🏈 The Good, The Bad and The Ugly vs. Clemson

Bet he had it by end of game....Deboll didnt look really happy getting his ass chewed out....
But better get use to it...or get lost...(which may happen anyway...if the CG gets screwed on bad/poor/inconsistent play calling)..

The dude worked for Belichick for damn near a decade, I'm pretty sure he already knew what an ass chewing felt like.

For some reason, people seem to forget this is Daboll's first year as an OC ANYWHERE and his first year as a play caller. Just like a first-year QB or a first-year anything, there will be bumps and bruises a long the way. Much better to go through those (and continue to win by the way) and have a coach that is going to stick around for several years rather than having to replace a hot OC every other year.

For one moment in time....yesterday....Saban didnt look that pleased
One moment? That tirade went on for a few moments. It doesn't change anything about what I posted.

Did you see the look on his face when Saban was going at him? Personally, I felt sorry for him. All he could do was say, "Ok, Ok, Ok."

Daboll, and his family, love it in Tuscaloosa. Saban is pleased with what he's brought to Bama. It's what he wanted.

And, get this. Saban is pleased with the progression and development seen with the quarterbacks (much to the chagrin of some, I know.)

I would seriously suggest for future reference that Daboll get a better understanding of what coach Saban wants coming down the home stretch of the ballgame. The 4th quarter went on for an eternity and Bama was as much to blame as clemson. Jalen and the offense were doing the familiar 3 and out shuffle and constantly throwing the ball out of bounds to boot. Frankly, by the time coach Saban addressed the issue I had already shouted some specific instructions to Daboll myself about the foolishness of that strategy.

Every coordinator gets their ass chewed. I’ve seen Kirby get his ass chewed. Like Birdman said Daboll worked for BB he knows what an ass chewing is.

As for Daboll and his play calling I know this isn’t the popular thing to say, but I’ve liked Daboll’s calls for the most part and as for the 4th quarter playcalling (where Saban chewed ass) had had that been successful there wouldn’t have been any ass chewing. I think the chewing was more about Saban wanting a TD so he could take the starters out

Boom. "Take the starters out". Could look at this 2 ways... Did Daboll not score the TD as he hoped which would have put the game out of hand? Or did Daboll not run the clock down enough to put the game out of hand? Either way he was not happy.

The bigger question may have been was it worth it to have the handful of irreplaceable studs in at that point (Harrison, Minkah, Jennings, Evans)? With what's on the line next weekend? Personally I've always been one to leave the starters in too long so I know that feeling (not comparing myself to Saban just that feeling of "when is good good enough?"). However, football is a different beast. Injuries are laying all over that field on a given play. Saban has a track record of letting the studs play it out... Easy to say it was a mistake now.. Regardless I feel for Jennings.

Well....(from my view points...ok) the fourth quarter was part of it....yes
But.....i see Scarbough running wide....the slowest of the 4 backs...and most powerful... when you have Harris....shifty and fast....
...i see Harris disappearance.....in big situations....when has done great all game..
I see...JH ...the little fake to RB and sprint out...that obviously Clemson has been well prepared for .... that hasnt worked all game... used over n over... and still not working...
I dont see continuity in the O....just plays...
....so...thats the frustration from a fans view... I know..12-1...but thats great D plus great talent... plus JH......
they obviously know more then me..but still frustrating...

I loved the way we called the first half. We were trying to just bully them and wear them down and it was working very well. My frustration is that we did that so we could run it late and once we had their tongues hanging out we threw it 7 straight times, punted twice and let their D recover some. I think Saban was pissed that we didn't take advantage of the work we did in the first half and finish them off so we could get the starters out.

Good: The entire outcome of the game. Offense may not have scored many points, but they sustained drives and kept Clemson on the sideline while allowing their own defense to rest. Obviously we all know this was not the case last year causing us to lose, but we see what it did for us this year. Defense was amazing and rekindled my faith that we still have that pissing vinegar mentality and can bring that to the game and not just social media. Wish we didn't miss the kick before half, but atleast we made one and all of our extra points.

Bad: Not going to put one simply because this team threw it back in everyone's face that didn't believe they belonged or could win this game.

Ugly: Clemson's orange uniforms, again.
