| LIFE Songs you turn up on the radio. (gotta include a video here.)

I saw Sturgill Simpson and Tyler Childers last night at the BJCC. Childers was outstanding, I listen to him far more than Sturgill. Sturgill had been progressing to a more rock guy over several albums, and his current album is a gigantic leap away from country, so it shouldn’t have been a surprise to folks last night - but it was. His current album sounds like he’s trying to channel Springsteen, but it just comes out 80’s rock. Add to that, in his sunglasses and whatever his attire was last night, he had an Uncle Rico look about him. By the time he was 7 or 8 songs in, the standing pit in front of the stage was one-third empty and he’s lost maybe 20 percent of the sellout crowd. Calls for his old stuff got louder and louder, and the crowd got restless. Childers was worth the price of admission, but I had to feel a little bad for the folks who shelled out money and didn’t see the Sturgill they wanted.

Tim
