šŸˆ The Good, The Bad and The Ugly vs. Clemson

Good: Young dudes getting some valuable experience. I believe Surtain will come back a stud next year. Jobe even got his feet wet tonight and honestly his WR made some incredible catches. But to be thrown out there for the first time in his career, it will be valuable and useful moving forward. JAD and he will battle it out for the 2nd corner, hopefully, whether S. Smith is healthy or not. Also McKinney & Moses playing all year should make them solid next season. Looking for anything positive out of that D tonight. Looked like Enoma played quite a bit in the second half too which is good for the future. N. Harris had a nice night with his opportunities... And should be an overall upgrade from D. Harris in terms of big play ability. He was a better back to finish the season IMO.

Bad: Entire defense not named Q Williams or A. Jennings. Seriously, did anyone else make a single play? Davis was a no show. Bugs not only didn't make plays he didn't even set the edge. And unfortunately we refused to rotate any DL's so no experience to be had up front tonight. D. Thompson was a shell of himself and neither LB Wilson or Moses had a positive impact. Frankly they got exposed, which may be a good thing for UA to bring Wilson back another year. The accumulation of Lewis and Miller injuries was devastating to that defense... There wasn't a freshman Rashaan Evans from back in 2015 (?) to bring in and make plays... Outside of QW there was no chance of getting QB pressure which absolutely destroyed us. At this level you'll need more than just guys that can "do their jobs"... You need dudes that can wreck the fucking house. Davis, Lewis, Miller were supposed to be those types of players. 2 got injured and 1 got lost. Damn

Ugly: Play calling. Both sides. And special teams. First off - That fake FG was downright embarrassing. Only down 15 with a 4th and 5 (ish, can't remember), you have a QB who's 42/6 TD/INT ratio and we'd rather ask our backup QB to run behind our kicker for the first down... against an alerted defense.... Wow. Can't ever remember seeing Saban crack like that, but that was pitiful. Defensively Tosh had nothing for them... Didn't trick Lawrence 1 time with coverage and certainly didn't dial up any effective blitzes. No sacks is hard to do with the talent accumulated on that side of the ball. Have to take into account the injury issues at OLB but still... his late blitzes were either ill timed or non existent. He got abused tonight and the lack of discipline showed. The O side of the ball was slightly better, but the red zone was a huge disappointment. Could have ground and pounded them into at least 2 more TD's but either used the wrong personnel or got too cute. Can't believe Jacobs wasn't used exlusively on the goal line and not that wildcat shit... As a legitimate RB. D. Harris had become our third best back over the last 4 games but got the big carries at the goal line. Head scratching all night.

All in all very frustrating but a lot of motivation moving forward. Lots of talent to replace, but tons coming back at the skill positions. Enos will bring some slight changes I'm sure which COULD be a good thing (Locks was much better the rest of the year), but Tosh will need to learn and improve dramatically before this time next year. Good - Renfro didn’t do anything to beat us this time

Bad - Preperation, coaching, execution, game plan, energy, desire,

Ugly - No forced turnovers - Check
No sacks or QB pressures - Check
Threw 2 INTs - Check
Fumbled twice - Check
Multiple trips in red zone with zero points - Check
Raped by true freshman QB and no name receivers - Check
Score 3 points in final 3 quarters - Check

Did Davis even play?? I didn’t hear his name and very little of Moses, Mack or Thompson (except when he got burned like toast). That’s the worst D-Line performance I’ve seen from an Alabama team, period.

Good: The running game. I mean, we absolutely destroyed them and took what we wanted on the ground, except on the goal line.

Bad: The defense. We just looked like crap. We looked lost. We looked honestly like we didn't care.

Ugly: The coaching. Our defensive gameplan was absolute dog shit and anyone that watched football could tell you to pressure a freshman pocket passer. Review the tape and the results show when pressured Lawrence did not handle well, but yet we never pressured him. Absolutely pathetic defensive coaching. Saban knew this game was over in the middle of the second quarter. The 4th down Tua run and fake field goal were the most desperation I've ever seen out of a Nick Saban team. We looked pathetic like Georgia.

My observation is that this was the perfect storm to show two games in back to back weeks like this is very difficult. With the travel involved, media responsibilities, practice, and every other little thing while traveling cross country, recruiting, it's a lot for anyone. We don't do well with one week to prepare for top teams, especially with injuries in sucj a quick turnaround. I never got into this Championship like in year's past. Maybe it was the Northwestern isolation of the game, work, anything else, but I never had a positive or happy feeling. We can't win them all and have won more than most fans will see in their entire lives. I just wish we played with more heart and awareness on defense. We'll be back, but still tough to take an ass whooping of this kind knowing we are just as good as they are, proof witb our many red zone visits.

I don't the deal on #49 on defense for Bama but he was awful last night. The kid looked tired and he couldn't move. Other than #33 there was no pressure on Sunshine and he made throw after throw. Of course his receivers were either wide open are they made one handed catches. 30 and 32 are two great athletes but neither have football savvy in fact I would move 32 to outside for 2019 just to have someone with speed. I hope the Sanders kid is ready to play when he arrives in T-town because he will be needed in 2019. #22 is a pretty good back but he ain't special and #8 might just go to the NFL this cycle. I don't know where you start with the DB's because they were terrible all night.

Good- We are a young group and will learn from this experience. 130 teams play D1 football and 128 of them would've sacrificed it all to have been in our position last night. Those other teams and their fans can't say shit because they put up their pads last month.

Bad- We got beat by the better and more physical team last night.

