🏈 🔎 Looking ahead to this weekend:Vanderbilt -- How does Alabama match up with the Commodores?

Pointing out how weird the UofSC game was is discounting? Or was it losing four of five?

I've said this isn't your dad's Vandy. Those guys didn't beat the big boys either. They have that in common.

It's singular vision to look at Vandy through the Alabama loss. Otherwise, we're left with "who have they beaten?" Georgia Tech in the bowl game is probably the best team.
Beating....GT. VaTech. Bama. Ky ( ole ms didnt).

They competed. Thats all anybody is saying....

@Justneedme81
@TerryP
But. Thars competing....against a tough sec schedule .
That's not a good argument at all..

Vandy lost to Ga Southern, Mizz, Texas, SC, LSU and Tennessee. (Funny you left out TN)

After they beat Bama, defense in SEC started to adjust toward Pavia and his stats declined. Funny you mentioned Mizz.... The same team that lost to Alabama 34-0.

The level of competition they had last year... And lost to better team. In the final stretch of the game, out of five games, they lost 4.

This year they're 5-0 playing inferior opponents and honestly they should've lost the SC game but they didn't.

You look at their remaining schedule. LSU, Mizz, Texas, Auburn, UK and TN. Out of that, I don't see them winning more than two games. They're not that good like everyone seems to think. It's exactly the same team from last year but more experienced.

I can't say that based on who they've played this season. I had UofSC on when they played. I kept up with their game against Utah State. I don't know if they've made that jump. They are productive on offense this season.

If Vandy were to catch LSU, in Baton Rouge, this Saturday afternoon? Whew...that would be a tough one to call.

Dude. That is not even what you said. :ROFLMAO:

Throwing "proven" and "can beat" into the thread is the speed bump.
They can win ...proved it vs sec teams...period

Maybe not run table....or even 50/50. But they beat sec teams...one ranked #1...

And 3 loses by 7 or-less......

A fact.

And this already beat a sec team...that most thought would be really good...beat them at their home...bad

Dang. Terry...You sure do move around a lot...

Here's where it gets me. Offense are productive this year but until we see them doing same thing against better team, I can't just go and say, "Oh they're real good this year!" First test starts this weekend.

This is the team that's so confident. The question is can they do it again ?

LSU- I'm with you on that but it'll be a close game.

That's where I am and why I mentioned those four games at 480+ this season. Ga State has the 135th ranked defense out of 136. I don't have numbers for FCS teams like Charleston Southern.

Brandon said it best about UofSC and that win. As soon as Doty hit the field you could throw the chances of UofSC winning out the window. That game was over in the 2nd quarter. And even if Sellers wouldn't have "been hurt," he was playing horribly (TD, INT, and lost fumble.)

I'm left looking at the defense of Utah State: 115th so better than Ga. State. The best defense they've faced is Va Tech (who can claim a win against Wofford among their two.)

While five games isn't enough for an accurate sample size ...when the samples you have are this bad? What does it tell you?

Come on. We're looking at the resume.

The carpet don't match the drapes.

Not accurate. Texas was killing them with offense. Vandy couldnt stop them. Texas intercepted the throw in 4th but it was negated by referee and they were spotted 15 yards. Both teams didn't play well in 2nd half ..

Check out the play by play for both team.

So Terry is right.

That little synopsis doesn't show they were still a play or two from winning the game. Three point game. It was close whether you want to downplay it or not.

None of us ever said they were a Top 10 team. To say they can't play is another story. They beat us and almost beat Texas. That's being able to play. They just need to learn how to win. They are doing it with much less too, so let's not ignore that either.

@bamaledge here's where it gets a little funky doing match up comparisons (in my world,at least)

I look at Ty and Diego playing QB and Ty is the better QB.
I look at the receiving corps and it's Bama over Vandy, hands down.
I look at the RB's and Vandy has the edge in production: led by their QB.

So, in terms of total offense Ty and Diego are practically tied (a 2.2 yard per game difference.) But in position groups it's a two to one advantage to Bama.
