🏈 🔎 Looking ahead to Tennessee. How do the Vols match up with the Tide?

Bassackwards. There's Tennessee in a word.

You're going to see this pointed to a lot, I suspect. UT isn't last in the SEC in total defense: pretty damn close. It's neck and neck with the Derby folks and about 40 or so yards less than UArk in yards per game given up.

At the same time they lead the SEC in total offense with almost 530 yards per game.

YPP is the only statistical advantage I've found so far. (Vandy and Mizzou rank higher.)

I got a text message about the game and now I can't remember who sent it to me...so, I don't have the numbers. I know the message is archived...damn.

Anyway, the gist of the text was talking about something they'd read from TI. I want to say it was 179...the number of plays for the UT defense versus how many snaps the Bama defense has seen this season. Do the math for a second. That's like facing two offenses that are churning out 90 plays per game.

One thing you can say about this Vols defense - they do get after the QB. Averaging about 4 sacks a game…11 in their last two against Miss State and Arky.
I mentioned TFL's earlier. I don't think that's what you need to watch. It'll happen.

I found the text. The offense, for Bama, has played 87 more plays than Bama's defense this season.

Legs. Game comparison with UT's D playing that many snaps more than Bama...and a D that's rested.

The sacks had me thinking about fumbles/turnovers in general.

Upon further review, not a strong suit for Vols.

They do create turnovers at a decent clip - had something like 5 against Arky, but are only +2 on the season. They turn the ball over quite a bit.

Our defense must stop Chris Brazzell II ... He is the game changer...
it's simple our offense needs to have long time consuming. SCORING DRIVES..Every drive.. Tennessee will probably go tempo on offence so we got to keep our defense on the sidelines as much as possible..
If the do that we should win..

I meant to look that up last night and I forgot.

Opponents averaging 56.2 against Alabama defense.

Opponents averaging 85 against Tennessee defense.

Both team offense averaging nearly 70-80 plays per game.

👀

I just can’t figure which way this game will go.
If we establish a descent ground game to go with the passing game(depending on the Oline protection ) it may be our game to lose. If their secondary is susceptible or ours is… I guess we’ll see. I don’t like Heupel!!!! Or Tennessee!!!

I’d say UT has the advantage in the special teams department. That could factor in to this one. I’d think rain would benefit them since they have a better run game. But I’d say we have the better passing attack and at the same time, weaker O-line.

Looks like rain is out of the forecast. Initially it was to come in late Saturday night, but now looks like it won't get here until Sunday.

🤞🙏 My green fields need it some rain!!
