| FTBL The Road to the SECCG and the playoffs

I looked a little deeper, which isn't saying much, into the CFP rankings late last night and I want to add this to my previous thoughts from yesterday... I talked about the perils of going on the road as a lower seed, even against a lesser team. And while I still think that is a spot UA needs to avoid (those 9-12 seeds), it really shouldn't be an issue at this point unless they lose the SECCG, at which point I think it would come into play. But if Alabama wins out against OU and auburn, they should be no lower than 8th in the Playoff Poll with the way things are trending, which would award UA a home game.

Just for a look into what I'm expecting... BYU and Tennessee slide down after their loses, most everyone else moves up tonight. I think the top 5 remain the same... Oregon, Ohio State, Texas, Penn State, and Indiana. The loser of this Saturday's Ohio St/Indiana game will obviously drop in the pack, thus moving several teams up another spot next week (including Bama). Then you have Notre Dame, Miami, Bama, UGA, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Boise in that second group. SMU, Texas A&M, Kansas St., and Colorado looming below the cut line for now.

Basically, I see it very close to this later tonight [remaining games in brackets]...

1. Oregon (11-0) [Washington]
2. Ohio State (9-1) [Indiana, Michigan]
3. Texas (9-1) [Kentucky, @ Texas A&M]
4. Penn State (9-1) [@ Minnesota, Maryland]
5. Indiana (10-0) [@ Ohio State, Purdue]
6. Notre Dame (9-1) [Army, @ USC]
7. Miami (9-1) [Wake Forest, @ Syracuse]
8. Alabama (8-2) [@ Oklahoma, auburn]
9. Ole Miss (8-2) [@ Florida, Mississippi State]
10. Georgia (8-2) [UMASS, Georgia Tech]
11. Tennessee (8-2) [UTEP, @ Vanderbilt]
12. Boise St (9-1) [@ Wyoming, Oregon State]
-----------------
13. SMU (9-1)
[@ Virginia, California]
14. Texas A&M (8-2) [@ auburn, Texas]
15. BYU (9-1) [@ Arizona State, Houston]
16. Colorado (8-2) [@ Kansas, Oklahoma State]

Personally, I think BYU should be toast at this point. And Penn State, Indiana, Notre Dame, and Miami are over ranked, but it is what it is. I would love for Bama to get matched up at home or a neutral site with any of the 4 though if it can work out that way.

As it pertains to Alabama... South Carolina will be ranked, that's a quality win. I think Missouri will still be holding on in there too, which is important, and hopefully they can win out as it would lock them into the top 25 even if they are on the wrong side of the of it tonight.

They would beat half the teams listed in my post at a neutral site. If they had held on and beaten LSU and all else has stayed the same, they'd be right there in that pack of SEC cars coming around turn 4.
...makes me curious of the UofSC win total thread...have to look that one up when I get out of the kitchen. :devilish:

Shrimp and grits, asparagus, and some french bread ... might have to take a nap.

So dadghum. I don't know who to root for. Except bama of course and who ever is playing AU. Those are givens

I am going out on limb though.
AU beats AnM at AU
@Florida beats ole MS Florida and UsCe are hot teams right now.

But pull for ole ms. Keeps tn from rising
AnM to beat AU. A given

Wild to think Texas could miss the playoffs altogether.

I'm not wild about a possible rematch with a and m after beating them in the seccg.

This drama manufacturing shit we see from these social media accounts is so over the top... Look how many views and RT's this has, a soundbite where a guy misspeaks and immediately corrects himself. And auburn fans in the comments pretending (at least I hope that's what they're doing) to be offended. I know why they do it, it gets them money... but it also, at least to me, undercuts the credibility of everything else they do at some point.

Credibility? C'mon. . . . the only thing that matters with todays news cycle is the 'Click' in click-bait. That's it. Everything else is distant second.

I've grown so tired of flamming the fires of these sources knowing full well that time will address 90% of the bitching & moaning of the rankings.

Just as long as 'Bama continues to get better each week, even if we play the SECCG, it's just an opportunity to get better. If they can't do that, well then they shouldn't be in the playoffs only to get embarrassed.

But I get all the attention & focus of these media types. Drama, Drama, Drama . . . . sells.

Rhetorical isn't the right descriptor for the question. It was intended to highlight the absurdity; close to as bad as the Big12 getting a bye.

The simulator is down this morning so I can't run the scenario ...

We've seen crazy things happen at Auburn. Now, with A&M visiting this weekend, if I'm not mistaken, it could shake a few things up. I think...if Auburn pulls off the upset (home dog) and then we see A&M beat TX, I think that opens the door for UGA to meet Bama in ATL.
If Bama beats OU and the Barn....

And interactions on these verified Twitter accounts (that meet the threshold) is nothing but free money earned... Some of these wilder political accounts are making really good and easy grifting money off of it and others have figured out the blueprint. It's honestly not a bad gig if you have enough followers, but it does show that you care more about some extra scratch than you do credibility... so IMO, it's a fine line to walk.
