🏈 The Bad,The Good and The Very Good vs. Mercer

That is the only reason I see for continuing to play Mercer and schools like them. I am sure we could find FBS opponents that are equivalent but at least games like this allow every Senior to get in for at least a play or two. Some of those guys have basically been scout team and bench warmers for upwards of 5 years and they may never play another snap in their lives.

You can mention things like this until you're blue in the face and you'll see find ...
Bad - it was Mercer
You can mention the needed rest--IE: Minkah--and you'll still find ...
You can mention the revenue and you'll still find...
You'll see people complaining about taking families to games at BDS--something this game fit perfectly--and you'll still find...

Good- No struggles or slow start due to the opponent...shows a good mindset.

Bad - Yeah, it was Mercer...not anything there to hang your hat on.

Ugly - Nothing really ugly about this one, but to go off track for the ugly...all the folks that thought UAB could beat Florida.

There is a reason Bama continues to schedule FCS schools on the weekend in question. I din't research it this year because I'm sure the results would have been similar. But, FWIW, in 2016 on the weekend in question, 100 of the other 127 FBS schools were playing conference games and were unavailable even if they were willing to play Bama. They weren't! Thirteen of the remaining 27 were SEC teams and were unavailable even if they had been willing to play an OOC game against Bama. They weren't! The 14 remaining FBS schools all have ADs with half a brain who would consider Tuscaloosa, Alabama as the last place on Earth where they would have their football team playing on the next to last weekend of the football season. Might need two wins to become Bowl eligible!

If you were an AD at a FBS school. would you even answer a call from the Bama AD's office? I wouldn't. The sumbitch might talk me into playing Bama!
