| FTBL The Road to the SECCG and the playoffs

There a chance Boise State gets a first week bye. Why?

A lot of things " might happen ". But not worth the worry til they do.

I guess one thing. I dont think sec is the greatest of great. Might be. Might not be

And i don't know. The bye is better than a host game. Every one should be rested after sitting 3-4 weeks. Injuries that are going to heal have done so. Sure might get some key player hurt. Always a risk. But get back to practice and game prep. Easier than banging on each other over n over ( in some ways).

Like IT11 mentioned, it would just be the one road game... and Bama would match up very well with teams like Indiana, Penn State, & Notre Dame for example. But I do believe the (possible) added weather obstacle at any of those places would serve as a pretty good equalizer. If Bama got any of those teams at home, it would be closer to a mid tier SEC type game, which Bama does fine with.

I'm just not there yet on the thinking that Bama would be left out if they dropped the SECCG... again, as long as it wasn't a blowout or a 2nd loss to the Vols.
I know they’re still a couple of games left but at this point, I think Tennessee is going to be on the outside looking in especially with the Big Ten playing out the way it looks like it’s going to play out, if Texas loses and let’s just say, A&M where to drop another game Does that put us playing Georgia or Ole Miss?

I would have the Vols on a major upset alert at Vandy to close out the season... I'm just not sure how much gas Vandy has left in the tank... but maybe this late open date they just had can help with that.

You can play with this scenario calculator and get the results based on the remaining games...

Vols not getting in would be incredible. Make my whole season

Because we don't have a Power 4 structure, or a Power 3. It's a Power 2, and the Big 12 and ACC are stinking it up. If you'd told me SMU was the class of the Big 12, I'd be surprised. That they are the class of the ACC, I'm embarrassed. When you only have two decent conferences, the interlopers creep in.

If BYU makes the playoff and beats us, I'll have some crow to eat, but BYU is a Mountain West team having a good season, eking out slim wins over crappy opponents, needing divine side judgment intervention to beat a .500 Utah team and finally going belly up against an even crappier Kansas team. Can't remember the article, but props to the ESPN writer who said they were surprised the final play in the Kansas game wasn't flagged by the Big 12 office for K playing Carry On My Wayward Son too many times...

Forget a playoff berth, forget 72 virgins, these guys expect their own planet...

Worth keeping filed away: They have 2 years to try and get this right before the heavy hand of the SEC comes back around. That will be in the back of their minds throughout this process…
Crimson Blinders...

With all due respect to Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, I like the Arctic Monkeys version, too. In my mind, their version is a mashup of The Doors and The Violent Femmes with a little 60's beach music thrown in for seasoning.

The Peaky Blinders version was one of my top picks for a new entrance song for when UA takes the field...

Rhetorical isn't the right descriptor for the question. It was intended to highlight the absurdity; close to as bad as the Big12 getting a bye.

The simulator is down this morning so I can't run the scenario ...

We've seen crazy things happen at Auburn. Now, with A&M visiting this weekend, if I'm not mistaken, it could shake a few things up. I think...if Auburn pulls off the upset (home dog) and then we see A&M beat TX, I think that opens the door for UGA to meet Bama in ATL.

That works. Although...colorado? .....but they might well win big12. Although i dont know all teams in big 12....or even acc...

One game this weekend...is AnM @ AU.....one to watch
There's nothing I see of note in the 3PM window for games this weekend. There are a few to keep an eye on the score. BYU at AZ State. Kansas is limping though they've had a lot of close ball games this season (Colorado this weekend, at home.)

The noon window has some potential. There's so much parity in the ACC (as in bad teams) that SMU vs UVA game will begin to spell the Big 12 bye. IU vs OSU is a given. I wouldn't bet a dime on Ole Miss vs Florida. I have this feeling Lane is thinking about the playoffs versus this game. It just doesn't feel right.

Saturday night? Yeah, the A&M game is one to watch. ND vs Army might be as well. Bama needs Mizzou to win at State. (Imagine Vandy grabbing a road win at LSU, at night. :ROFLMAO: )
