Maybe I'm misunderstanding you, but you were concerned about losing 24 players to the portal. If you bring in 15 more, that's 10* additional guys you have to "cut", making it at least 34.

*This is working on the assumption that the roster is at 80 right now, I may be off 1 or 2.

A few weeks ago he didn't know what Lawson was thinking or what the NCAA was going to decide with JUCO eligibility (Jefferson.) Neither were for sure/expected...depth chart changed with decisions to stay.

~80. So approximately 5 open slots.

Posted this about a week ago on needs...

A few more will be signed to fill out some areas of need. Pretty much any position on offense can be added to if they find the right guy, but they could really use another QB, TE, and OT. On the other side of the ball, DL is a priority. EDGE LB, ILB, and another body at corner are also need areas. They’ve got some time and another portal window to get it all ironed out. And they will.

IMO, they will add another QB for depth purposes if nothing else, just a matter of who and when. I'd still like to see an experienced offensive tackle added, but at this point, it's more than likely gonna have to wait until spring. They'll have a much better idea though of what they do need after spring practice too.

Yes I think Bama will fill holes in the spring. The quality might not be the same as the winter portal but sometimes you get lucky.

I don't know about that. the best find are in spring window, IMO. With ND/Ohio State playing for championship, I don't see many options on OSu or ND. So it's better to shift focus to Spring camp.
