter they mashed a lot of yards.

It wasn't any worse than the last two games but they weren't very good in those games either. Our o-line has size and talent from one end to another but they lack a mean streak that can make them a dominant unit. They have really struggled in pass protection but even more disturbing is that they are not getting the job done run blocking either. Run blocking is about attitude, knowing you assignment and trying to impose your will.

In my opinion, they have been the most disappointing part of our team so far. Look at all the studs we have recruited and signed at that position over the last several years.. it is mind boggling to me how we can find 5 guys who can blow CSU's or Fresno States defensive lines of the ball or even consistently open up holes for our running backs.

That is why they are my "ugly" this week
