🏈 The Good, The Bad and The Ugly vs. Auburn

Good: Scott's 64 yard punt

Bad: dabolls play calling

Ugly: I have said for a while our lines of scrimmage .. both sides were soft. We ran into a team where that was there strength and the were senior laden up front.. if we played them again we would lose again.

Good:
-Daron Payne played well. I thought Harrison did some good things too. When Harris got the ball he made an impact too.

Bad:
-The pass rush. Absolutely non existent. Not a single guy sniffed the QB without a jail house blitz that would get there after he passed anyway.

-Late blitzing. God I had the late blitz. How many times do we need to get burned on LB's or safety's blitzing from 5 yards back before we learn our lesson?

-Offensive play calling. Kerryon Johnson ran the ball 30 times... Our 3 RB's 18. Are you kidding me? Our 3 RB's avg almost 7 YPC yet couldn't muster 20 carries between them. Why Saban refuses to get under center is beyond me... A power run game would be great if your QB struggles in the pocket.

-Jalen Hurts 17 rushing attempts. Yes I know about 10 of them were called pass plays that his pocket presence would not allow for any type of pass attempt... But at some point our OC should make the neccessary adjustments to get him out of those situations.

-Speaking of Jalen Hurts... Wow. Didn't look like he wanted any part of that game. From him inexplicably stepping out of bounds on a self sack to the delay of game deep in the red zone... He was a complete no show. Love that kid and everything he stands for but he was terrible tonight. As far as any "passing efficiency" numbers I really can't hear it anymore... He's not completing passes without a squeaky clean pocket or rolling scrambles... Just can't overcome that shortcoming vs great defenses.

-Defense not using their arms to wrap up. Why not, you got 2 of em?

-Levi Wallace... Pains me because he's done so well this year and such a great story. But tonight they used him. Avarett wasn't much better they just didn't pick on him as much. Neither could getoff blocks

-Nick Saban game management. He refuses to play aggressively in the first half and basically assured us of going in down at halftime. Does he get a bonus for the TO's he doesn't use? Second half he got bailed out by the 12 men on the field call... But to not burn a TO after the first bad snap on 3rd down was criminally bad... Offense clearly confused and late getting to the LOS. Game was clearly on the line that play and he lets them roll... WTF? Call a TO and get organized. Same deal with the Clemson pick play... Have some control on the game while you can. I don't get it.

-Tony Brown and Hootie Jones' football instincts... Enough said

-The fact that no one outside of Payne/Harrison or Fitz/Evans flashed defensively whatsoever. We may have been better off not rotating the hurt guys in... They made no impact and may kept other guys out of rhythm. Dylan Moses was a step behind (I believe he was hurt) all night which is why the Mercer performance meant little in regard to this game. Such a different stage.

Ugly:
-Penalties. Where to start... False starts, delay of game, etc. Looked like a poorly coached team

-JK Scott botched hold. Geezus that was terrible

-The fact that not only did Bama lose... They didn't resemble the look of a playoff team. Can't even argue they belong after that showing... Damn that hurt.

Good....well..really..There isnt much when u lose....getting back Lewis n Wilson back...
...come on..being optimistic here....
Bad....well...really..Ridleys drop right before half on third...wow what a play...with catch we get out of a poor first half at 7-7...
Bad snaps..miss receivers..penalties....poor tackling...crossing line before throwing ball...receiver not knowing where he is and line to gain..
Ugly...what's the difference between bad n ugly...JH ..where was your processes...taking 5 yard loss instead of throwing ball outta bounds...crossing LOS
N
Gs90 not really...the ole ms loss at ttown was like this and the lsu loss at ttown in 2011 waslike this ...wasnt how bad we played but more how everything went wrong...period...AU played fine...bama would beat them without playing a terrible unforced bunch of errors game....
Roll Tide...now need help..ok loss...osu win..uga win...but we needed unbelievable help in 2011...iowa state beating osu...and ohio state being on probation in 2012 (they would have played ND)....c how it plays

I thought my response as if I'd participated in the Iron Bowl drinking game was funnier, but love this post. I'd find it difficult to argue with your observations. Saban retiring? I've never seen anything like this from one of his Bama teams. Joking around at the press conference - about the jeans. Short-timer's disease?

Good: Nothing.

Bad: Offense, defense, special teams.

Ugly: Play calling, Auburn's love of taking out player's knees and the game after Bo's TD. Pathetic. Mack, Lewis and Miller had absolutely no affect on the game. It was pointless to even use them, neither looked healthy.

Good Not a damn thing, ( rb had decent , not good game)
Bad Take your pick on defense, defensive line play, secondary, tackling, we just could not stop the knob gobblers
On offense, line had their asses handed to them for the most part, qb play, receivers not getting open for the most part and an ill timed drop by 3,
I hate to say it but coaching
Ugly The whole damn game

I'm sorry, but he did not lose the game single handily. The defense was garbage, penalties were awful, playcalling on both sides were atrocious. Hurts was one of the least issues. The fumbled sucked of course. Without him we have an even worse 3rd down percentage.

Agreed for the most part. But he lacked any type of outward leadership or body language tonight... Usually he's at least clapping with some optimism

Yeah ultimately it was probably a negative to use those guys... Likely impacted overall preperation for the D and maybe even their perspective that the game could be easier with them all playing. They lost an edge up front, no one got free to make any plays. Just plugged along

I agree with you on lack of leadership. He has never crossed me as a vocal leader. Great non-emotion during the game which js valuable, but I do not see a vocal leader from him during our viewership times. No clue what goes on in practice and offseason, but he does not look like a McCarron type leader on the field. I don't think there was one on offense this year.

How do you let this happen? It’s like Daboll wanted Hurts to be a hero.

Exactly. Instead of bashing Hurts, you have to look at the play calling. Someone brought up the fact we got close in Auburn territory, then threw the ball three times and botched the field goal. Just give it to your hosses. Damien Harris seemed non-existant in the 4th, like not even in the game.

No doubt the play calling stunk. I've always contended just letting Jalen get under center and hand off a few more times a game would take pressure off EVERYONE, and ultimately Hurts would be better for it.

But at the same time it's tough to call plays when your QB lacks good pocket presence... And potentially struggles to read coverages... And your OL is just "OK". But we didn't see Jalen "slide" in the pocket one time today and make a good pass to someone... It's like, either the first option is there or we're scrambling. There's no subtle movement to get a different passing or arm angle it's either throw it early or bail out.

I think it's a combo of all 3... Play calling, QB, and OL play. A better performace form any of the 3 would make the other 2 look way better... Unfortunately they all lack in certain areas. Just got exposed by a good D tonight
