Tua's third down passing thru 2 games. 10 of 10, 187 yards, 4 TDs. My biggest concern is that DeLong is going to get a punt blocked with that slow delivery. Barrett Jones said last night that this basically happens every year early in the season. As he said, the talent is clearly there, but it takes time to develop cohesiveness & unity. Only 1 guy playing in same spot from last season. Barrett said it is usually mid-season or so before OL plays at a consistently higher level.

YES. It feels like DeLong takes forever to get those damn punts off! He has to speed that up!

2 things on punting:

It appears that coach Banks doesn't quite have confidence in his punter's distance and hang time yet, so he's sacrificing protection for coverage. Which is a double edged sword..

On DeLong: you can tell he's a rook. He must not have had a great snapper in HS. He's more worried about 1st fielding the snap before starting his mechanics. Most "good" or experienced punters will have their jab step ready at the snap, so all they have to do is plant step, then punt. But that comes with trusting your snapper. He's fielding, THEN jab, then plant, then kick. Adding an extra 1/2 second like that gives rushers more time to get back there.

I'd have him repping AT LEAST 50 snaps a practice with his snapper, getting that jab ready at the snap. Hopefully we'll see improvement in timing as the season progresses.

Ugly- kicking game. I have my square toe shoe somewhere around here. If it wasn’t raining cats and dogs, I’d be ready for practice on Monday. Probably will postpone my appearance until Tuesday.

Listen. I am a big fan. Just pointing out that we gave up 175 yards rushing and almost 6 yards per carry average to a sunbelt team that Doesn't run the football.

Their d-line ran thru our line and were in the back field all game. Our guys handled it ok but our O-line has to get a little better or we will get beat when we play a real d-line. May happen versus A&M

Bad- OL play had some bad ones, but not all of them were bad!

You ask me to help out on this! If I would to do this the whole team and the coaches would walk out even before I line up to do a practice kick! But if I try I to would be a straight on kicker.

Good: Offensive Production and scoring D.

Bad: O-Line struggles and the run D and pass rush.

Ugly: special teams - Missing 2 extra points and punting.

The D has me concerned the most. I knew there would be growing pains due to inexperience on D but they need to grow up fast. If our D struggles against better teams, they could keep play away from our offense nullifying the teams strength. I do expect them to get better but will they do it quickly enough?

The SEC has quickly morphed into a pass-first league. No one need overreact to an uptick in higher scores and total yardage. It's going to be harder to get off the field even if we are playing well with the new guys.
