🏈 🔎 Looking ahead to this weekend:Vanderbilt -- How does Alabama match up with the Commodores?

We are coming off a high intensity game this past weekend with UGA. Hopefully, the team will be focused and mentally ready to play. I am very impressed with Coach Grubbs passing game and the development of T. Simpson. We still need to improve in our running game. My biggest concern is on defense. We continue to give up big runs, get out of position with our LB's and have too many blown coverage's. Pavia is a tremendous weapon on the ground or in the air so I am anxious to see what CKW has in store for him. Do we put a spy on him or not? Do we play a majority of zone coverage's with a 3 deep, 2 deep or nickel or are we going mainly man? Finally, I hope our players remember last year and come ready to play a full 60 minutes of football.

We know they're good, but to me they're unknown.
I'm here as well.

The UofSC win is a win. There's A LOT that's suspect about that game in my view and it all starts with Sellers. One drive ends largely due to a loss on a fumble. Another ended with an INT. Then, that light tap that was called "a concussion."

(The following week they didn't follow concussion protocols unless he was okay Sunday morning. As I recall it's no headaches for 48, then light workout with no headaches for 48, then full workout with none. Then you can have contact and see if there's a headache for the next 48. He started the next game. Something doesn't add up about that game.)

The offense has put up 480 and a 490 game along with two over 500. There's a Charleston Southern in there and a Georgia State.

And saw how that worked out
We lost the game last year because they didn't take vandy serious. My point is media and fans are giving Vandy too much credit. I saw what Pavio said yesterday and he's having too much fun and way too loose, acting like it's a easy game this upcoming weekend. If anything the pressure is on them. They're not acting like a 5-0 team. They had a easy schedule so far and they haven't been hit in the mouth yet. I can tell when a team is overconfident and little aggroant... This is Vandy.

I don't disagree. But.... they sling it around and Pavia can ball ( see fsu qb).

Am sure excited to see how bama responds.

Except. Charleston southern n Georgia state haven't proved what vandy already has.

Vandy can win vs big boys.

And.... we had crowd last year too

Period

In the end, Bama should match up fine... ideally, UA would have their top 2 and most experienced Wolf/EDGE guys playing, but that's obviously out the window. But, I don't see Vandy catching Bama off guard this season... that isn't to say they won't move the ball and have some success, I think they absolutely will. But they are what they are and have been for a year now. UA should be much better prepared to defend them. And I really like how Bama matches up when the Tide is on offense.

They key for Bama is how they handle this week between the ears. Everything that has happened since the FSU debacle shows us that lessons were actually learned, but I said the other night, each game now is an exam. How do they respond from the big win over UGA? We saw how they handled it last year. I suspect, this year they will handle it better. If so, Bama will be fine. If not, it's going to be a 1 step forward,, 2 steps back type of situation again that was all too familiar last season. Personally, I'm expecting just another step forward...

"Period." Really?

No. They haven't proven they can win with the big boys this season. They didn't prove it last season. That's the point he's making, correctly. Vandy lost four of their last five against Texas, Tennessee, LSU, and one other...oh, UofSC thumped them. They had three conference wins last year, five losses. (UK and AU.)

They won their game against Bama last year. These are the lenses you're viewing this game through.

They were a play or two away from beating Texas. They played pretty solid last year. Don't discount what they did last year with what they had on their roster.

Not accurate. Texas was killing them with offense. Vandy couldnt stop them. Texas intercepted the throw in 4th but it was negated by referee and they were spotted 15 yards. Both teams didn't play well in 2nd half ..

Check out the play by play for both team.

So Terry is right.

269 yards in O vs a texas team
And 17 first downs

Moving ball pretty good

Final. 27-24.
Go back and look at the play by play sequence. As matter of fact. Go back and watch the YouTube video and watch second half for both team. I'm telling you Texas should've put Vandy away and didn't. If Texas had lost, it wasn't because of Vandy.

By the way 17 first downs ain't nothing. Georgia has 17 first downs and Alabama had 25.

Pointing out how weird the UofSC game was is discounting? Or was it losing four of five?

I've said this isn't your dad's Vandy. Those guys didn't beat the big boys either. They have that in common.

It's singular vision to look at Vandy through the Alabama loss. Otherwise, we're left with "who have they beaten?" Georgia Tech in the bowl game is probably the best team.