Ugly- We were exposed defensively for a lack of depth and physicality outside of #92 and #33.

Agree.....with all...most all
....in a week.....may rewatch and figure how this happened....
Good....Tua....receivers....RBs... actually ran an passed well....except ...
Bad...fricking kicker....how many times....kick...missed Xpt...kicked ball outta bounds on KO...fake FG...and we have Special teams coach of year? Ha!
Ugly...drives dying...blown coverage.....
Well....saved me 500$ with no print/frame/hundreds in shirts/hoodies...

Good - Clemson. Let's face it. Clemson was the better team on Monday night. We can say anything we want about what Alabama didn't do, but Clemson just outplayed Alabama.

Bad - Play calling, stupid penalties,

Ugly - 1) The offensive and defensive game plan. It looked like we planned based on what worked for Alabama all year and not what could beat Clemson. It showed. 2) Putting Jalen in when they did. He didn't have a chance.

Putting Jalen in for blowout loss mop-up felt like a slap in the face, honestly.

Buggs has a bad knee it's been that way for at least the last 3 games. Basically playing on one leg.

Going forward I'd like to see Alabama return to a more physically dominant offense than another attempt at running the greatest show on turf for another season. High powered and big play offensive teams are fun to watch, but at the end of the day they seem to have to their limits against more physical teams.

The defensive staff I believe needs to highly scrutinized by CNS. Against the three dominant QBs Alabama went up against this year (being Fromm, Murray, and Lawrence) they were highly ineffective, and I'm sorry but the fact that the defense got slapped on 3rd and long multiple times is inexcusable.

The loss itself will stink. I suggest you all stay away from sports media for a couple of days because the narrative of "Dabo has supplanted Nick Satan as the god of college football and Clemson will rule college football for the next 3,000 years hur dur" will be discussed relentlessly.

All in all, it was a fun season. This was an entertaining offense to watch, and moments like the SEC Championship game, the LSU game, and beating OU in the Orange Bowl were all fun moments. To be honest, I had my doubts this team would win it all due to the fact that I felt Alabama was too finesse this year on offense, and the defense was a B+ at best. But regardless, it was still a fun ride. Here is to 2019 RTR!!!
I agree! What happened to lining up with a fullback or the heavy elephant package and pounding the ball? I will never understand why we don't take plays that have worked in the past and utilize them. Kiffin killed Clemson with OJ. Howard. How hard is it to install 10-15 plays, starting in the spring, to throw off the defense? Why not use the I-formation or split backs? Why not run a toss sweep? And for the love of everything holy, it is time for Saban to adapt on defense!!!!!! This man to man coverage is getting us killed!!!! Our DBs never turn to located the ball! And not to take anything away from Clemson, but if the DB never turns to locate the ball, then how hard is it to catch those balls? As a former WR/FS and standing 6'4, I killed DB's doing that sh!t. Its too damn easy!!!! And why do we rarely substitute our d-line? We recruit all those guys just to keep them on the bench? We have a long way to go on defense. How about some damn stunts, delayed blitzs and zone coverage on 3rd and long??? Its an obvious passing down. The front 7 can't get to the QB, so run some zone underneath. I'm no coach, a stat was put up stating Lawrence was 11/16 with 240 yards and 2 TDs on 3rd down. Thats ridiculous!!!! And we didn't try to change. We didn't play off. We stayed in man to man 2 yards off the receiver. Forgive me, but better teams see this sh!t and they adapt!!!! Georgia and Clemson both did!!! And the truly sad part is, we were in the red zone on 4 occasions and came away with 0 points. Why, because we continue to abandon the run. Lineup and punch them in the damn mouth!!!!!

Excellent points!

Good - My beer was cold and plentiful

Bad - By perception, probably the worst prepared team I've seen us put on the field.

Ugly - The "We are going to run our gimp leg qb on a keeper from the one and lose 6 yards play" that is tied with the "I'm gonna lick the back window of the short bus fake fg play" that we stole out of Jawjas special teams book.

Good-Not a damn thing. Zero...goose egg
Bad-We would have had to have played way better than we did Monday night for it to have been considered bad. We were SO far below bad, there isn't even a word for it
Ugly-Everything. As someone else stated, even the word ugly is too nice a way to describe it. That looked like the 2005 Iron Bowl, or worse yet, 1998 vs Arkansas. That night, Arkansas beat us 42-6. Monday night's game was not too far off from that. Score wise or stat wise.

Good - the OL performed well in the running game, the backs did a good job running hard.

Bad - 1. Play calls from Locks, decision making by Tua, play by D Thompson, and even worse, M Wilson. 2. Injuries that led to poor play and poor pass rush by the DL.

Ugly - 1. Defense - not prepared, looked confused, didn't respond - this is on the coaches.
2. Kicking game - no excuses
3. Tua's poor decision making and lack of poise

Not hating on ANYONE. Not any OL, not any RB, not the safeties or CBs, and certainly not the QB. These boys gave it all and I admire their success and effort this season. It just is what it is. I am most troubled that Saban didn't do a good job - that's very rare. I DO think a lack of continuity of OCs and DCs, and the other coached, made it more difficult. The coaches, according to Saban, are supposed to give the players the best chance to be successful, and I don't think they did that in this game. THEIR only excuse is the fact that the DLs and DEs weren't that healthy and the lack of quality depth has caught up to us from NFL attrition. HAVE to coach up the young guys a bit better to have them ready, so that's a bit on the coaches as well. All said, I am grateful to the G.O.A.T. for a great program and a great year - in this game, we were basically outcoached
