| RECRUIT ⭐️Alabama's 2024 Signing Day Class Update Thread⭐️

Reading that Freeze has the bag full for Sayin. Hope OSU can buy him. Go Blue has turned the heat up on Day for sure.
Luckily Sayin already committed to Ohio State. Or so I read. Another article I saw noted OSU has spent $31MM in the portal so far this off-season. That’s a lot of jingle. Where would that money have gone before NIL…

Radio show I heard was claiming that transfers are getting more NIL $ than high school recruits and more than players already on the roster. Hmmmmm, I wonder why the portal is getting so many members?

With lots of $$$$$$....

I always try to word things in a manner so that's easy for people to tell if it's my opinion or guess, or if it is solid info. I want to be very clear on this... this isn't opinion. auburn is not going to be outbid on him, in fact, they are already offering more than Bama and that number is certain to go up. If it is a decision solely about money, Williams won't be in an Alabama uniform (and that's not to say, Bama wasn't giving him a good deal). My understanding is, both before Saban retired, and still now under DeBoer, the feeling at UA is that they have a good shot and feel good about where they stand.

Also, it's about relationships in this business as much as it is about other things. Money can really muddy things up so sometimes you get the occasional guy like Bond. I know I'm calling him a lock, and I could definitely be wrong, stranger things have happened. I just know that the relationship he has with Mbakwe is the main reason I'm very confident Bama wins out, despite all the money Auburn will throw at him.

I think if it was strictly about money, he'd have been committed to auburn and not Bama to begin with. Losing Robinson from the staff hurts Bama some, but UA still has a lot in their favor.... Mbakwe among them.

This entire thread is insane..... What happened to the College Football we all grew up with and loved. NIL has destroyed college football.

I've been beating the drum that it's all coming to a head... It will never go back to what is once was, but when the dust finally settles, I think it we will see a more fair system... it is going to look even more like the professional model, but at this point, that's the only way to allow players to keep getting paid while also putting up guardrails and making the system sustainable. Matter of when, not if.

Hope you're right. It's definitely out of control now. I'm to the point of: 1) make it a semi-pro league for feeding the NFL, or 2) make it intramural with no scholarships or NIL money. Yeah I know, two extremes. I guess somewhere in the middle with guardrails is best.

I'd like to see an NFL minor league for top talent, 8 or 10 teams that states could bid on to get 1 then let college go back to college ball with no pay for play just scholarships for guys who want to play. Let them be eligible to join the minor league at the end of the year or apply for the draft after college. Maybe transfers with strict limitations.

Sorry but I am getting tired of all of this look at me publicity with Ryan Williams. I hope the new regime can control some of this nonsense with socal media when players finally do get to Bama. Yes I know I am sounding like and old curmudgeon.

Was thinking about this, if this thing was about money...wouldn't it make sense for Texas and Auburn to be the schools and Texas probably wins. Just thinking if it's a bidding war, Texas isn't losing that war to the Barn no matter how much they pony up.
